Hello all!
After a six year hiatus I am slowly but surely diving back into the hobby realm!
A few weeks back I got all of my old Imperial Guard, and I've begun the long process of stripping , rebuilding, and repainting my forces.
I figured a blog like this might help keep me motivated to stay on track.
As always C&C Is welcome and appreciated!
First up is my collection of armor!
Ended up being able to salvage three Leman Russ Tanks, and two buggies (with major repairs). The Taurox and Chimera are recent additions
Buggy #1:
the rear side hatches were torn off, so I ended up having to cover the gaps with styrene.
I also had to rebuild the axles, suspension and new crew models.
Planning on finding some sort of wheel for the driver, but no luck so far.
Buggy #2
Very similar to #1 with minor variations.
Once I do some painting and weathering, the chewed up parts of the wheels should be hidden
I'm planning on using these as sentinels in game, but some people have suggested those buggys from forge world. Any suggestions?
Oh also! What would be good to use as rope to simulate the cargo being tied down?
Taurox:
Not too much done besides adding gear. however, I'm planning on picking up the Blood and Skulls Industries Wheel kit to make it look more like an MRAP.
Chimera
Again not a ton done to this one, treads will be added after painting.. Next time I make one, I'm tempted to add armor plating similar to the german Panzer IV's.
Leman Russ #1
Added lots of gear, along with new secondary weapons and a turret side hatch.
the only real fabrication was the replacement for the driver window.
Leman Russ #2
Not too much repair work on this guy either, thankfully it was pretty intact.
Had some spare doors left over, so I made some sponson hatches (I've been playing too much Battlefield One)
I also added some additional armor plating to the left side of the turret since it was pretty scratched up.
Leman Russ #3 (although technically its an Eradicator I think)
Had to do a lot of work to this one. The turret, rear of the tank, sponson tops, and some of the front plating were all pretty rough.
Used some Tiger I bits and spare sherman parts to create a new engine vent system in the back.
The original cannon was pretty trashed, so I saved the muzzle break and made a new one!
Hella Cargo cages
I am also slowly but surely getting the Bolt Action starter kit set up for my local hobby store.

Your tank conversions are superb!
You had asked what you could use for tie-downs.
-You could use those nylon self-locking tie straps:
https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-5831/Cable-Ties-and-Tools/Black-UV-Stabilized-Nylon-Cable-Ties-8-40-lb?pricode=WY529&gadtype=pla&id=S-5831&gclid=CLa5qar9q9ACFY9bfgodHvIPDg&gclsrc=aw.ds
-Or you could use cargo netting (mesh from a sponge or from a bag of oranges). I put some on my Manticore:

Very nice work on those tabks buddy! I'm particularly impressed with the storage bins/cargo cages that you have made (I may have to pinch that for my own tanks at some point!).

Quick update and painting progress
Hello again!
Unfortunately no 40k pics this time. I felt like I needed to get some progress into my Bolt Action guys, so I finished an American Squad.
The eyes look a bit wonky, but I think I'm getting better!
On the 40k side of things, a black friday sale forced me to get the "Start collecting" Militarium Tempestus kit and a Tech-Priest. So! be on the look out for that stuff soon!

Beep Beep!
Finished constructing the Tempestus kit, so now I have a nice group of Scions to grab troops from.
Honk Honk!
Also built the Taurox Prime (right)
Decided to change up the turrets on the prime and the standard truck.
Also got some time to make a few heavy weapons teams.
Since that picture was taken, I grabbed the ejecting shells bit from the Mega Nobz sprue and added it to the other side of the Heavy Bolter.
I'm particularly proud of the Mortar base.
Robot Rock
I didnt really like the tank tread skirts SO I REMOVED THEM!!
On a whim I also grabbed the deathwatch kill-team.
I super love the crazy poses you can get out of these guys.
I know nothing is painted yet, but some stuff is primed!

Oh! I also finally managed to piece my baneblade back together!

Howdy everyone! Thanks all for the kind words!
First up are some kit bashed veterans with weapons from the genestealer neophytes set.
I know autoguns are no longer in the codex, but I thought they would provide some nice variety.
After completing the Techpriest I figured I would have to make some servitor buddies.
I have also finished basing my new armored sentinel.
I also managed to magnetize it.
And last but not least...an actually painted mini!!!!
2 down... Oh so many to go...

It's gauze! I soaked it in a mix of OD paint, water, and pva glue.

Glad you are back on the horse. Looks like a nice model, as long as you can keep up the demands of a Guard army's numbers. Two models at a time is a good pace, keeps you from being discouraged trying to do a whole squad or platoon at once. If you check out my Necromundian Guard PLOG you will see what I mean.
Good luck with the army.
Cheers,
CB
