Perhaps the Veterans set comes with all of the Veteran bodies and whatnot all on one sprue, and the upgrade sprue is the weapons and shoulder pauldrons and etc. all on another. That way they can sell the upgrade sprue separate or included in other sets. I really hope it is available separate. It fits with my plans.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Holy crap, there's an actual face with obviously non-caucasian facial features, at last

One thing though - have we actually seen the Deathwatch Upgrade sprue yet? We can't have, because there's only five PA DW pads on the sprue pics so we're missing the five pads for the Vanguard, the Terminator pads, and the vehicle icons. Can we get a pic of that please luchiban?

Just clarifying: do all units in the kill team formation form a single inseperable squad?

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Yes and I thing its really good. For example, the Malleus Kill team (the one designed vs HS)
Take a unit of 5 Vets. Give them 3 Missile Launchers. Add 2 Termies, and give them 2 Cyclon Missile Launchers. You get a unit of 7 models, that fires 7x S8, AP3 shots, that reroll armounr pen ves HS vehicles. Not bat at all.

Or give them the Frag cannon instead and a Drop Pod.

Possibilities are inmense!!!!!

The problem with that is how does it work for the ones that contain Bikes or Jump Packs?

No we can see the DWV sprue on the GQ NZ site right now, it has five DW pads, all the weapon etc bitz, mixed in with the bodies. But there's supposed to be a separate Upgrade sprue as well that we've not seen.

It doesn't:

The box contents very clearly state DW Veterans, and a DW Upgrade Sprue. That pic above is the Veteran kit. It cannot be separated out for an 'upgrade' sprue because both sides contain bits for Marines legs.

And where did the =][= and the Tyranid head with a knife through it on the Ven Dread come from?

You're 100% correct. The Deathwatch Veterans kit has exactly 5 Deathwatch pads, plus 17 Chapter pads, plus 1 Black Shield pad.

If that's it, then the Vanguard can't get DW pads.

With the Deathguard sprue you are able to build fully 5 Deathguard models.

13th August- next saturday.

I would think it is limited. Sanctus Reach and Deathstorm were. Artemis and Eldrad will come out as clam packs later.

So I'm starting two new 40K armies. That's a turn up for the books and was not a part of the plan when I woke up this morning. I have a few boxes of unbuilt space marines, that might get a new upgrade sprue to go with this starter set. (yer keep telling yourself it's just a few Tam, you might start believing it).

Well played GW, well played.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Does the Death Masque box come with a vehicle upgrade frame/sprue, Iuchiban?

It is weird that the upgrade sprue is not shown. Maybe they want to wait until next week to show it off. I don't really play 40k much any more but I am very tempted by that set.

I have nothing against the Eldar but those marine parts are intriguing.

I think that the stuff posted so far covers the new Deathwatch stuff.

In my opinion (15 year Veteran) the codex is really, really strong, Units disembarking from a Drop Pod can, for expample, either put on you 8 S6, AP- Shred Templates or 8 S9 AP2 shots. The heavy bolter/flamer weapon is insane. The Power Fist/melta gun thing is awsome. 5 Termis, each with a Heavy Weapon, come on.

The Flyer is damn good as well. BTW I forgot to mention that the Corvus thing can get the reroll failed jink saves thing for +5 points. Can get the Strafing Run SR for +10 points.

Very, very strong codex.

Is there any specific question that needs to be answered?

What he said trying to get at is that there are supposedly two separate items:
• a Deathwatch Squad sprue, w/bits to make five Deathwatch Veterans
• a Deathwatch Upgrade sprue w/bits that combine with other kits, such as the Vanguard Veterans in the new starter box, to make them into Deathwatch marines

So far we've only seen the first of those; have you knowledge of the content of the second? As in how many of each type of Deathwatch pad (terminator/power armour sizes) or if it includes weapons etc.?

The Deathwatch Upgrade sprue has to come with DW shoulder pauldrons as the Vanguard Veterans get their pauldrons from somewhere and the Veterans box is not it.

Not sure about the bit, but the Venerable Dread kit has always had the Tyrannic War veteran panel in there.

There should be a separate 'upgrade frame' in Death Masque

The new powers come with a summary card that lists Deathwatch as able to use them, even before there were any Deathwatch psykers to do so…

Summary card isn't permission though.

There is one tiny sprue with Deathwatch shoulder pads (12x), 1 power sword, 2 Helmets and 3x Inquisition symbols. There your have your Deathguard upgrade sprue.
