Interesting use of the sprue frame to act as the flight stands for these models! Very creative!

I'll have to pick some up when my budget allows. I can't wait to add those wings to some Mantic Abyssals or a MEdge Angel or ...something.

Interesting idea for sure.
It doesn't look like it's very well executed I'm afraid, but I do like the concept.

Agreed, some of the trees look more like spure than they should (that Y-shaped piece in the top painted picture for example). Still, its a nice idea and one a modeler with basic skills could help mitigate with some cutting and or adding in some etched brass foliage.

Agreed but it strikes me as a bit of a cop out. The models clearly look best with some type of flight stand or perch but asking people to cobble something together from Sprite bits rather than including something just leaves the models being based on a manner that doesn't look as good as it should.

Models look pretty good. Not aware of many decent harpy/gargoyle models out there that aren't singles, so definitely a worthwhile addition to the market place.

Well, despite the flaws in execution it is still an interesting direction to take, I like the outside the box thinking.

Looking at the painted Harpies I don't know if I'd prefer them with a traditional clear flight stand sticking out of their back sides or not. The "trees" they are on are not the best, but it seems like you can customize the "trees" to make a bunch of different variations for the harpies to perch on, which is infinitely more interesting to me than a bunch standard flight bases.

But the "trees" do look like crap as is, and needing to doctor them up with etched brass or anything else is only a band aid to the problem not a solution. I just like the idea of trying something different.

Does anyone know how the company is doing with the fulfillment of their IndieGoGo project they launched back in 2012? I assume that they just gave up on the project, kept the backer's money, and started doing other stuff instead. But I might be wrong?

Was that the dwarf one?

If so, some plastic kits got made but many didn't. They've basically said on their forum (but never in any official update I think) that backers may 'cash out' their pledge choosing from the dwarf kits that got made or wait for a unspecified time (translation: probably forever) for their kits to be made.

Campaigns like those are the reason I'm extremely vary about crowdfunding campaigns that turns out to be a success and the creators seem to come up with extra stretchgoals as they go along, rather than having it all planned from the start. If you reach all your stretchgoals, just stop there and focus on getting stuff out in a timely manner. Save the new stuff for the next campaign.

Very short notice but until the 18th AoW are having a 43% off sale on their actual plastic Dwarf Berserker box set, its down to 20€ and even with the 5€ flat rate ROW shipping its still quite a bit cheaper than buying from other retailers. Unsurprisingly AoW also seem to have massive problems keeping their stockists resupplied with their range, i checked 5-6 different web stores that sell AoW and not one of them even had the Berserkers in stock.

So at that price it might be worth dealing with the headache that is AoW, especially since it could take them years to get off their arses and send out new stock...

I would say the absolute opposite. If they cant resupply their retailers what makes you believe that they will be able to fulfill orders going in directly to their store? They have a proven history of not being able to send items out to their customers without delays upon delays. We have their IGG-mess, we have their own Warcast-material-mess, they can't supply retailers who carry them, etc.

Buy their products, because they are very nice and wonderful sculpted and at a good price, but I would strongly recommend people to buy them from an independend store that stocks them rather than having the risk of going through a bunch of headaches.

Problem is, it might take them years to ship that order you made to them directly as well.

Still, might be worth that risk for that price. Just be prepared to wait a while.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I went for it. I've been waiting for them to come back in stock with UK retailers for ages anyway, so sod it. It is a bit odd that you have to wait for them to manually confirm the order and bill your paypal - hopefully they'll honour the sale price even if it takes them ages to actually ask me to pay them.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal
