New kits from the boxed set are out. Local store has the Alchomite Stack and the Ferratonic Furnace around 50 bucks for the two, and 75 for the Galvanic Magnavent.

So far, the additional generator terrain and shipping containers are available as well, along with the hyperinflationary Void Generator.

The kits look absolutely stunning, and you can see why they short changed the boxed sets. $$$$$$

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

People on eBay are paying stupid prices for sprues and remaining SWA boxes. You'd think that having these sets on the market would help mitigate that silliness.

Have they mentioned how long it will take to get a copy of the rule book once the pre orders go up ?

No one I know managed to get a copy and I would like to start playing sooner rather than later.

Did they say they're doing an ebook or only print? I can see the first run of the hard copy selling out fast.

Actually looking at the Shadow War kits that are on eBay.. I am half tempted to buy another kit from a UK selling.. as they seem to be going cheaper than AU retail.. even with postage

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Well I hope they print more than seven of the bloody things, plenty of folk aren't going to be able to order stuff until next week and the technical existence of some physical copies isn't going to matter much if they sell out in ten minutes tomorrow morning.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

They talked about it being a longer (7-week?) pre-order for the hard copy books, which suggests a print on demand release to me. So I would suggest that anyone thinking of buying it makes an order as soon as possible because a) it might not stick around unless b) enough people show continued interest and they decide it's worthwhile supporting as a core product.

Do we know if the new hardback rulebook will be available from the usual FLGSs and online discounters, or only direct from GW?

They already stated they were leaving the preorder up for several weeks to allow everyone to get their orders in. Anyone who wants the book should be able to get a copy.

Wow, thanks everyone for posting all the awesome roster sheets! Can a mod maybe link them all in the OP or make a post in the Specialist group with the links?

Well, the local FLGS still has SWA in stock at $124 Canadian ($92US, £72).
I bought another... #3

Still pounding away on getting the modular terrain squares done.
I was thinking: is it better to gravel up the hardboard base and glue various stuff down for detail or maybe router/scribe various "seams" into the surface of the hardboard tile?
Too late for the one tile I screwed down but the rest this is doable.

So I have a few kill teams I can make:

- AM/IG Cadians I have plenty of stuff for them.
- SM scouts thanks to the kits nevermind my own stock. Have some deathwatch for a special character.
- Grey knights.. yep (plastic and metal kits).

- Orks, cheerful and plentiful those guys, thanks to kits, a mini army unto themselves. Got a doc, tech and runt-herder.
- Chaos, my very first army. These could be fun.
- Tau, got one pathfinder box and that pretty much is all you need.

What should I get next: Harlequins, Tyranid Warriors or Genestealer cult?
I am tempted with the Cult guys since they have many options, are colourful and fit in the fluff a bit.

So yeah, looking forward to this.

Got "Sector Imperialis 25 & 40mm Round Bases" and "Sector Imperialis 32mm Round Bases" and will use those for "special" models, darn expensive fancy bases.
Will use "Evergreen, 1/2" x 1/2" Sidewalk sheet" to cover the tops of normal bases for troopers (it matches the squares on the walkways. ($6.49 for 6"x12" sheets).

SWA certainly got me buying stuff I would have NEVER bought otherwise or possible put together and field.
Oh, all the painting that lies ahead... this could hurt.

The cult are awesome, great models and fluff wise can be in all sorts of places without being that big time fluff enemy like Tyranids. I love the insidious nature and that theyre very secretive, perfect for smaller scale stuff, street level fighting and so on. Theyre also retty compatible with Imperial stuff and have a great vibe whilst also really fitting into the setting of the Sector Mechanicus terrain

I'm not going to re-read the lunacy that is the last few pages of this thread, but I'd be very surprised if anyone actually said that. Even that one guy banging on about how relatively difficult it might be for an Inquisitor to acquire power armour, I don't think even that guy said that.

Starting the game in hiding is filthy as well. Normally it is restricted to a single mission, but for them to always start in hiding.. filthy!

That's a sweet sheet, my favorite so far I think. Can you make a version of that that's Rules As Written (15 games, no stashing points)? And just aesthetically the first entry would be your leader always right, so no 3-game marker?

Awesome!!

The Shadow War: Armageddon rulebook is a 200-page softback, featuring new rules and some features previously only available online:

- a short history of the brutal conflicts that have wracked the hive world of Armageddon since the notorious Warboss Ghazghkull Thraka decided to invade, in order to declare himself the true prophet of the Ork gods – and deliver a crushing blow to humanity;
- the Warriors of Armageddon: an overview of the main forces fighting over the hive world – Space Marines Scouts, Astra Militarum Veteran Squads and Ork Boyz Mobs – how they fight, why they fight and the wargear they employ;
- rules and background for 12 further factions not previously found in the boxed game’s rulebook: Skitarii, Craftworld Eldar, Dark Eldar Wych Cults, Genestealer Cults Hybrids, Grey Knights, Harlequin Troupes, Necrons, Tau Pathfinders, Tyranids, Chaos Space Marines, Adeptas Sororitas Battle Sisters and Inquisitors of the Ordos Xenos – the last two factions’ rules have been previously unavailable anywhere else;
- Core Rules: as you might expect, this is the set of rules you need to learn in order to play Shadow War: Armageddon. It covers the items you need in order to play and the characteristics of each fighter type, along with a breakdown of a game turn – this will teach you movement, shooting, hand-to-hand combat and recovering from injuries, along with an explanation of the mechanics behind using terrain;

Ho-hum:

Adeptas Sororitas Battle Sisters and Inquisitors of the Ordos Xenos

Ordo Xenos eh? Interesting!
