Have made some progress on my Shadowseer. Wanted to share the WIP so far:

Really nice entries so far.

That shadowseer is looking great, very atmospheric =)

Zachs entry is awesome as usual and Zobo's rockers are fantastic, I cant wait to see the paint job on that one.

For a long time I had heard of the problems with frosting when using purity seal but never had an issue, until last Monday. I guess 10 mins shaking is too little, (it wasn't humid either). I think I'll be going back to Humbrol acrylic varnish, (I should also of tested it first).

I spent an evening trying to save my model (gloss varnish then brush on matt varnish) and it worked to some extent but close inspection reveals ugliness. I hadn't done the staff when I did the purity seal so I had to paint over the rough surface which was pretty annoying.

Anyhow, excuses aside, ;-), my entry this month

Finally got started:

First try at a brown skinned girl.

I feel I'm getting closer to what I want to achieve on the face. The photo reveals that the left eye socket is messed up though, so I'll have to go back and revise. Might want a bit more blue/umber tones towards the edges too. I think I need to tone down the rest of the body to make the highlights smaller. Trial and error. Feedback appreciated.

I think the skin tone is great. It looks as her skin has sheen to it, nice look. As you say face needs a little more work but it's looking great.

@Elbows: thanks, he was fun to do (except for the purity seal incident)

Almost done with him, needs his base, bolt pistol and a bit of detail work left on him.

Doing a Norsgard Silver Fury this month, I think.

Proof

(ignore the demon, he was my 'bleah I'm not feeling this' backup)

Almost done, except the base:

The skin's actually highlighted up, but I can't get it to show very well, and I think I should have gone darker on the base coat--was worried about losing the very white/bright color feel to it though, and not sure what color I'd use.

Here's my completed Shadowseer. Decided to wrap him/her up tonight. Threw some photos into photoshop to make a montage that I think looks nice. Enjoy!

Liking that very much, Vejut! The pale skin works really well!

I've not really done much with my dragon except relocate the eye and started building the base.

Just the mouths, eyes and base to do on this fella then on to the other two . Shattered Dominion bases so that it fits the Silver Tower theme .

Hey Guys

The start of sept has been crazily busy for me so not been able to do any work or check on how things are going in the tread until now. Great job to those that have finished already.

Few quotes I need to catch up on so might be a long post.

Or Highlander.

You rang? One of my earlier conversions, Connork Mkcloud. Also because para linked a Queen song to a challenge

Although I am doing okay getting through it - I've been really good at not buying more. Must finish my marines before I buy more. Must be strong!!

I recently made a list of my shame piles because it was getting out of hand, Currently about 1050 models unpainted and unbuilt (tank counts as 1 model)
I'll send them to Para and they will be finished next week

Aww thanks for the vote of confidence, if I had more time this month I might have tired it since a few people have suggested it (Brian May's Hair would have been the biggest challenge)

really likely the look of Zobos rockers

Anyway my Proof, an Ork Weirdboy, no conversion this month. (well a very small one on the leg to cut the tyre off)

Hello all!

I have never tried one of these before and, apart from a Armies on Parade last year, have never been in a painting competition either. So, I apologize if I'm a little out of bounds or anything. My librarian was based red originally since he was going to be a Blood Angel, but since even in the codex, they are majority blue, I went back and repainted the whole thing. Sorry if a little bit of the red comes through.

lots of nice work popping up on this page so far guys, keep it up!

I feel like it's been a while since I posted a WIP here, I've been keeping it to my seperate PLOG thread so as not to fill this thread with my ravings

...anyway, here's a couple of pics of how mine's going so far...the wagon's about 3/4 done so far I'd say, and I've made a start on the rockers, got their skin mostly done, although the highlights don't show up too great on my phone cam, meh...

Finish my Dark Apostle this morning and took the final pictures. The sun isn't really fealing it today so they turned out a little dark. I had fun building him and was really happy to see that he fit the challenge (by chance) so it gave me a reason to paint him up as well.
Lots of great models in here and I'm looking forward to seeing them all finished up!

Pneumo, do you have any photo editing software? I clicked on your pic to see the full size in the gallery, and the mini is a lot more clear there. Just cropping away the white space should let us see more of it in the default pic size here on Dakka.

I know the Photos program on macs has some basic tools, and a few of us here use a free program called PhotoScape to do some post-production work.

@Pneumo: I just grabbed your image from your gallery and did this with photoscape... its worth doing as it really brings out the details better. If you want to send me your original image I'll happily modify it for you and email you it back. (Great work btw, I love the banner)

(I'll delete this image later as its not mine )
