This may be an American / British english thing, but I'm certain I've read "chuffed" in a negative context instead of the British's positive one.

Pat 2 already??? That was rather fast. HOpe they release a whole lot of new models for eldar. It's one of the range that need the most love. Plastic Aspect warriors and avatar wouldn't hurt.

Ah yes, when Americans use British slang.

The runes can be heavily stylised and have little variations. Curved or straight can be exactly the same thing.

Runes can be heavily stylised, but you won't see elements left off or altered that dramatically. Runes are part of the Eldar's language.

You and I couldn't understand each other if we started doing curves/straight as "exactly the same thing".

Fair point. I guess what I was originally thinking is it's close enough to the autarch rune that it presumably denotes something in a similar role. I doubt we can pull much from specific elements since they're used all over the place on runes for very different things. We could probably come up with an awful lot of different interpretations!

 Imateria wrote:
The same way everyone else does, via their Spirit Stone.

Path of the Eldar actually covers this quite well, Eldar bodies dont last forever and if an Exarch's been around for a long time the body can where out and die, if this happens the Exarch goes into a sort of hibernaton waiting for the next person to get trapped on that particular path and who will put on the armour. Whilst in hibernation, their Spirit Stones can be used to animate Wraith Lords.

Ah, right. I thought since the souls of wearers became part of the suit they couldn't be removed, and that's why they never joined the infinity circuit. The 2nd ed codex really hammered home that the suit was the exarch so the thought of the collective soul being removed from it seemed odd. The bit about the body wearing out and going into hibernation must be something Gav changed. Previously the suit would consume the body so it wearing out couldn't actually happen.

Wait, shouldn't the WD be next week? Im guessing we'll see the Eldar stuff and second book but we won't see the surprise release if indeed a Primarch returns in this next book, same way the LoC wasn't shown in the current WD.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

It's used for both pleased and displeased depending on who you're talking to but pleased is far more common. Chuffed and Chuff are also very useful catch-all expletives such as "chuffed off", "stick that up your chuff", "tighter than a duck's chuff", etc.

Back when the Iyanden supplement was released there was a slight difference between the spear on the cover of the actual book and the one on the cover shown in White Dwarf (June 2013).

Spoiler:
Book

WD

The symbol in the video has the infinity-8 on top but the thing is quite similiar to the symbol on top of the spear on the covers, especially the second one, probably a draft. My guess is the symbol in the video is for the same character.

Edit: Maybe Iyanna Arienal? She had rules in Codex: Eldar 3rd Edition

Gathering the Informations.

It's not the same symbol.

The symbol on top of that spear is the symbol for "Warlocks"(delta with pincers and an "eye" in the center).

Upper right corner.

It might be incorporating part of the Spiritseer rune, but I doubt it's specifically for Iyanna or any other seer as all seer runes contain an eye.

This idea needs to die in a fire. It's beyond me that people leap from Khan last seen pursuing DE into the webway and RUMORED to possibly be fighting tooth and nail in the arenas as entertainment, to somehow he has been given DE/CWE armor and tech and released to rejoin the imperium and apparently he is willing to parade around the same crew that watched him combat other imperial forces to the death in a piss soaked pit. So farfetched it hurts. Not to mention the model has zero aesthetic clues suggesting it's anything but eldar, beyond people somehow seeing that fog drenched image and the artwork and suggesting it's some sort of kong sized model. I must be drunk because I see a normal sized eldar positioned on rubble so you can see him.

But is used in other places. Far easier to just mash the keyboard AoS style (or do it like their mostly nonsensical paint range) and slap a trademark at the end of it.

Using does not = copyright.

Games workshop has Eldar copyrighted and if that doesn't blow your mind, they have Chaos copyrighted.
Bow down.

The Dark Eldar call themselves Eladrith Ynneas, which is the actual term Dark Eldar (this is from the Dark Eldar Codex). Ynneas clearly has some link with death or the darkness of death, so Eldar is Eladrith (or some conjugation thereof).

The rune I think has some link with Ynnead or Wraith construct technology. Why? The infinity symbol at the top has been used for anything related to Wraithguard, Wraithknights, or death. The rest of the rune as a whole though has resemblances to the Avatar symbol, with the size, tail, and pincer horns at the top of the triangle. The middle lines are not equal in length, and actually resembles elements of the Wraithguard rune. The pincers at the top could be similar to the Hemlock Wraithfighter element. All this plus putting the rune after the quote from Ahriman talking about the cycle of birth, life, death and the soul living again suggests either something with Ynnead, reincarnation, and/or Wraith construct technology.

You probably shouldn't be posting in such a snotty know it all fashion when you're incorrectly using the term copyright instead of trademark. You can't copyright a single word.

But thanks mate, hope that view is stunning from that high horse.

Correct, and he did use the term Ancient.
Could very well be referring to a name used before they were shattered.

This made me lol.

But, yeah... if anyone still thinks that Warhammer 40,000 isn't about to have the AoS bomb dropped on it, I'm not sure what further proof you'd need.

Also, I'm calling it now: The rune is the new rune for the Avatar of Ynnead. Eldrad tried to pre-maturely birth Ynnead in Death Masque. He failed. Now he's going to try it a different way with the help of 'rybody. /team high five

Back on the topic of Aeldari - has the background ever set out what the Eldar refer to themselves as?

Warhammer of course had Asur, Asrai and Druchii as societies, but I'm not currently aware of 40k having equivalents?
