Big Trouble in Little China has a boardgame coming out?
Big Trouble in Little China the Game sends you and up to five other players on a wild adventure to experience the unknown and mystical underworld of Chinatown. Each brave character uses their own unique talents and abilities to take on various missions throughout Little China; working together to gain enough Audacity to take down Lo Pan, the Three Storms, and a slew of other powerful henchmen, in this cooperative, replayable, cinematic experience.
You will venture through the iconic locations in Chinatown saving the helpless and thwarting evil plans, all the while discovering weapons and rare magics to use to your benefit. Player actions are powered by thematic dice that are rolled each round. These dice will be used to take part in combat, gamble for riches, and get players in and out of “Big Trouble." But beware: roll bad luck and suffer the consequences!

Renders look accurate to the movie characters, but aside from the 35+ age group will anyone give a damn about this 80's movie setting?
Seems like a limited audience to me.

The thread title reads "Big Trouble in Little China game by" JohnHwangDD on the subforum page. Thanks for the info. I'm curious about how it'll look in the end as a fan of the movie but I'm gunshy about paying for anything in advance after Robotech (whether preorder or crowdfunding)

People 35+ have money, so it's not a bad demo.
Also, fixed the title.
I'm not opposed to preordering from companies that actually deliver (i.e. CMoN & KD). I don't know these guys, though.

Very true!
Still, not sure too many younger players will care. Plus, with the likeness rights for the actors and all the other productions costs associated with a game based off a movie, I just wonder if it is worth it.
Time will tell!

The real question is when we are going to see the Buckaroo Banzai crossover team....
If this game is in fact for real, we could really get some mileage out of some different crossover teams and settings. THEN there is the idea of Sequel cover packs.
Prince of Darkness expansion, Thing expansion, They Live expansion.......

Know several people who are huge fans of John Carpenter's 80's movies and weren't born when they were released. The Thing and They Live still remain popular and Little Trouble has joined the library of "must watch" geek films.

So, yeah, there's hobby market game presence of the movie franchise, although it's part of an existing game line.
If anyone knows more about the game company, game designer, and how the game plays, by all means post it. I have a friend who'd be interested, but I don't want him buying a game he wouldn't like.

Sure. This movie has attained cult status so I understand there are fans, even some who didn't see the film in theaters. Its a fun movie. A bit dated and a bit racist by contemporary standards, but it is still a fun movie. I watch it every few years and enjoy it.
Still, when the Harry Potter minis game was announced some wondered if the "boat had been missed" in terms of riding the popularity of the movie franchise that is now a few years old. Big Trouble in Little China is 31 years old. I just wondered if a game based off a movie that old would have any real appeal aside from nostalgic older fans. There seems to be interest, so cool!

Well, the interest in a good movie tend to be ciclic.
You have the initial hype and interest, then it fades away, and when it reach the "Movie of cult" point the interest grow again, maybe not at his original level but...
