Look, I'm as happy about the superb new Sisters models as any of you poor SoB victims, but if anyone thinks 40k End Times will be about anything but Primarchs, they really haven't been paying attention.

Valten says hi. Remember him? 3 versions of him in the timeframe of about a year IIRC.

You do know that was deliberate to show his age progression during the Storm of Chaos campaign right?

I don't understand all the negativity going on in this thread.

We just got previewed some gorgeous models. St. Celestine and the Gemini are beautiful minatures. Those are easily the best female faces GW has ever done. The proportions are excellent, and detailing modest and appropriate. I love the "thorn" garter an rose motif. I'll just assume that the Gemini replace her cherubs. I'm gonna miss those undead winged babies, they were one of my favorite Grim/dark things. I'm not sure is it necessary but you should be able to either reinforce them with clear acrylic rods or magnetize them. Then we have a glorious Arch Magos model and a fluff accurate Ordo Heriticus Inquisitor. These are all good things.

I'm not worried about the Fall of Cadia, things are at long last starting to matter and 40K again instead of perpetual stalemate. Sisters and Black Templars on a cursade to save Cadia led by the last Living Saint that is epic! Bring it on I say. The war in the webway, the 2nd battle of Terra. I am ready.

Advancement of any timeline in any game has to be done carefully lest it be the catastrophe that was White Wolf's awful Time of Judgment. Or the rather stalemate in Warmachine / Hordes or the ehh of how L5R handles it. ( One of the bad guys has his own approved clan now )

Oh and let's not forget the terribad End Times of Warhammer

I really hope that it never reaches Terra, or leave the Cadian sector as honestly I'm very hesitant to have HH 2.0 this time it's for reals honest gov (P.S. no daddy issues) . Because I don't think it would work.

I don't trust the same writers who made End Times to deliver, sorry.

S.Y.

I get where your coming from. But....I and many others enjoyed End times, and Age of Sigmar...crazy I know. I bought the books and many of the models and didn't feel cheated by it. I also enjoyed the old world, but I don't miss it though. But really we need to stop comparing the too. Fantasy was dying. 40K is very much alive as is 30K. We might not like some of the new background but GW is not going to nuke the Universe.

I'm all for Cadia falling. Its but one of the millions of Imperium's worlds, and it makes narrative sense given how they developed the story. Having daemonic incursions erupt all over the segmentum leaves the Imperium in a tough place. Either bleed off the defensive fleets and units around Cadia to shore up defenses elsewhere or sacrifice billions to chaos....only making it stronger.

I don't even have a problem with a second battle of Terra as long as the development is logical and makes sense. The war between the Imperium and Chaos has been cold for a long time. It'll be a pleasant change to have it turn hot for awhile. I doesn't have to end in victory or defeat to either side, we might only see a re-drawing of some borders.

I'm glad that you enjoyed End Times and enjoy AoS, fair play to you. I was told my army wouldn't be killed of and yet it was.

Do you understand what will happen if the Traitor Legions hit Terra again? And actually kill the Emperor ? Gg world dead, Dark Imperium. Or Eye of Terror 2.0.

Or 50k AoS. 2.0. Old Emps didn't die he just transcended and slapped the chaos Gods.

I want to make this clear, I like the Tzzangors. I really do, I think AoS has helped GW create some fantastic models and some wonderful artwork.

I truly desperately hope that it never reaches anywhere near Terra, I'm fine with A mechanicus Civil war, I'm fine with almost anything up to Necromunda falling. Even then if it saved Earth yeah okay ill take the hit for my favourite Setting.

Reaching Earth is a Game over for 40k it might as well just be AoS with Boltguns.

Anyway. Youve made me see AoS in a better light. Thank you.

S.Y.

P.S. we do need compare how they handled the Transition from End Times into AoS as this could very well be the 40k equivalent.

They saw how it boosted those sales, I'm guessing they think they could pull off another sales boosting reboot.

You just presented a legitimate reason for why they could have multiple St Celestines. You can use the same reason, to show her progression during the 40K End Times. To me Celestines new model looks very bland, only thing that makes her special are the wings. You could put a normal sisters jet pack on her and she'd be any other Seraphim. Heck they all have almost identical swords, so the Gemini swords are lesser ardent blades with built in flamers instead of heavy flamers?

If GW limits the plastic sisters to this trio of characters and leaves their infantry as $100+ per box of aging metal I think I know what I'll be complaining about...

But frankly I think the whole 'legitimate grievance' angle makes sisters whiners inherently less irritating than say, people who crow about how games workshop will definitely declare bankruptcy this month, or the people who've been bemoaning the inevitability of 40k end times for a good two years now.

Fair, but based on their latest releases, I'd say odds are good you'll get more than just this trio.

They won't do that though. Valten and Archaon were the stars of a world wide campaign. Celestine is a co-star of a supplement. It's not quite on the same scale. It would be nice to see, but it won't happen. Besides, that's quite a nice part of Celestine's story. That she was an ordinary woman (a repentia in fact if my memory serves), not some golden poster boy.

I'm going to be brutally honest here.

This is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to start lamenting them killing off 40k or anything like that. We don't know what will happen. The Cadian Gate is a critical point of entry from the Eye of Terror for the fact that it's a stable gateway where ships can be brought through en masse. But that doesn't mean Cadia falling will give Chaos unfettered access to Terra or the solar system.

