Dipping my feet back into 40k but doing it old school.

Always wanted to do wolves and like Terminators so I figured kill two birds with one stone. Not sure on my list as yet, all I know is it will have a wolf lord, an iron priest, a dread and some terminator wolf guard, and maybe long fangs

First mini off the bat is the first of my Wolf Guard Terminators. Tried matching the old codex style/another 2nd ed wolf army I've seen

it's for a 2nd ed 40k slow grow league a local club is running, super cool stuff

That's awesome. Love the green base.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Gorgeous work. I vastly prefer the old terminators. Awesome job. Of course I also vastly prefer the pre-wolfy-wolf-mcwolferson Space Wolves.

Man oh man do I hate 2nd edition sculpts, but saying that, that's a lovely paint job you gave them

I'm the opposite. 2nd edition sculpts is what 40k is supposed to look like. Though I do like the earlier Rogue Trader ones a lot too.

Great clean paintjobs that really show off the fantastic old Termie sculpts! The smooth shading on the yellow shoulderpads is especially nice.

This...2nd ed Terminators are what they should look like.

While there are some issues with some 2nd ed stuff if you push that way as hard as possible, my favorite thing about the game was how you could get a good game in with way, way less miniatures.

Your wolves are turning out great. It makes me want to get my hands on some nice flat jaw orks.

Depending on characters, a 2000 point Space Wolves list can be around 24 models. 2000 points is around a 2-3 hour evening game in 2nd edition. By comparison Orks are around maybe 50-70 models at that size, depending.

However, the battlefield was far less deadly in 2nd edition...people actually occasionally rolled armour saves using actual dice (this is an ancient method and much of it has been lost to history and time, but I've seen it scribed on walls of ancient tombs). Apparently a dice is rolled and you actually can stop incoming gunfire. I know, sounds like a myth...

I probably have in the ballpark of 4000+ points of 2nd edition Eldar which is maybe 2000 points of 7th edition (don't know, don't play it, but the armies are huge).

So so beautiful! Nothing strikes my nostalgia bone quite like 2nd ed wolf terminators.

Gorgeous. I just picked up a couple lots of proper metal Termies on ebay last week to build up some squads myself. Managed to get a crapload of regular ones and a Squad of Deathwing, but I missed out on the Wolf lot and now I am sad. Will have to keep en eye out for more, because they look like a lot of fun to paint.

Lovely stuff, all my 2nd Ed stuff is stripped and ready to go (albeit a long way down the list of projects). I have a nice spread of termies, some SM characters and 20-30 eldar. All metal too, hopefully they end up looking half as good as these.

Gorgeous work...and it makes me even more sad to see how far Space Wolves have deteriorated in the pursuit of "Wolfness".

Prometheum, I have a listing on eBay right now for some Wolf Guard metal terminators. They were a bit of a rescue:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262633363687?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

I started doing a 2nd ed. Space Wolf force and gave up (I really can't get away from Eldar). My Eldar force sits at 5400+ points at the moment, which would take roughly seven weeks to complete a game.

Olly, keep up the work man, these things just get better and better!
