As an aside, I’ve heard that the Arkham City Limits Facebook group lost its Official status. Can’t say for sure though as I too am banned from it.

The admins who run that and the HP site Re the same, and God forbid you mention the heavy handed ASL administration on the HP page...

ASL is still official, it was just renamed to Batman miniatures and DC Universe miniatures gaming and support group. They confirmed at the time it was still the official group but name changed to cover both DC Games and to avoid people applying who though it was for the Arkham computer Games.

So it's a 1 v 1 skirmish game on a board... I might be down for this.

To play devils advocate just a second, it no longer has the "Official" tag on the name or banner, and when asked about being official the response has been that they "still have developers here to answer questions."

Watched the youtube video.

Ehhhh.......not impressed. IMO a really bad first video about gameplay. Doesn't look very professional at all.

From the video:

Can;t say I'm impressed by the detail around Harry's glasses or that Death Eater's mask. Rules look fun, though.

For the better.

Can you imagine boardgamers buying this game and assembling resin miniatures? Or finding out this is a skirmish game? (Yes, BGG'ers actually think the HP novels aren't about fighting Death Eaters left and right. Silly them.)

Hopefully, they'll eventually sell the three main character without the box. I also figure this won't be the last HP game we'll see, anyway.

So, it's not an adventure game/dungeon crawler, but a beat your opponent up game?

Well, there goes my chance of selling this one to my household. A reskinned version of their DC game wasn't really what I was looking for - the minis are rather nice looking, though.

I've not watched the video, but on the face of it it looks somewhat reminiscent to Imperial Assault's skirmish mode.

I wonder if there was a boardgame (or at least a rough draft of one) but they couldn't get it signed off

but they were able to get this?

Those are certainly some wonderful minis. The likenesses on some of them are absolutely bang-on, especially Lucius, Sirius, Mad-Eye and Wormtail.

I'll have to see how/if they're available as either individuals or sets without a bunch of extra game stuff, as I'd like to paint a few but not if it's going to require me to buy a game I don't really want.

Its clearly set up to be a KS. The KM Facebook still has the KS date and logo.

There are "additional minis" and unlocked add-ons.

And chance KS didn't want to work with KM? Is it possible KS is the one that backed out?

Some of the likenesses are stunningly good (mostly the older characters) but I think the Hermione and Harry figures in particular look a bit weird. Ron is relatively faithful. They'd probably have been better off sculpting them in the civvy clothes they bomb around in in the last couple of films, rather than the flowing robes they basically don't wear. I'm really into the DCU game and would probably give this a bit of a play and paint the models, I'm just a bit wary of the way KM have gone back and forth on this and the extreme delay in getting it even to this point. It's not something I'd buy into in the hopes of it really taking off, that's for sure.

Shipping only to the UK, us and Spain. Whelp, that's my decision made for me.

Given Kickstarter's refusal to remove extremely dodgy projects, I find that unlikely

Maybe it's the Harry Potter / J.K.Rowling folks not wanting a Kickstarter to be done? I could definitely see that, as sometimes if there are fulfillment issues it can result in negative press rather than the positive of just putting out a game?

Eh, I think KM realized that the webstore better targeted their audience of KM customers, who knew what to expect from a KM product, namely fragile resin miniatures and a miniatures skirmish game. If you look on BGG, they're frothing at how KM did not create a product *they* wanted, namely inexpensive miniatures and a boardgame that was HP, not skirmish. I think KM should have put out a miniatures-only line, so that the boardgamers wouldn't have noticed it. Boargamers and fragile resin models are a *very* bad combination.

Yes, I know Dakkanauts wouldn't have any problems with Wands of Blastybits, but, as I understand it, HP isn't about fighting monsters and stuff.

Really glad this hasn’t gone to Kickstarter tbh, I think as everyone who has ever done a Kickstarter for minis has had delays and it would be extremely bad press for the game if it happened limiting the countries of shipping seems odd but again could be due to not wanting to be overwhelmed after all they are a relatively small company who may struggle to deliver the mass Kickstarter pledges. Just look at Hawk, Mantic and even CMON have struggled occasionally I will be doing a preorders for certain.

I assume there will be delays regardless, given the Batman stuff tends to always be delayed as well. The shipping I feel has to be a case of limited distribution rights. There’s just no reason a company in Spain could ship to the US but not the EU.

The replies on KM's FB page seem to be all over the place. At one point it's "We can't deliver this game out of this region ever. We could create new games later other time. Warner and Rowling just licenced it this way. We are sorry we can't reach more countries", at another it's "Pre order only, no retail", and then they're inviting retailers to contact them directly.

'm guess the limiting the sale to the countries and only through their webstore was a bad translation. It has to be, surely?

Either way, the communication is an absolute mess.

For anyone interested, the pre-orders are now live.

I'm kind of wary about the project given there is so much ambiguity to what they are saying, but you get PayPal protection with this one, so bought in the base game, voldemort and dementor.

they will be fun to paint if nothing else.

How long does PayPal protection last? The game’s not due out till September.

I'd assume it has something to do with the license holder not wanting it to go to KS.

Yeah, it looks like a combination of that and the inability to ship to any countries other than US, Uk, and Spain. Sounds like KM only have the licenses for those countries, and that's become the biggest hurdle for this game right now.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Apologies if this has been posted already - got an email from Wayland Games about it now being up for pre-order, have to say they are looking pretty good!

Don't know why I am surprised as they are done by Knight Models, but there are some damn good likenesses of the actors involved in the film.
