Death Guard will be in the starter, so the releases in May will be 1 week of Sky Pirate dwarves, 1 week of Sector Mechanicus terrain (including a bundle of everything in Shadow War) and two weeks of something else.

I wouldn't bet against some filler releases, or even a week of Blood Bowl. 8th ed is in June and already people are getting incredibly excited

I think those loyalists are Crimson Fists, so i am thinking a crimson fist vs death guard starter?

Seems alright to me.

I was sure that axe reminded me of something.

That fella who converted a Lord of Skulls into a Nurgle one and gave it a giant axe with the 3 buzz-saws in it. BAD.ASS!

There's a lot pointing to the potential of them being Ultramarines, the nu-Marines for one and some recent fluff for another. I'd love it if they were CFists though!

And that wonderful model was made by Mörback / Maxime Pastourel, who is also a Miniature Designer/Sculptor at Games Workshop. A lot of the new death guard stuff is looking very reminiscent of his amazing Plaguebones army and I would not be surprised is not a coincidence!

Am I the only person who hates the axes with the weird spinning spikes/saws in the middle?

I love the look of Nurgle - I think it will be a great starter box (I hope Typhus gets the starter treatment like Ahrimahn) - but that style axe just bothers me for some reason. I don't think I used it for any orks. Not even one of the 30+ nobs I have made.

They were just a daemon engine introduced in Vraks.

Those Heresy Era Mechanicum Drones look very similar so presumably they are based on that.

Nope. To me Death Guard were always a simple tool, no grinding gears, just simple walk over and punch/stab/infect the enemy and continue on. Moving parts are just one more thing to break down.

No "presumably" about it.

When they first showcased the Vultarax, they literally called it the machine that the Blight Drones were based off of.

A lot of the -"rax" stuff(Ursurax, Scyllax, Vorax, Thallax) seem to be particularly vicious constructs that were being phased out at the time of the Heresy and showed up in traitor Mechanicum forces but not Loyalist stuff.

Well, FW was said to be launching rules for their models along with the launch of the game - so I doubt we're getting new fancy models for those blight drone things.

I also really don't think the "loyalist" side of the picture is Crimson Fists...at all. They're much darker blue. Yet it also doesn't look anything like an Ultramarine unless the artist just fudged it up a bit.

And his 4 Generals (or whatever non-German WD calls it) teased we'd soon see his first sculpts for GW.

He also has a kickass Skaven army, doesn't he? And Skyre is supposed to come out this year. Having him on armies he did great conversions for seems like a good thing.

Spoiler:
I don't like the buzzsaw axe, either, but I have enough copies of Gutrot's axe and all sort of Khorne ones, thankfully. It works on the Centaurion, but not on the termi.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

I like that axe, but that looks more like concept art to me.

Damn GW, I feel like I have to pick up some Blight Drones now (don't currently own any )

DG will be released when 8th Ed is released. This isn't the 8th Ed issue.

They haven't kept anything a secret, they have released trailers for the release, they have a faction mention on the warhammer40000.com website, and Death Guard is half of the logo for 8th edition. It is just this White Dwarf has nothing to do with 8th.

Probably mid-June, when 8th is suspected to drop.

8th could still be late May. White dwarf only covers the first half of the month these days. We have the big ship and scenery on 29th, then the left over Kharadron stuff on the 6th, so the 13th and 20th preorders are still a mystery.