P.S. we do need compare how they handled the Transition from End Times into AoS as this could very well be the 40k equivalent.

They saw how it boosted those sales, I'm guessing they think they could pull off another sales boosting reboot.

The transition from End Times into AoS was never going to be smooth. It's moving the setting from a single world to a multi-planar setting.

What boosted sales in End Times was:
A) New characters and units for three of the most popular factions(Chaos, Skaven, and Vampire Counts). Notice that the "Good Guys" didn't actually get anything at all.
B) New books with rules for everyone. If Khaine hadn't brought in new rules for Magic, I doubt it would have sold as well as it did.
C) New combined army lists. I saw a lot of Elf stuff get sold as soon as we saw the "Combined" Elf lists.

The third part is something we can already do in 40k right now. The other two are something that has been done over the course of the past year. Lots of supplemental material with model releases attached to it.

Lion El'Johnson is the only one of the 3 who is known to be alive-ish.

We know from "The Beast Arises" series that Vulkan is still active circa that timeframe, and that he is keeping an eye on the Imperium while retaining a low profile.
Corax and Vulkan are unknowns, same as the Khan and Russ.

Fb was top 3 seller when gw decided to kill it. Problem wasn't it didn't sell. Problem was it didn't sell as well as marines.

Of course it was a top 3 seller, they only had 3 main lines at the time (40K, Hobbit, FB).

Uh, no. LotR/The Hobbit was trailing wwwwaaayyyy behind Fantasy for years.

WHFB was pulling a profit, just not enough to make GW happy. So they realised if they blewup the universe they had an excuse to shoehorn Not-Space Marines in. From then on its fate was sealed.

How about something as bland as the Celestant Prime, I am thinking more of Archon. What, he was on a tiny horse before and now has a grand mount. I would love to see something like this for Celestine kit. Something more grander than the Celestant Prime and something more like the new Archon kit. I don't know how it can be done, but would love to see it.

Sad how threads like this that have exciting stuff always get derailed by SoB gakking even when they finally are getting neat stuff too

Or people like you doing nothing more than complaining about Sisters players. Pot Kettle Black. it would be better to actually contribute to the discussion in some way rather than just complaining don't you think?

The thread has gone off on a tangent about how this could be the End Times and its more about that and the loss of the whole current story and characters like Creed, Cadia as a whole and then there has a been a couple of mentions about if Celestine will die (again), mainly along the lines that GW often does this to allow Marines the lime light as has been seen in most campaign packs.

I love the new Sisters models - immediate purchase - along with the Canoness when they finally have her available again.

I think it could be the herald for 8th edition but I am not convinced they would go as far as they did in WFB as they donlt need to - they can advance the story without the slate being clean.

I am looking forward to many new things for many factions - Exodites, More Xenos, Sisters

I hope they will look at some of the neglected marine chaptrers ratehr than just Bloody Blood vampire or Wolfy Wolves or or so secrative Dark Angels (*) - A proper stealth team for Raven Guard, Salamnder Firedrake Terminators - one or two well done lore units for a variety of Chatpers not just another tired hackneyed variation on something Wolfy.

(*) i have Space Wolf and Dark Angels armies

Perhaps if you got a few pages back you can see multiple contributions to the discussion by myself.

Contribution that was drowned out by the "not good enough' crowd

Went back to page 18 and the only post I coud see of yours it the one I quoted.

As I said there are a variety of discussisons going on - much of the issues seems to be more around the death of WFB which has nothing to do with Sisters of Battle.

Im gonna be ok with just the Celestine for now, I think this is the most excited I've been to wanting to paint a miniature, she will look stunning blazing with light in the midst of a tidal wave of Black clad marines. Anyone painted the impression of holy light or emitting fire before? Just a load of yellows and whites?

Me too - she looks fantastic - I can't paint but lookign forward to someone capturing that image in model form

"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001

I find it hilarious everyone is speculating whether or not Celestine will die on Cadia, and how that invalidates the model....

I mean, isn't her whole shtick how she dies and comes back?

I fully expect her to die in some glorious manor, and for the defenses to later falter only for her to return like the living saint she is in the darkest hour of battle.

Frankly I would be surprised and let down if she didn't die She is the perfect martyr for such a story line. She can die more often then Kenny and it shouldn't reflect on her models sales.

Now, the killing of Abby at the start of his crusade would have a much greater impact and create a head scratch of a hurdle for them. I think it is safe to assume he survives the fall of Cadia without a sweat.

How about this, Celestine is killed in the Fall of Cadia and is reborn by the Emperor with a even bigger kit ala Celestant Prime size for the final defense on Terra.
So you would have a normal Celestine kit that can also be used as something as something else and later another Living Saint kit that is a truly big LoW.

Dorghar, Archaon's horse, was and always has been a Daemonic Mount. It always just took the form of a bigger than average horse.

The reason Dorghar is so "grand" now? It ate a Greater(well, Greatest) Daemon from one of each of the three Ruinous Powers who can exercise their power. Part of the backstory for Archaon now is that after the fall of the original setting, Archaon kind of...drifted. When Chaos found Sigmar's creations, Archaon came back. The Ruinous Powers each sent one of their Greater(est) Daemons to kill Archaon.

After he killed all three of them, Dorghar consumed their essences and thus we get New Dorghar.
