From what I have heard, Ynnead still hasn't been born, merely an Avatar so far, but we'll find out for sure when Fracture of Biel-Tan come out.

Thank you Angelofvengance. I will keep my eye for it so I can read it.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Yeah it definitely seems to be just a shade almost and not the actual God of Death, especially since the avatar has a separate name from Yneead.

40K hasn't had "true" gods as playable models since the pre-5th ed Necron codex. In that book, the C'Tan were true incarnations of gods and not the mere "shards" in Pokeballs that they are now.

I really want to see a battle between all the "Avatar/Shards" of gods on the table-top. All 4 Greater Daemons vs the 3 variants of C'tan shards vs both Eldar Avatars.

I'm going to go out on a limb... a very shaky and weak limb and say that the Golden Hope is Lorgar coming back to the Imperiums side.

I'm sure this isn't what is going to happen, but what a great idea. Say the golden throne fails and the Emperor's soul is released into the warp, with the collective belief in him powering him into a new Chaos god, and Lorgar becomes a daemon prince of The Emperor. That would be quite a twist.

Speaking of which, how does one even become a daemon prince of chaos undivided?

Deathmasque awoke him, Facture got his attention and allowed him to find the proper location (the 40k universe) and his emissary (Yvraine).

Which is what I was implying when I said they could actually kill off Slaanesh and replace it with a new chaos god

There's a difference, though, isn't there?
An undivided Daemon Prince is a Prince who doesn't serve a specific god. They don't really receive any benefits

A Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided is a Prince who receives
benefits from all of the gods, making it stronger than usual

That would be good, but they stated that slaanesh and ynnead, both created by eldar, reflect their souls and such. Any god or spirit like creature will look similar to this as long as eldar make them.

Shouldn't it say conclusion? I thought the author of Gathering Storm said it was a trilogy or to some sorts like that. Is this White Dwarf getting things wrong again, did GW change their minds, or am I missing something?

Also at first glance, I thought it said, Unsubscribe White Dwarf.

he is mistaken, there are plenty off examples of undivided deamon princes, Lorgar has shown in the HH books that its a ritual to become a deamon prince, a very large one requiring great sacrifice, but a ritual none the less, so technically anything could become a deamon prince, given enough time and the right knowledge.

In shared white dwarf preview pictures on a website I won't name showed a little of the book. The eldar are desperately searching for allies. They list off all the factions including the tyranids as possible allies but reject them all and settle on the unreliable IoM. This was discussed some pages back. The Eldar dismissed the Tau as "too young" to help them save the universe from chaos. They didn't even consider Necrons or name them as a possible ally. The one exception to their discussions.

So unless the Tau get squatted and their entire line of models destroyed overnight I think there's a good chance the Tau are getting a book. It's almost impossible it's the next two books after fracture of Bieltan. It might not even take place concurrently or it might even be another book series with other factions. I can't say.

The Feb WD does go a bit more into detail than I expected. Not an eldar fan, really, but appreciate the epic story. But then again I like all the apocalyptic storylines in games and fiction series.

"So, who should we ask to be in our alliance?"

"The orks?"

*Grave nods of recognition from everyone*

"No, too crazy. Tyranids too."

*Mumbles of assent, all present knew too well the tyranids*

"Not even going to mention the necrons. So that leaves the Imperium, huh?"

"Sir, what about the Tau?"

"The who?"

"The Tau, they live here." *points at map* "No, maybe..maybe here... uh... can we zoom in this map?"

*Map zooms WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY in*

"This is the Tau empire."

"Well...no, they're obviously too small. Why have I heard that name before? Why does it feel like these guys are always showing up for some reason?"

"yeah, I don't know why I happened to mention them, and not the Xvgtghyelwehtl, who have an empire next door about the same size. Or the Yx, who have a slightly larger empire next to them. I guess for some reason we just seem to keep running into the Tau."

"Weird. So, the Imperium then, all in favor?"

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

That's sort of Yvraie and Eldrad's schtick. Theyre trying to cheat the system by birthing Ynnead without the need for every eldar to be dead. It remains open to see whether that's possible, if it is possible but due to their meddling he doesn't have the power to defeat slaanesh, whether birthing ynnead kills all the eldar anyway, or (most unlikely) it all goes exactly to plan.

The Ynnari are a radical sect of eldar. Sort of like those inquisitors that think if they kill the emperor he'll be reborn anew (while everyone else keeps telling them what a ludicrous idea it is and the implications if they're wrong).

Yeah i really like that too, but mainly because it makes me slightly suspicious. I don't quite buy the 'this is what all eldar psychic constructs look like'.

Khaine doesn't.

My eldar are deeply suspicious that this Avatar of Ynnead has been corrupted by Slaanesh somehow, and flat-out do not trust that it's doing anything better with their souls than Slaanesh (a few suspect demonstrations of resurrection aside).

Yeah i'm all for more minor races getting models and such in the 40k universe

The Tau might be small fry in terms of galactic level conflicts, but they can hold their own on a battlefield.

Why should all the stories revolve around the behemoths of the 40k universe? There's tons of available narrative in all the smaller areas of the galaxy.

I think the biggest issue with using the word "conclusion" would be that while The Gathering Storm is stated to be a trilogy, the Storm Itself need not conclude at the end of its Gathering.

I could see a trilogy of "The Eye of the Storm" books (the actual clash of the gathering titanic forces) and a trilogy of "The Storm's Wake" (the aftermath of that clash - this is the only place I could see the Tau being featured, in a "while the Imperium recovered, the Tau took advantage and expanded... right into an Ork Waaaagh/Tyranid Splinter Fleet/Space Marine Crusade" sort of way) that eventually covers all the existing armies/alliances, ending the trilogy of trilogies in a new status quo.

Just a guess, though.

This would be an amusing twist as the Emperor punished Lograr for worshiping him as a god, thus setting in motion the events that turn the Emperor into a god. As the Emperor ascends, he essentially admits Lograr was right, the Emperor needed to be worshiped as a god.
