Given that old Necromunda rulebook used quite large font and had a lot more in-between-text artwork than modern releases, such thick rulebook might in fact mean, that the whole campaign system is also "ported" to this game. Especially with those "faction cards" being separate.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

It looks about the size of the Underhive rulebook (which was just the Rulebook and Sourcebook put into one cover... including all the original mistakes!).

It definitely has the campaign system in there considering those roster sheets are the same ones from Necromunda, with space to note down gear, stats, experience, loot, gang rating etc.

And wasn't one person here already doom&glooming it has thin rulebook so campaign system is just bare bones

Doesn't look that thin to me! Should easily fit the original campaign rules.

I think I see enough stat boxes to include.....movement.... (may have miscounted, check for yourselves!)

We have seen the profiles with M in them.

There does seem to be an extra column compared to the old's rosters though (not a stat, the box before the profile)

Edit: and some tick box at the end?

To me it seems obvious considering what we've seen and heard so far that this is a wholesale port of Necromunda, with the same basic rules, campaign system, etc, just with kill teams instead of gangs. The question now is how much of the content is new. Equipment, skills, territories, treacherous conditions etc. Hopefully it just uses the skeleton of the system and the content is new. That would be wonderful.

There have to be SOME changes as 40K has no Juves (Neophyte Hybrid Initiates might be some indication how they handle "fresh recruits" in Shadow War, but they may just be Cults thing...)

I can't see the boxes for xp advancement :/

If memory serves, XP gained would go in the second box from the left. So it'd be Name - XP - Stats - Equipment?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just saw the other pics....I spy an Ogryn card.

Maybe my Rogue Trader can take the field, with his Seneschal Gronk, the Ogryn (who is normally reserved for tedious negotiations for people lucky to be allowed to join my fleet, when I can't be bothered)

No, XP was the far right (inset trump joke of your choice) column, with costs to its left.

The difference is no territories/stash sections and the extra column between name and the profile

From the other pic, that looks more like a pad than the back of a book - so it could be double sided, and that's where your turf ends up?

It wouldn't surprise me if territories were gone. It's not a great system anyway and it doesn't really fit the theme

I wonder if they'll sell the rulebook separately? I've no interest in the terrain (no space to put it) or the orks/scouts, but I'd love to just pick up a box of something I normally wouldn't consider (dark eldar or Tau maybe) and get involved.

I think we should unofficially officially change the name of this game to Notcromunda.

I prefer my Schrödinger War, but Notcromunda is also fine

I think the main question is do GW have a mountain of sm scouts to offload?

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Personally, like a lot of others, I see this as a test for a new Necromunda style game. What I think may happen is if it's popular enough, we'll see a supplement a la Blood Bowl with the original gangs in that with the releases coming from Forge World.

i'm certain there will be plenty on ebay as people buy it for the terrain and sell off the rules (and the scouts/boyz)

Liking the look of the rules shown so far, anything resembling 2nd edition is good in my book.

I'm still sad the gangs of old won't be getting new models but if that is something for the future then great.

Wonder how far the equipment/campaign upgrades will be able to go? If I can take a space marine scout squad and then get them addicted to 'Slaught' which gets them corrupted and turn to Slaanesh that would be fantastic.

Wondering about hired guns? As that would be a cool feature.

Well, I'm pleasantly surprised with the peeks so far. (Mainly the use of a Movement value and the thickness of the rulebook). As I've said in my posts I would love GW to prove me wrong about this being a thin-skinned intro-game reboot of a great game.

I also will laugh my ass off if it's borderline 2nd ed. rules and people start clamoring how much they like them...

Weli 2nd ed rules are best rules with name warhammer in it so no surprise.

If only designers had been allowed to do 3rd ed as originally planned...

Really liking where this is going. I do hope that store also gets an organised play pack, and if not, I'll pay for it myself and have him order one anyway.

Or that people who are advocates of 'to hit' and 'rend' modifiers as "streamlining fixes" to 7th ed actually get to know how much in-game calculation this aproach actually requires And I suspect a lot of endless debates about model facing being a factor and how exactly should it be measured

Jokes aside, return of 2nd ed rules in their full glory is a moment worth witnessing

They work so well for skirmish they'd be silly not to use them.

Calculation? Simple ones you can count in fraction of second. Of course most of the time don't even need to

If gw was clever enough they could make a single 10 man boxset for penal legions for the guard codex and have enough bits to design your own necromunda gangs.

However I play orks, steel legion/dkok and collect a ton of gw terrain and this boxset is made for me. The scouts will collect dust in my small space marine pile that I may use someday.

The real question is does anyone know of a good 6x4 mat that closely resembles the gw realm of battle city board or a really good city mat. I find realm of battle cumbersome to travel with and need a mat.

2nd edition rules were very solid, just over-shadowed by ridiculous things like overpowered over-wargeared heroes dominating (Chief Librarian in terminator armour with combat drugs, force sword, thunder hammer and displacer field), the damned virus grenade and the army list percentage structure being abused.

These guys seem to have good mats.

So is it too soon to hope for a Mordheim reboot as well?
