Warning From Magnus? Not Listening!

Holy Terra.

Corax or Mortarion.

Vulkan! The only "good guy" of the good guys... and he rocks a big hammer and literally slayed dragons as a youngster.

Corax freed his prisoner friends and nuked a planet with mining charges as a youngster. And Mortaring led an uprising of Peasants.

I also like Alpharius, because I am alpharius.

Mine is Angron. It used to be Magnus, and Corax... and while I love Curze as well I think Angron has won the day.

Especially in the novel Betrayer. You see so many levels to Angron. When he's at his most lucid he's able to crack a joke and he's got a quick wit about him.

And while he hates formalities he's not as totally cut off from his Legion.

And I do hope that when we finally reach the end of the Horus Heresy Series.... we find out why the Emperor chose to whisk him away rather than help him fight his war.

I know that Lorgar lost Monarchia, and Curze was treated pretty poorly by the Emperor, but Angron definitely got the worst treatment of all of them.

Even more confusing is why the Emperor himself didn't return to Nuceria and get the information regarding the Butcher's Nails from the techs there. Surely the Emperor could have figured out a way to safely remove them.

But no. The Emperor, was for all purposes (in my eyes) sel-obsessed with his own goals, and wasn't cut out for fatherhood. On any level. Especially the way he treated Angron.

Horus is the pre-Darth Vader we deserved. He wins. After him, Fulgrim and Dorn are my top favs.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Drinks wise.

I'd probably have a night on the town with Magnus. He and I would spend endless hours debating life, the universe and everything.

And actually, as much as Angron is in perpetual pain... he's honest. Misunderstood. But I have a lot of respect for him.

And for a major party - definitely Russ. Roast, toast and boasts all night!

Also Vulkan would be pretty chill.

I love the fact that there's people discussing having drinks with Primarchs and Russ isn't topping that list every time.
Space Marines and Primarchs can drink a pub dry and fart pure ethanol fumes without getting tipsy - Russ and his boys developed a poison to impede a liver so they can feel the effects of alcohol. You want to drink with a Primarch you're going to have to visit the Wolves first.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Favorite 3:
Lion El'Jonson, because he is the only one who is still alive and can fight if he were to wake up from his beauty sleep. Also, I play Dark Angels.
Jaghatai Khan, because he;s a friend to the Lion, and also because his army has bikes, soooooo maaaaany biiiiiiiikes.
Rogal Dorn, because his character is my favorite in TTS, and also because he's just a cool guy who tried to kill Purturabo.

Least favorite 3:
Leman Russ, f*^&ing barbarian who doesn't care and doesn't plan, sort of a temperamental little douche.
Lorgar: I like him model wise, but he is THE ONE WHO STARTED THE HERESY FOR THE EMPEROR'S SAKE!
Roboute Guilliman, because he's the papa smurf.

Favorite:
Fulgrim, because he's so vein he even acknowledges when people are playing him up because of it.

Only because the Emperor was so blind in his anti-religion stance, and so poor a judge of character that he didn't seem to see the problems his Primarchs were having (unless you subscribe to the idea that the Emperor wanted the Heresy to happen of course). All Lorgar was looking for was Humanity's Spiritual truth. He thought he had found it in a God-Emperor of Mankind. He *should* have found it with the God-Emperor of Mankind, but the Emperor denied his very own nature - for what can the Emperor possibly be but a God - and thus the Primordial Truth became apparent to Lorgar. Humanity's Spiritual Truth is found in the embrace of the Empyrean, the perfect joining of flesh-human and warp-demon that can allow Humanity to reach heights greater than the Imperium of Man would have ever allowed. That is Humanity's path to the future, and only that way will give Humanity to strength to fend off and destroy the Enemies Without that will come to otherwise destroy all.

Translated loosely as "the Emperor wasn't completely arrogant and knew the dangers of being worshiped as a god and tried to stamp it out. Lorgar needed a god, so he went and found some evil ones".

Besides, wasn't it Erebus who showed Lorgar the way to the chaos gods? Lorgar was weak willed.

Angron FTW

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

.

It was explained like four years ago: the Nucerians had complied with the Emperor, bowing to his rule. He did have no problem with slavery so he only needed his general, which was damaged beyond repair as the butcher's nails can't get out (even the best people from the Nucerians and the Emperor couldn't).

No, it's translated to: "I'm going to be an donkey-cave to my sons and give not reasons for my plans even though I may trample their life-long passions/objectives."

Haha, poor Ferrus. Do love his model, didn't think much of him in any of the HH novels though.

Finished Angel Exterminatus and have to say it makes me like Peturabo even more.

Ferus Manus just seems to be a dissapointment. The traitors are upset because he wont join them, and the loyalists fell let down because he died.

You are looking for an empty answer, the best among the primarchs is not the best fighter or the more victoirous general, the primarchs are made of lies. Lies that flowed beneath the skin and the blood of the demi-gods.

The only truth, a truth that no man (primarch or not) wants to hear, is HORROR. Horror that beats under the nature of the human soul and the Imperium.

And there was only one primarch that embraced this truth, tired and bored of the falsehood of the empire. But aware what the chaos gods would make to the mankind.

His name is night, his name is blood in the hands and guilty, his name is fear...

Model-wise, it's Perturabo. He's a marching tank with lascannons mounted on his arm. Compared with the Fulgrim, Angron, or Guilliman models, he's just great.

The more I learn about the rules for Horus, the more I like him. Outflank is a great rule to begin with, being able to hand it out to any unit coming in from reserve is just crazy good.

For as long as I've known about WH40k, Leman Russ has always been my favorite.

He's my kind of demigod - affable, entertained, loyal, and badass. His theme, and his relationship with his legion, is that of a "first among equals" rather than "the tier above" in tone.

Is he somewhat hypocritical? Yeah, on occasion. Even better, in my mind - that makes him more relatable, not less, which is always useful to making a character I can enjoy.

Is he an idiot in tactics? I'd argue he isn't, but he sure enjoys it when people assume that to be so. Underestimating Russ and his pack as nothing more than savage barbarians is going to be the last thing that goes through his opponents' minds, other than Vlka swords, axes, and bolt shells.

Magnus is a close second. I've always been partial to psykers.
