This means that if you take maximum three squads of sisters and three dedicated Rhinos for them, their anti-psychic range increases to 27" when all the units are on the battlefield. I personally think this detachment is the real winner of this release.

Edit : So this is what "getting Ninja'd" mean. Please refer to the reply right above mine.

Would it work that way with the Rhinos? The way I am reading that detachment, the only units that would qualify towards the extension of the anti-psy would be the three SoS squads since three Elite slots are all that are called for by the detachment. Would dedicated transports be a part of extending that range? I'm not so sure, even if I would very much want t to be the case.

Please don't tell me that this mini-codex is limited to units and weapons options only in that box. Please tell me Custodes have access to the Land Raider Crusader.

Given the page has been posted and you can see they are limited... ;-)

Oooohhh psychic abonimation rhinos for only 45pts!? Yes please! This actually solves the SoS delivery problem quite well.

110pts for a greatsword squad with a rhino that can shut down whole parts of the board is amazing!

Crusaders and redemptory are relatively new land raider configs, why would they be venerable? To be fair though, the Mk.III land raider shouldn't be venerable either though. The custodes should be rocking mk.I's or mk.II's (in my opinion).

After I bought the Custodian Guard Squad in Burning of Prospero set, I mixed the squad weapons so that two members have sentinel blade & storm shield and the rest with halberds. However, I'm afraid the official description for Custodian Guard suggests that a single unit cannot mix their weapons, i.e. take either sentinel blade & storm shield or halberds.

"The kit can be used to build 1 of 2 different squads: one armed with guardian spears, the other armed with sentinel blades and storm shields."

If you think that's bad, I assembled some of my guys with just the sword for the extra attack.

The printed rules from the previous page say you can mix and match in the squads for custodes

Sorry, couldn't quite make that out. I was initially looking at that on a 4-inch wide screen. Got a little pixelated when I zoomed in.

On a side note, I am a bit bummed the Land Raider doesn't have an option for a pintel mounted multimelta. That would have made it a pretty good tank hunter for these guys, and they need it.

Fifteen year old.

But it is painted gold.

Actually its almost 17 years, the current kit was released in May 2000!

Of course! Dedicated transports are still very much a 'unit from this formation on the battlefield', even if they don't take up a slot. The rhinos even have the psychic abomination rule themselves. So you're looking at a 12" null zone from the rhino while the sisters are inside, and when they jump out a 15" null zone from both them and the rhino. That's an enormous psychic shutdown area for only 120pts!

I wish there was a Custodes HQ you could take. I know you could potentially use Cawl, Celestine, Greyfax, or that GK guy, but it's just not the same. Here's to hoping there's a rules update with a proper codex in the near future, FW let's us use their Tribune rules, there's a White Dwarf update/add-on, or an HQ Custodes in the next Imperial Triumvirate.

The rule very clearly says "For each unit on the battlefield after the first from this detachment"

Dedicated Transports are treated as separate units for kill points, blessings, and all other rules purposes. The caveat is that since the FAQ, units are not considered to be on the battlefield if they're in their transport. So if you had 3 units of sisters IN rhinos, you would count as having 3 units on the battlefield for 18" Abomination range.

However, if you deployed them all out of their transport, you'd count as having 6 units from the detachment on the battlefield for +15" range, a total of 27".

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Well, it says "locked away". They might decide one day to "unlock" it. May be never may be next year, who knows.

Back in 5th edition I made a land raider for my sisters of battle (they could take them back then, but theirs was the only land raider iteration that was not an assault vehicle) and lovingly wrapped up every one of its flat surfaces with carved up pieces of the Sanctorum Imperialis terrain kit. Turned it into a big mobile church.

It was also, unfortunately, the first land raider model I had ever built, and I was unaware of some of the... interesting nuances of the land raider kit. Long story short, while I was trying to push the two sides together I slipped and ended up driving those lovely pointy steeples into my arm.

That model is sanctified by blood.

Love the Sisters rules. My poor Culexus Assassin has been shelved since he lost his Drop Pod, and now I fear he may never see a table aside from pre planned Magnus fights.

But, im not a fan of the bare heads and top knots. Definitely gotta look into a head swap.

Null Maiden Task Force has also received new benefits like Custodians'.
The biggest bonus is that you can add 3" to the range of Psychic Abomination for every unit on the battlefield after the first.

Locks can be broken, or unlocked. Prior to The Beast Arises it was assumed the sisters of silence were all dead or lost during the siege of terra.......

Either way I'm glad to see both forces getting a slightly more official entry into 40k, though I find it odd that between 30k and 40k the Custodes lost the ability to hold a weapon and a standard (30k they can go sword/standard) , 40k standard and shield).

It's better to have a shield and standard. The only difference is a 3+ invulnerable or a small shooting attack. For everything the standard does I'd want to protect it as much as I can.

No 3++ with Spear. You want that sweet invulnerable? You need Swords. Also, if you wanna move and shoot, though that's not such a big deal with Custodes.

I wonder how much it costs to upgrade to the Kheres assault cannon on the Contemptor. It looks like the only time the multi-melta might matter is if you shoot at armor 14 under 12 inches.

They still get a 5++, which is better than a kick in the rear. With the added 5++, the Sentinel Blade without a shield is actually a decent option as well. 4 Str 5 AP3 attacks per Guard (5 on the charge and 6 with a Vexilla) isn't terrible.
