Primarch's returning; okay. Imperium re-energised, okay. Cadia falling, okay. Beil-Tan fracturing, okay.

But, I just really can't get enthused about new Super Marines. My Marine army has been a labour of love over a lot of years. Hopefully all that endeavour isn't about be invalidated overnight...

Maybe wrong thread... Go Mortarion! Nothing to see here.

I was looking forward to Mortarion, but the other news has soured it a bit.

Apologies but is this Hastings fellow reliable? Haven't heard of him until now.

Anyway, assuming that it's true, I can barely wait to see what the new Mortarion looks like. Hopefully he's either not monopole or at least posed better than Gillyman was.

He's not a rumormonger, he's the rumourmonger, probably about the most venerable and consistent one we've got. Doesn't post as much these days as he was largely interested in WHFB and didn't take to AOS, but, yes, reliable.

Hasting is pretty much the god of rumourmonger. But I think he's not as much in the loop as he used to, or at the very least, he's a lot less interested about GW to do as much research as he used to. Still, if h'es saying something, you can pretty much take it as gospel

Horus Heresy in plastic, Genestealer Cults, Assassins, Deathwatch were all correctly rumored by him up to one and a half year before releases and before everyone else had rumored anything. He has excellent sources at GW. And Hastings used to show new models in the background of his Warseer painting blog photos months before release. His info is very hepful, like Sad Panda's for example.

Perhaps now people can grasp why some of us were apprehensive about moving from a setting to an ongoing "plot" in the first place - it was only ever going to be a way for GW to "write out" existing factions or write in new ones that put existing ones to such shame that few play them.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

I don't think so. That Scythe looks literally exact to the Forge World one that he has. I think it is a conversion.

Plus Magnus looks somewhat like his old Epic incarnation, which, like Angron and Fulgrim also, has a look which is pretty well established in fluff.

Mortarion is portrayed as a grim reaper style figure, and while that may be something less derivative when realised in 40K scale, those images don't match that aesthetic at all.

I will build so many Plague Marines if they release a kit half as good as Blight Kings. Those made a great base already. And pretty "true" scale, so bigger ones would probably fit right in
And some form of zoooombie, be it zombie plague or AOS or whatever.

I agree that he looks like a conversion, but the background info what these photos may have been used for made me change my mind.

While, looking at the way the wind is blowing, I can't see myself being involved in the game at all by the time he's released, if he looks like that, I'll be pleased that the model is out there.

I'd still say that image looks more grim reaper than the "converted blight king with stumpy wings" that I get from those images though.

I was going to respond to this with the usual bit about how getting upset is pointless, but then I realized who wrote it. I see that you continue to try very hard at being unhappy. Hopefully others can learn from it, at least.

I hope it will be more armor and less grim reaper than the Epic version, but Mortarion is also a demon primarch right? Of the chaos primarchs only Konrad and Alpharius weren't demon Primarchs as far as i remember

Should be seeing a grudge match between Draigo and Mortarion then, eh? I imagine he's still butthurt from their last confrontation lol.

That's not an unreasonable assumption but couldn't it also be possible that they wanted it to look like the same scythe as it's Mortarions weapon of choice, used since the Great Crusade.

I hope it's real, but then I would also like it to not be and this be a conversion and the actual GW release, if there is one, to be more like his Epic counterpart as I love that mini

Please no. The writing quality drops like a stone basically any time Draigo becomes involved in the plot.

A new Calas Typhon model for 40K would be sweeet.

I dunno, the Mortarion vs Draigo story was pretty good.

To be fair that was Black libary flushing out a story that originally read like bad fan fiction.

Hmm. In Rise of the Primarch besides Magnus and Fulgrim, Mortarion is the only other Primarch mentioned when reacting to the news of Roboute's return. He would like nothing more to hunt down Roboute but he seemed to have some things cooking that diverted his attention.

A GW Employee I know who has been right about a couple rumors (Like Robby G) has said that Mortarion would be the next D Primarch.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.
