I may have missed this in the thread but has there been any mention of a pdf version or standalone release of the rules?

I like the idea of getting the set but that price tag does not go well with being a student

That's exactly what i want to know - really want to get involved, bought a Tau Pathfinder squad specifically for it the other day, but i don't want the terrain or the two squads in the box, just the rules. I know I can probably pick them up on eBay, but GW could easily make £25 out of me if they just sell the rules separately as well.

They might even just put them up on the site

With Stormcloud Assault, the rules are included in the free app. With Blood Bowl, the rules are paid-for additional content (that costs less than buying the boxed game). I could see either option for S:A, and/or a PDF download or an ebook from Warhammer Digital.

The app isn't free for Stormcloud Assault, you have to pay for it.

New White Dwarf has rules for Genestealer Cults and Skitarii Ranger Kill teams. They include rules and stats for "special operatives". Techpriest Engineseer, Sicarian Ruststalker and Sicarian Infiltrator for Skitarrii. Acolyte Hybrid, Hybrid Metamorph and Purestrain Genestealer for cults.

The battle report is cool and basically seems to confirm that this is 2nd edition Necromunda rules, right down to d3 for sustained fire dice, ammo rules and all. The rules include tables indicating skill types available, seems very similar to Necromunda (combat, ferocity, guerilla, agility, muscle, shooting and stealth). Not sure I remember guerilla though! There are price lists for different types of "ganger" and weapons but the operatives are not priced and there is no indication of how you would get them, will be in the main rules no doubt.

Thanks for the info! Seems odd that basic Acolyte Hybrids would be specialists though. Genestealers, sure, but Acolytes seem like they should be part of a core gang with the Neophytes.

Still, I'm super excited for this. If they have Inquisitorial retinue and an Inquisitor as a "special operative" we'll have official Inquisimunda rules for all intents and purposes.

This and new Death Guard are like both my biggest wishes from GW and both so close together, I'm going to be the happiest broke man alive.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

This is a bit amazing really - after Genestealer Cults Codex came out I thought about using Neophyte Hybrids and Skitrarii models and Ash Wastes Necromunda rules to represent fights on Mars-like wastelands. I even bought some supplies to make suitable industrial terrain to accompany my rocky board, but I never found time to make that idea happen. And then, right on my birthday (really) BAM! first presentation of Shadow Wars came out and every later leak just confirms further, that I got my perfect birthday present from GW

Sounds excellent. Difficult to believe this is the same company as two years ago or whenever it was they started to change.

I sure the board I end up playing on will involve a few more pringles tubes and MDF ladders, but I have a goal now.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

There was no guerilla skill type, instead there was "techno" type which seem to be absent in Shadow Wars if your list is complete.

Have to admit the giant oil rig is a cool concept, though I count at least 20 full kits in that build, so probably more then 2000 pounds?

At first I was indifferent to the Armageddon setting, buts its starting to tug nostalgia strings, both for the 2nd Ed boxset and the 3rd war stuff.

There is actually a lot of good info for Helsreach hive, including a map of the underhive, there's some good info here:

I'm wondering what the max points value will be?

Can I field all 25 of my scouts?

Nothing mentioned about ideal playing area as far as I can see. Always found roughly 4 x 4 worked well for Necromunda but different table sizes give games with different feels so would be worth changing it up from time to time.

Can see this building a lot of interest and leading to a bit of a Necromunda revival as well, because I can't see much reason you couldn't just play with a gang instead of a troop box.

Well, while the points values would be different, etc...if the rules are "as close to 2nd" as they seem - there's nothing actually stopping you from playing using the old 2nd ed. codices (and thus you have points/equipment costs for everything).

That, or bash up some rules of your own. This "shouldn't be a hugely competitive kind of game.

Hopefully if they're not part of the of the original release, they'll get rules eventually.
Maybe if it sells really well Forgeworld might make a few kill teams or at least rules for some of their IG units. I mean they make some AoS and bloodbowl stuff.

The rule book is supposed to contain Imperial Guard, Space Marines (Scouts only?) and Orks.
I wonder if there would be skill variants like the original gangs in Necromunda, representing various subgroups. That would be cool.

Why yes they are.

The word I got for this is that ANY models you can bring to the table can go to war.

This would be the thing that determines whether I play Shadow War or just stick with killteam (granted, even killteam needs some house ruling to even make an inquisitional retinue even playable, so it's a wash either way).

I am already cranking out a load of Ork terrain to get in on this one. Going to have to say it- GW has turned over a new sprue and are well back to getting some money from me, again.

I am really excited about the starter for that space marine scouts/ orks thing. I have use for both teams, and can add more to both on Day 1.
Does anyone know, yet on what exactly the sets include, and each one of the portions? I see some sort of generator, a few walkways, but is there a list of what is coming in that base set?
120.00 is a lot of cheddar, and I am just trying to figure if I should start prepaying for one of the sets, or wait till they come out.

Its a skirmish level 40K game. on par with Necromunda. the game store owner said that there was a pretty good conversation going on upc oming product, and that there was going to be a way for you to use any models you want to put a team together, and shoot it out on the table.

Judging from the trailer it should be flexible enough to stack and / or keep low. The promethium pipes should also attach nicely to some of the other parts of the kit.

From the looks of the images (despite what the White Dwarf says), the walkways are actually the Galvanic Magnavent kit. Which means the boxed set has the Furnace, Stacks, and Magnavent. Not a bad deal. I am definitely getting one.
