If Celestine is a dual kit, does that mean we can use the leftover plastic Sisters parts to upgrade a Grey Knights squad?

They aren't really like dinosaurs at all though. They are more like locusts than dinosaurs, definitely.

In an old dev studio interview they noted that while players might call them "bugs" the studio very much sees them as crazy space dinosaurs.

From Lexicanum

Indeed their very name is but a title given to them by the Imperium, named after the planet where they were first encountered (Tyran).

Have I dropped into a parallel universe? (Again?) I always thought that while his rules were consistently power-creepy, they had a consistency to them, it was the consistently poor handling of the lore in books he handled that drove people bonkers?

The Grey Knight's wacky blood hijinks, the dreaded 'Newcrons' that had monolith investors up in arms, the reasonably started weapon that shoots pure time, turning all space marines everywhere into moping ultramarine wannabes, re-writing the mentors' lore to be 'nothing that was written before is true, but I'm not offering anything to replace it'- all of this and more has been attributed to Ward by way of his involvement with these books, that's what had people banging their heads against their desks.

I'm still shocked by the constant fretting over the "End Times" or 40K. Is everyone just willfully ignoring the fact that Fantasy was a failing product line (read: not profitable) and that is why it got axed --- no other reason. It was not making money/ not selling enough.

Hence it was axed and replaced.

While 40K may get an overwhelming new rule set, 40K is the money-maker product for GW. They're not likely to gak can the whole fluff for fun. You may end up with AoS-style rules but you won't be having the fluff erased. Relax.

They're a mix of the bugs from Starship Troopers and the xenomorphs from Alien. They have nothing at all to do with dinosaurs.

an article by Jes Godwin where he stats that the whole BUG thing IS in fact a misconception about Nids.

The concept of Nids comes from Alien Dinosaurs.

You're right! He looks about twice as tall as the nearest Templar and I'm pretty sure DE aren't twice the size of a Space Marine. Would explain why the Templar's aren't purging him. Also: wearing fur, spiky eastern style helmet and what looks like a leopard print pattern on the shoulder guard, could be.

GW's design studio in the past asserted the original idea was space dinosaurs... maybe that was subterfuge to avoid those fictional comparisons.

This goes back to Rogue trader but in interviews from when the fourth edition Nid codex was done...

It had always been the intention to make them an expression of the Gribbly/B-movie alien Archetype, which the Alien, the Predator, the Thing, the Metaluna mutant are all expressions of rather than being archetypes themselves. I also wanted to play up the Reptilian/Dinosaur/Crustacean elements to get rid of the ‘insect’ tag, Tyranids should look like an amalgamation of lots of different species, you shouldn’t be able to pigeonhole them easily [The original brief for them at the time of Rogue Trader was for 6-limbed, bio-engineered dinosaurs in space]

Fantasy was making a profit. It just wasn't making one GW was satisfied with.

Fantasy was axed because they wanted Space Marine players to buy Fantasy models.

I'd actualy hazard to say that Fantasy was a loss pre-end times. Even at it's height it was outsold in it's entirety by marines. Before endtimes it was actually being outsold by the tactical marine boxset. End Times boosted it but it needed AoS or something similar. It was a weighted down and almost dead product line at that point.

Having some fresh scuttle butt, she's an optional construction variant in the seraphim box. And would be coming along with two other kits, one being a basic troops/elite?(Not sure what the second option was) multi-box and the other I've got no clue, but it's supposed to be another sisters box. All out by end of January.

Interesting. This jives with what I've heard whispers of too.

Guess we'll see what we'll see in short order. Merry Christmas indeed.

The fact Celestine dies and keeps coming back makes for a possible fun way to include her. Perhaps she dies in book one of the Fall of Cadia, but makes a triumphant return to turn the tide in book two. It would be pretty awesome. As for plastic Sisters of Battle, resin doesn't stop new kits from coming out. The Space Marine Veterans kits are still available despite plastic Sternguard and Vanguard Veterans being available. Other people have mentioned Cadians having plastic and resin kits. I am not counting out SoB plastic troops.

I am hoping for a plastic Emperor's Champion and a revamped Black Templars upgrade kit that works with the new kits. Hopefully it is more extensive than a simple small sprue like other Chapters have received.

Isn't that just poetic justice? Blizzard borrows heavily from GW's IP to make Warcraft, then GW returns the favor to make Tyranids actually look scary.

But Oxayotl is the real winner here, since we are discussing his troll bait.

There were some more Tyranids prior to Starcraft, like the Trygon and the Bio-titans.

But then there were alien creatures prior to Tyranids, so...

Their original design was dinosaur influenced. Hence the 2nd ed Tyranids having tails, the reptillian scales, those teeth and their general stance. Do I have to fish out the WD where they were released? Iirc it had an article about their design and Jes stating there was a strong dinosaur influence in the Tyranid range.
