A gunman is at large after four people were killed in a shooting at a shopping centre in Washington state.

Police have released an image of the gunman, who they described as an Hispanic man wearing a black.

They say the motive for the shooting at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, 65 miles north of Seattle, is unclear.

"We are still actively looking for the shooter," Washington State Patrol spokesman Sergeant Mark Francis said at a news conference. "Stay indoors, stay secure."

Four women were killed and one man suffered life-threatening injuries in the shooting on Friday evening.
All of the victims were found in the makeup section of a Macy's department store.

Washington State Patrol trooper Heather Axtman told Sky News the gunman used a "rifle-type weapon".

Tari Caswell told the Skagit Valley Herald she was in a dressing room when she heard "what sounded like four balloons popping".

She told the newspaper: "Then I heard seven or eight more, and I just stayed quiet in the dressing room because it just didn't feel right. And it got very quiet.

"And then I heard a lady yelling for help, and a man came and got me and another lady, and we ran out of the store."

A worker at a restaurant close to the shopping centre said staff "immediately locked the doors" when they realised what was happening.

Stephanie Bose, an assistant general manager at Johnny Carino's Italian restaurant, said a boyfriend of one of her employees came into the restaurant after trying to go to the shopping centre.

She said he saw people screaming and police blocking the door with assault rifles.
"He was trying to go to the mall and people were screaming," she said. "It was frantic."

The Cascade Mall is an enclosed shopping centre that opened in 1990, according to the mall's website.

It features J.C. Penney, TJ Maxx, and Macy's stores, among other stores, restaurants and a movie theatre.

The FBI said it is helping local authorities as they investigate the shooting.

Its Seattle office wrote on Twitter that it "has no information to suggest additional attacks planned", but did not elaborate.

State governor Jay Inslee said he and his wife Trudi sent "condolences and prayers".

"Trudi and I send our condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for anyone injured. We urge residents to heed all safety and detour warnings.

"Stay close to your friends and loved ones as we await more information and, hopefully, news of the suspect's capture," he said.

The shooting comes less than a week after a man stabbed nine people at a mall in central Minnesota before being shot dead.

The FBI is investigating that attack as a potential act of terrorism.

As has been reported in some media, eyewitnesses initially described the shooter as a "young, hispanic male wearing black." So unless their reporters were right there, you usually report on what you've been told by witnesses...

Deflecting the "obvious" terror attack? So far, even the FBI has said that terrorism was not suspected. It could be a breakup gone bad... law enforcement officials have said that the Macy's where the shootings occurred is where the suspect's ex-girlfriend used to work (she hasn't worked there for months). This could be as "simple" as a twisted mind seeking revenge for the breakup, not knowing that she no longer worked there...

A suspect sought over a fatal gun attack at a shopping centre in Washington state on Friday evening has been captured, police say.
Police have named him as Arcan Cetin, 20, of Oak Harbor, Washington. He was born in Turkey and is a legal US permanent resident, officials say.
The arrest took place in Oak Harbor, a town south-west of Burlington where the shooting happened.
Five people were killed inside Macy's department store at Cascade Mall.
The FBI said there was no evidence that the shooting was linked to terrorism.
At a news conference, police said Arcan Cetin had been identified as a suspect after a car connected to him was seen on security camera footage at the shopping centre.
Lt Mike Hawley, of Island County Sheriff's Department, said the car was later spotted in Oak Harbor. He said he had been on his way to the scene when he saw the suspect by the side of a road and arrested him.
Lt Hawley said the man "said nothing, he was zombie like" and was not carrying a weapon.
So far, police say they know of no motive for the shootings.

A prayer service was held for the victims in the city of Sedro-Woolley, Washington
Police had launched a huge manhunt after the shootings, releasing a blurred photo of the suspect at the scene.
Three women and a girl were killed inside Macy's while a man later died in hospital.
The Seattle Times reported that the youngest victim was 16-year-old Sarai Lara, who had survived cancer as a young child.
Her mother described her as a happy, responsible, driven student.
Police say security cameras showed the suspect entering the shopping centre without a weapon. Ten minutes later the video shows the suspect entering Macy's with a rifle.
The gunman had fled the scene by the time police arrived.
A prayer service for the victims was held on Saturday evening at the Central United Methodist Church in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.
Five candles, one for each victim, were lit on a table in front of the church.
Burlington is about 65 miles (105km) north of Seattle.

I wonder what the cause was? My guess:
He appeared to have specifically target those women or one of them, perhaps she declined his advances, came into the store, killed the people in a small vicinity and then left, anyone else who got shot was probably in his way.

All the stuff I've seen on this guy makes it sound like it's a case of an unhinged individual finally snapping. Being Muslim, it appears in this instance, is just circumstantial and not tied to motive...why would he have left a mostly loaded gun on the counter instead unloading it and taking as many "infidels" as possible?

When he was arrested, he had a computer with him, so I'm sure we'll start seeing anything mined from the hard drive that could shed light on motive very soon.

The 20-year-old man accused of shooting and killing five people at a Washington state mall last week reportedly posted a blog with a photo of Islamic State group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leading some to believe his alleged rampage was linked to the terror group.

Though his motive was not immediately confirmed, it’s possible the attack is another in a string of attacks in the name of ISIS.

I believe the feeling is, and many dispute this, even though this is how it played out, that initially he was reported as Hispanic. That was initial reports. He was then later reported to be muslim, with radical ties. The media wanted to sweep this under the carpet, and did not update the story right away. In fact some did not even report it. So the scoff at the "Hispanic" version is simply because it was obvious it was false from the start.

Newsflash, as an American who has to live with domestic terrorism and gun violence, I am aware. I am talking about the Media's attempt in this particular case to misrepresent this situation.

I haven't lied, it was mis-reported, innocently I presume, then when it was found out, it was not then reported by all media outlets. Plus I have no agenda, I am not in a position to foster change, DD is certainly not going to solve the radicalization problem.
