I may have visited one in 1994, but couldn't say for certain.

It's mostly a burger and fries place. Think Burger King, but IMO just a bit better.

That's fair. Wendy's Baconnator is a step above a BK burger, and even McD's in my book. McD's still has the best fries (IMHO). BK's original chicken sandwhich is my go-to if I need to get fast food.

It's pretty crappy mexican-like fast food. But sometimes you just crave crappy fast food.

It's the only thing I miss about living in the US.

taco bell may be considered bad by some, but everyone should agree it's way better than del taco.

give it a try, everyone has different tastes and you might actually like it.

Although I enjoy Taco Bell, this statement is absolutely true. TB is ...

Taco Cabana FTW!!

YES!!!! For those in the know, Taco Cabana absolutely rules the ultra fast food Mexican arena, IMHO.

NO, they indistinguishably suck balls. There are multiple fast food Mexican joints that are just fine, and some that are award winning (again Torchies Tacos). TB and DT are a trip through hell taken by people who haven't had the blessing of eating real Mexican food.

EDIT: I have only had Taco Cabana once but I will second that it is decent, at least when I had it. Full disclosure: all of my girlfriends before SWMBO were of Mexican or Latin American heritage/nationality so I may be biased.

Frazz, they are definitely distinguishable. If Taco Bell is a trip through hell, it's the kind where you are denied God's presence for all eternity ("there is no God" being a frequent refrain in the hours after eating Taco Bell), whereas Del Taco is the kind of hell Clive Barker and Event Horizon warned us about. If you can't distinguish them, then go order a meal at Del Taco; they have such delectable agonies to share with you.

You maybe right. They don't really have Taco Bell in Central and Gulf Coast Texas.

Question, are there really Taco Bells in the U.K.? And do they sell Burritos?

I remember when Wendy's was in the UK. Their stuff wiped the floor with Micky Ds and Burger Kings. I'm so sad it's gone from here now.

Five Guys is the best burger joint I've found in the U.K. Bit pricey compared to competitors. But superior value.

On moon miranda.

Five Guys, if it is the same franchise we have here in the US with gratuitous peanuts and all, is pretty awesome.

The reason it's so good is because the ground beef they use is something ridiculous like 60% fat, or so I've heard.

Sweet Jesus yes, Five Guys. Bacon Cheeseburger with Cajun fries made to order and with a cherry coke. I don't care if does cost almost £15, it's worth it.

Yes, Five Guys is the best .. that pinch you get in your chest when you eat there is normal, it's just your burger giving your heart a little hug.

I don't know how widespread they are, but I'm a fan of Fuji's Famous Burgers. The avocado teriyaki burger is pretty common, but theirs' is the best.

As far as fast food goes, I'm becoming partial to Tropical Smoothie. It's a bit pricey, but delicious and you can get stuff that's halfway-healthy there.

I have Cajun relatives. Thats some yankee store crap. Cajuns don't actually have fries. Everything is with rice.

so what are these Cajun fries?

Cajun fries = fries with generic "cajun" seasoning sprinkled on top. We also have old bay fries up here, those are fries with old bay seasoning on them.

That's how much imagination us yankees have

Oh, I thought they had Old Bay all over.. it's this stuff

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Bay_Seasoning

It's usually for crabs and seafood, but it's great on fries too But yeah it's mostly salt & paprika mixed with some other stuff

Us Low Country types know Old Bay. It is the spice in a Low Country Boil.

Yep, take it from a Maryland native. Old Bay is the King of Spices.

If you're unenlightened and don't eat crabs, try it on shrimp...perfection.

Old Bay is good stuff for seafood boils. Joe's Crab Shack uses it IIRC. I prefer Zatarain's, though.

"Cajun" seasoning is a faux spicy spice dusting/style that has been floating around a while. Most of the Cajun potatoes I have seen in from actual Cajuns are mashed, boiled, or fried and salted. "Cajun" seasoning is usually just a generic stand in like "Italian" or "Mexican" seasoning. I have never tried 5 Guys, so I don't know if they are any good.

I can't believe this has got to 3 pages! Brilliant! We have pretty much stopped fast food in our house, apart form the occasional Friday night cod supper, or the very odd Chinese. In the U.K. We have loads of independent ' chip shops ' which if your after some dirty food, knocks bells off American chain store fast food. Still bad for you but wayyyyy better!
