This can't be a real thread. "Collecting terrorists" for having a Tallarn army? Having any objection to DKoK? If you've seriously encountered a person who said this the problem is you know a racist , not some nonsense about "political correctness".
|
There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Probably nothing in all of 40K, not even Tau. Not that much else to say, actually. If you see the regiments as an homage to actual, existing fighting forces (also, tallarn is more "Lawrence of Arabia" than anything else), you just look at the design and the effort put in it in creatig a reference, to a single army or to 2-3. Is purely cosmetic, and is part of the guard appeal and its being attractive to people interested at least in part in historical. Also, DKK are not exclusively German (and this is valid for other regiments like Steel Legion). Also, does not seem to me that they celebrate WWI, since they show how terrible a war meatgrinder is. If you want to see a political meaning into 40k, no faction is better than despicable. Is the tone of the setting.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?
Your army could suffer Post-Chapterhouse Stress Disorder (PCSD)! If you think that your army is suffering one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, call us at 789-666-1982 for a quick diagnosis! |

To be honest, this sounds like an excellent way of weeding out people you don't want in your life. Just terminate your relationships with anyone that calls Tallarn terrorists more than once, in a non-joking manner.

They look nothing like terrorist armies, accusing you of this just shows their limited world vieuw. Unless you are one of those guys who paints them all in modern terrorist heraldry, including the well known flags etc. Things have also been said about my Death Korps, Ice warriors and other armies I have
Death Korp however does have a strong european WOI / II feel, I don't mind it but I can remember some WOII themed steel legion guard armies being banned at German events in the past.

Thanks for the support. I forgot to mention when I had a display at a club of my steel legion, battling my speed freaks, someone referred to Yarrick as a 'Nazi-robot-thing'

I don't know what you could bring to the table to be banned in 40K, when there is Bolt action where people are actually fielding the Waffen-SS.
I could imagine questionable displays which depict the Holocaust or other warcrimes, but even then... if it's not glorified, I'd consider it as historical art. But I guess for some people there is a line where it just gets too real to enjoy as wargame.

The difference with Bolt Action is that it's a historical wargame; unless there is some kind of mission where the German player has to burn people alive in their houses while the Russian player tries to fend them off, I don't think political correctness can be factored in there. Even so, that's still a historical event - reenacting it on a tabletop is hardly politically incorrect, unless you are providing some kind of political commentary over it that is tuned to be offensive.
Does Bolt Action even have Russians?
40k is a fantasy universe - it'd be ludicrous to try and accuse it of being politically incorrect as such.

And this surprises you ?
To be fair, a large portion of the 40k and modern sifi is directly or indirectly based on parody like what if the nazi's won type of scenario's.

In another thread someone posted a display of a scene, where Imperial Guardsmen are about to rape an Eldar. I wouldn't consider that as offensive but rather a depicition of war crimes that are undoubtedly happening in the lore of 40K but are usually not expressed. I'd say it's the best way to make people think a bit more about the army that they are playing and partly criticize fanboyism.
Similar would be the depiction of the Orks in the audiologs in the Space Marine PC game, that show the dark side of these seemingly funny and ridiculous creatures, giving them more depth.

It all depends on the venues interpretation of the anti nazi symbolism law. You could say that your mini's are art or simply don't care but I know quite a few places who would certainly see it as Nazi propaganda and outright ban it ( or at least they would years ago when I visited these places ).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafgesetzbuch_section_86a Automatically Appended Next Post: Also notice that bolt action only features the German style + sign in all of their decals / art. There is no banned nazi symbolism to be seen in their entire collection.

I'm pretty sure the topic has been seen to already. There's no way to argue that owning a Tallarn or DKoK army is politically incorrect; whoever's giving the OP a hard time about it at their LGS needs to feth off out the door into another hobby.

As someone who collects Krieg miniatures, I just want to add that their uniforms is at the very least as much French as they are German. And they're not even WW2 German. Germany at the time of WW1 was a democracy and not a fascist dictatorship.
I would have an issue with people putting swastikas on their guardsmen though.

It was off topic when the OP used "political correctness" to describe a moron being a moron.
Heck, associating any depiction of vaguely Middle Eastern people with support for terrorism should be recognised as the polar opposite of ' PC', even to those who use the term as an insult.

Just wanted to correct that, germany was in no way democratic, it was a monarchy in WW1 and became a democracy after the novemberrevolution at the end of the war. This democracy then was replaced/destroyed whatever you may call it, by the NSDAP.
