I'm hoping some of these new toys get rules for DWOK like they did with Deathwatch.

It's a truck, not a tank. Though I am not familiar with vehicle rules being a Nid player, are they different? You saying a truck and tank at the same Angleofvengence?

Being a tyranid player is no excuse for not knowing vehicle rules in the game. Surely you face vehicles on a regular basis.

"truck' Isn't a vehicle type in 40k.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

is the intention that you're supposed to make the guardsmen more cult-like with bits from the neophytes kit, or that the IG allies are simply hypnotized humans?

Yes to both.

You sure about that? There's stealers riding in the Goliath truck...

You might want to take a closer look at the picture. There are only hybrids in the vehicle. Genestealers (including the Broodlord/Patriarch) will never ride in vehicles.

The Goliath Truck will be an open-topped vehicle; obviously used to transport hybrids into close assault.
The Goliath Rockgrinder will also be open-topped but I doubt that it will have any transport capacity. If it does, it will likely be a diminished amount.

I wonder if there are weapon emplacements? If so I want to mod some of acolytes to look like the Team Fortress team, lol

Man, what a great release, that new goliath is truly an awesome design! Love the intricacy and multi-level detail, really impressed, give more vehicles to whoever did the CADs for those!

I have to say though, maybe my ego talking, but I feel as if somebody at GW may have had a VERY close look at my custom cult... The scheme on the goliath is a tad familiar, who would have thought GSC Limo would be a re-purposed APC looking vehicle with a blue frost white paint scheme and a big dozer blade up front with center pointed chevrons? Anyways, once again very happy every inch of my custom GSC cult from 5 years ago will fit with these, right down the weapons lol!

Good for GW! After this, Sisters and Squats will be pretty much the only thing left they could possibly do before creating an entire new army! The only thing they would have been clever to do do would have been to introduce alternate body deco's to the neophyte and acolytes, civilian bodies for 4th gens, perhaps a different armor style for 1st-3rd to show the 'all walks of life' nature of the force-

Well that was rude. The internet never seizes to amaze me. I am a geek/dork. I am not smart enough to be a nerd. You are a geek/dork/nerd. I don't know about you, but we use to get picked on in our day over stuff like this. Just amazed to be called out on not being smart enough to play with plastic toy soldiers.

I hope you are happy of embarrassing an almost 50 year old man who doesn't play very often, has a problem of remembering how things go and who is going through depression but tries to get into this and be part of a community.

I guess I will need to apologize to all of the internet of not being smart enough on how to play with plastic toy soldiers, and I will need to be flogged tarred and walk into the streets naked for not knowing how 40K rules work.

Not open topped?

It's literally open topped, it has an open compartment at the back for the passengers.

If it doesn't have the open topped rule, that's going to be a bit of a head scratcher.

Yep. Nothing yet. I haven't been this excited for a release in a long time. GSC was my first army back in 2nd edition, and eventually became the basis for my Tyranid army. I never thought they would see the light of day again. Very pleased to be wrong!

The rock crusher truck is a beauty. I am in love. If only I hadn't just bought into Deathwatch last week...

Glad I checked in on the thread, F5 refresh didn't catch the preorders going up, they only showed after I logged in.

Looked at my email a minute ago, and the preorder announcement email came in just after the order confirmation email. Both stamped with the same time of arrival to my inbox.

As somebody who hasn't played 40k in many years but plans on getting these for painting / Space Hulk use what's the breakdown on game content vs fluff in a modern codex? Am I going to be missing out on a lot of fun background and art if I skip the codex to buy more models?

I wouldn't worry about the fluff if you aren't likely to use the rules content. Modern 40k codexes are pretty weak in the fluff department. Lots of hyperbole and not much in the way of characterful narrative.

Yes and no. The codices contain if anything more fluff and art these days than ever. The actual quality of that has, IMO, declined though - the fluff writing is very Saturday morning cartoon and the art is often more like Deviantart fan art and these days is only ever allowed to depict the actual models exactly as they exist.

I would try and get someone to let you flick through a copy first to see if it's to your taste before you fork over for one.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

As for the dice, on the one hand it's a bit disappointing that they're still doing symbols on the 1 side. On the other hand, at least that means I can freely mix these with my Tyranid dice from a few years ago.

Weird, it was after one, I kept refreshing nothing, still saw gorechosen. So I clicked on Tyranids, out of boredom and was shocked to see the Genestealer Cult stuff up. Ended up not getting the collector's edition, but got the bundle codex with dice and cards. Now I have an extra $100 for the truck/vehicle for next weeks orders.
