Yep, all of compendium got their faction keywords stripped so they won't work with the new allegiance abilities.

And they all lost any keywords letting them get synergy with, or share allegiance with non compendium models.

Oh, and where a named character was downgraded, GW didn't decrease it's GHB1 points.

My group is not at all happy with this, there's already talks of us ignoring GH2017, these other changes people are okay with but still feels like it's just piling on nerfs.

Is there anywhere to see faction by faction break down's on balancing? I want to know the balancing changes to Khradron Overlords and Beastclaw Raiders.

FAQs
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: Is an FAQ required when you can discuss things with your
opponent before a game?
A: Players should always feel free to discuss the rules
before a game, and change things as they see fit if they
both want to do so, whatever the printed rules and FAQs
may say. The rules and FAQs simply provide a ‘default
setting’ for your games.

There's no where that compiles all the changes for you as the FAQ are hot off the press and the GHB2017 not out till tomorrow. The headline changes are Thunderers can only have 1 of each special weapon and Khemists don't stack, for BCR it's that Stonehorns no longer half damage from the total but the characteristic itself. This means 10x damage 1 attacks now does 10 wounds rather than 5. As for points changes, the GHB2017 has a red star against every profile which changed.

Hope this helps! :-)

Love the new FAQ, restored a lot of the faith I lost when I saw the new points. Khemist nerf was totally needed, its actually worth 100 now instead of 140. Of course that's true for thunderers as well :( I'm even happy with the damage nerfs on the skyrigger guns, they always felt too strong before.

I'm going to be honest regarding the Thunderers.

I'm okay with the way they did it. I feel like while they took away the ability for you to stack a specific weapon...the interplay between the different specials now makes for a more interesting and varied setup.

I really kind of hope that when we get the AdMech stuff for 40k, we have a similar interplay.

The warscroll change I am very happy with, but they also bumped them up from 100 to 140 points. The latter is the problem since they were only worth that much as a 5-mortar build with the previous warscroll.

It's the trifecta that killed them for me. Solo weapons per 5, point bump, and no khemist stacking. And combination of 2 would have been fine. It was all three that broke the back.

Kind of mad that I can't use my knights in my empire army unless I waste ally points. 280 points for 10, so that only leaves 120 ally points left in a goddam list?

And empire cannon? Yea might as well just use the far superior ironweld arsenel cannon now. But thats more ally points you have to waste.

So either I dont play around 400 points of my own models, retiring them for the most part. Or only play them in narrative games, or house rule.

Yea I can kinda see how people would be mad about this. Horticrux looks fun though at least.

Well that is going to shake things up. Though worried it is still typical GW on some items. Increase cost and nerf at the same time. Will be picking up my copy tomorrow.

Though one note, where the F is Tamurkhan? His profile is not in the pdf compendium.

Sad that my beastmen lost some synergy with the old units and worst, lost all their named characters. They didn't even create generic versions for them :(

The Greatcannon has superior range to the Cannon meaning you still might want to choose it. Knights haven't changed in points and if you take a mixed order list you don't have to worry about ally points. The only change is you now have the option to get special allegiance abilities if you take a Freeguild only army.

It seems to me you can't ally in any compendium though because they all lack faction keywords. So they can only be part of a grand alliance list.

I actually expect a new pair of Freeguild Knights box sets (foot and mounted) and warscrolls to be published soonish. The knights are among the weakest models (as in the sculpts are primitive compared to current methods) left in the old Empire range and are long due an overhaul.

A little cheaper than 2 start collecting boxes which is pretty much what this set contains.

I wouldn't say soonish but I certainly can see it happen when the Freeguild get focused on. (My bet is a release for a successful Lantic Empire on their oh...18th try at rebuilding?)

We're talking about the Empire Knights riding horses, right?

Those haven't been available since Age of Sigmar launched, at least here in the US.

Compared to the other AoS starters, it's far more expensive. Still a good deal, maybe, but seems inconsistent with the value they've recently included in starter sets.

It's the same price as the heresy boxes with around a third fewer minis.

It's all the full multipart kits barring he two characters, the other AoS starter box was monopose models missing out many of their latter weapon options so the price difference is understandable

The Hunters are half of the content from the boxed set.
The full box is 10 for $60, this is 5.

That's the only thing that I can't put a price tag to beyond the characters.

It's not a starter. It is a campaign box like death masque which was also £95 for a similar number of minis. There have been several 40k campaign boxes. This is the first for AOS.

I think the box is interesting but even as a Nurgle and Stormcast collector not super eager to pull the trigger. You've got to want all the models there for it to be worth it. I'm a bit iffy on some of the Vanguard stuff and the snail guy is cool but doesn't get me going.
