I honestly think he forms the basis of a better Kharn than the new Kharn..

No GW. That's a slayer you've painted white.
They even say in its description that it's just a repackaged version of a model they're still selling. For a limited time spend the same amount of money for a round base and a different paint scheme on the box art.
Certainly nothing terrible but it just screams of a wasted opportunity... Especially since they used to make a new model representing Grombrindal every year.
The new white dwarf mini is extremely disappointing, especially when some of the previous versions were so good. If that was a free mini for subscribers it would be a little more understandable, but as it stands it has actually soured me on the magazine a little.

i am actually of the opposite opinion...
if i had paid for a full year, and this was my freebie, i'd be pissed...
for the price of one issue, i can be a lot more forgiving...
still not very exciting, though...
the concept of wanting to throw a free mini in the trash, rather than stick it in a drawer, or give it to a friend, is completely baffling to me...
a free mini is always a good thing...
Seems to be more "bitter internet complaining for the sake of complaining" coupled with a narrow and self-centred worldview than anything realistic to me. Particularly since it's been explained more than once how easy it would be to turn that figure into a 40k chaos model. Note all of the bs about shipping costs and attempting to turn a profit. No, tneva just likes to hear the sound of his own voice complaining loudly about AoS while he trolls us and gaks on GW doing something positive.
Dunno. First magazine seems to have zero hobby content that would be useful for me so won't buy it. Maybe 2nd magazine will have something but if it's more AOS trash only or board games I don't have then pass until there's SOMETHING for 40k that's not just ads for latest releases.
Don't buy it. Don't even look at it. Don't bother considering to buy any future issue. Go do something productive with your time instead.
Or perhaps don't feel obliged to go on and on and fething on for 19 out of 20 posts in this thread about how you don't like and aren't going to buy something. At a certain point, you're just trolling.
Also if you want to get into competition painting it's a nice piece to work on as a 40k player as you won't be tempted to use it as a gaming piece later on. Paint it to the best of your ability and enter it into some competitions :-)
Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

In other news...the elves are behind schedule making the Christmas presents; Santa 'aint happy.
"Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. " - V

Trust me. I'll never be at painting competition standard.
The White Dwarf should have a pint of ale in one hand at least. The other day I found my dwarf figure from a visit to Nottingham HQ, standing on barrels waving drinks around.
Is the Khorne figure a magazine exclusive or something acailable elsewhere?

I just choked up a bit, seeing that the covers are going back to being actual artwork! I get the feeling that there is a lot of nostalgia behind the current changes going on at GW, which is super fine by me!

To be fair, they had artwork on the weekly stuff. Not as often, but they did occasionally have artwork on the cover. Archaon on his chimera- dragon mount thing for example.

Still a good point though.
Even if it's not Golden Deamon, it would be a great model to enter into a store competition and have an excuse to pull out all the stops on :-)

A couple of tidbits have me puzzled. Kharn and the traitors hate book are up for preorder next weekend. Gorechosen is up for preorder properly on the 17th. Both are in this white dwarf. Future white dwarfs will release on the last Friday of the month.
So if the magazine really is looking back on the previous months releases, the October issue will have just two weeks to cover. That seems a little strange.
Good questions, Chikout. There were no WDW and Vision in August and this being a #1 could have resulted in an strange, irregular mix of products known and unknown. But it looks like they will still have a week or two of 'big release of the month'-thingies we will only see when the issue gets leaked/released plus stuff we could already buy at that point. I also think the magazine will loose part of its preview-job to the Facebook and Warhammer TV team (similiar to the retroperspective of Visions) which allows them to actually add new game content and hobby articles instead.
