Because they figured there was enough demand? GW have been on an "obscure faction" kick for a couple of years now. Given the success of the Mechanicus armies, Deathwatch and Genestealer Cults, they may have decided it was time to revisit Sisters and the other Imperial hangers-on.

And since fans of those factions are so loyal to the old imagery, why make new kits? I mean, if they'd released GC with the old models (ignore how dated they'd have looked for the purposes of this argument...) they'd probably still have been snapped up.

Because the models are 20 years old, everyone who wants them already has them, they're so expensive HH players cry manly tears about it and everyone who is already a fan of SoB and was hoping for new plastics will be furious until it fades into general dissappoint and they play with the exact same models they've had since 2nd Ed. It's a stupid strategy, they'll sell a bunch of immolators and a handful of squads for newness factor and then it'll be back to the same ol' same ol'

I still don't think this is the rumored Sisters release as that was rumored for Q1 2017. This seems more like an attempt to clear out old inventory before that happens. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but this would run counter to what GW has become in the last year.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

I'm hoping VeteranNoob will chime in. This is supposed to be a codex per VeteranNoob. I thought it would have like one or two sister units, like they listed with greyknights. But now it looks like this is the new sister codex? I'm not sure what to think yet.

My money is on a tweaked Sisters list. That is unless this has all new rules and we get the new models later as GW used to do.

Everyone needs to chill. Surely this is just the one last hurrah for the metal sisters to clear out the stock. If they were keeping them long term they would have surely converted them all to resin.

Probably true. Sadly save for the new resin Canoness I've already got at least 1 of the every model in the range (to include a Ephrael Stern model) so I'm not jumping on buying more right now. I have noticed that it looks like GW brought back the old squad boxes for Sisters, though I can't figure out why they put a Canoness model in the Dominon Squad.

They didn't, it is a mistype.

Also, the squads are different than they were before. The BSS has a melta instead of a flamer and a simulacrum.

Ah, you're right. Guess they got their "models holding an icon" mixed-up.

And I didn't mean that the squads were the same, just that they're giving us boxes of models instead of only blister packs of models. I was speaking conceptionally more than strictly literal.

Did they? I'm not seeing one.

EDIT: Nevermind!

That's not a Canoness. They just straight up don't care what they're thowing into the bundles enough to check everything.

Well, running pure Codex Grey Knights is now moot. :-p My book was already mediocre with only the Dreadknight being stand-out. Now I can run those without the tax, in a better over-all army.

Time to go raid the wife's Sisters of Battle case.

No idea how reliable this is. It is bols after all. http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2016/12/gw-rumors-january-2017-releases.html

Apparently there are indeterminable Xenos minis coming. If this is true. I hope it's a new faction, but am expecting they misidentified the "xenos" models for a fantasy races models or some mix up.

Edit
Apparently Sisters with a four kit release and a stand alone codex. Some sort of new starter set Sisters vs Xenos of some sort allegedly.

... where are the Heavy Flamers and Heavy Bolters? We've got Multimeltas, Meltas, Flamers, frigging Storm Bolters... but no HFs or HBs.

Sign of things to come, maybe?

She needs a new model and would be the first of them to get a new sculpt.

Well they failed to mention the Tzeentch Arcanites and if this in the December issue of WD is anything to go by I'm pretty sure they're coming too...

I think this is the release and its actually more than what I expected, I'm pleased with the new Canoness and the return of the Immolator (with a resin top hatch maybe? not sure)

Metal figs can easily be turned into ingots to be gotten rid of, and it isn't exactly good business to make a mountain of models you have to sell. GW may not be the most brilliant of companies but I'm sure they understand basic rules about unsold inventories.

Now, I just want my Sororitas tactical cards.

Playable solo LotD would be great too....

A ton of armies and a terrain habit...

To be fair, Tzeentch Arcanites are a known quantity. We got the name and faction in Grand Alliance: Chaos.

Except GW's ENTIRE business model is making mountains of models they have to sell and honestly they could skip straight to the ingot thong with how little long term interest there will be in these reboxes. Sidebar: Thr margins on these must be insane with the whole line averaging 10$ US Per model.

Yes, because no one else sells good looking and affordable resin Sisters...

The rumour mongers did say Canoness for December and plastic Sisters in the new year. I'm beginning to think the Sisters vs. Xenos game might be a thing. Might need to sock away some Xmas money...

Needs a new model??? Celestine remains one of Jes' best sculpts. An absolutely stunning character model. Would I mind a new multipart plastic kit at least supervised by Jes? No, I would not mind.

But to say she needs a new model is to claim the current one is outdated or sub-par.

And she absolutely isn't.
