In previous editions, you could use them with inquisitorial acolytes and IG veterans in carpace armor with shotguns. When I looked in the Index books, the stormshield/power weapon acolytes are still possible for those models but no shotguns. For the IG, the vets can still take shotguns but lost carapace armor options and the tempetus (sp?) scion rules don't support the shotguns either. I haven't followed up with the codex books though so maybe they added those back in but I'd doubt it since they don't make a model themselves.

Any news on when the big ork is expected to ship?

Dispatching it already, but there was a lot of preorders, so it will take some time.

Yissssss good news, thanks Artel! I don't normally buy 3rd party models for my Eldar, but to be honest, that design is just so damn good that my rule has to go out the window immediately.

I'm working on an Arbites force now, going with DKK rules since they have unites 4+ saves and shotguns. Not perfect but what in life is?

You had me excited. I went and grabbed my Index: Forces of the Astra Militarum book... and... I can't find a way to give shotguns to the DKK. Death Korps Infantry squad has a 5+ save, no shotguns. The DK Grenadier Storm Squad has 4+ saves, but still no shotguns. Are you looking in the most up to date book? Or, I'm missing something? DKK does mean Death Korps of Krieg?

Not to hijack their thread but if you want to use their arbites there's 2 Death Korps units that fit:

Storm Grendiers - 4+ saves and hotshot lasers (repped by bolters) count as troops. They can take 2 special weapons including a heavy stubber.

Combat Engineers - 4+ saves, shot guns and acid bombs, elites.

I'm guessing that's in large part to the half hearted and typo filled efforts FW did in supporting/converting everything to 8th edition... but, hey, if it helps you as a player then I'm all for it (no sarcasm intended). My guess is though that the support will probably stop as soon as FW puts out a proper DKoK book. Are the rules available legally for free via pdf? Or was it in a physical book?

Thanks. I saw it mentioned after posting but wasn't able to sneak away to edit it until now. I'm glad that there is a counts-as way to use them and iirc DKoK traditionally have improved morale rules that suit Arbites well thematically too.

There's an ebook too, saves about $5 plus whatever shipping costs.

Anyway point being YES, there is an IG unit that has 4+ and shotguns (shotguns that wound on 2+ BTW) and acid bombs that also wound on 2+.

And of course there are Marine scouts and Crusaders which pretty much covers the limited AA arsenal.

For Necro there's Van Saar and Venator gangs both of which can be made to work.

So feel free to take them.

Those Scout concepts look amazing. Reminiscent of the Tempestus Scions with the heavy armor and tactical gear. Very nice. Can I suggest having an over-the-shoulder lamp mounted on to their armor as well?

To each their own. I would prefer without the over the shoulder light. The first set of heads have NODs. A light would hurt their ability to see. Besides, these also look like scouts. With bare eyes you can see better in the dark than with a light (once your eyes adjust), and a light gives away your position to the enemy. So... light over the shoulder doesn't make sense to me.

Assuming the lamp is in the visible spectrum, and is not a UV or infrared lamp keyed to the goggles.

Rule of cool. It doesn't need to make sense (like why do Scouts have rebreathers attached to their armor, but none of them are ever shown using them) why they'd have shoulder lamps in conjunction with NODs. They wouldn't need to be permanent pieces either, just an attachable gubbin.

I realize arguing logic with any science-fiction setting is silly. However, emitting in any spectrum still has a chance of giving away your position. Better with just the NODs. But, I do love me some options, more are always better. An optional bit, you know for those that like being shot at, is always a good addition to the bits box, just never know when it'll come in handy.
