The Black Templars not mixing with such foul psyker heretics.

Those Chaplain heads, I mean I already have a truck load of Chaplains but now I have to make another one with that half skull jaw mask, now that would look badass!

Those Plague Marines.

Those extra kits for Mutant Rabbles!

I'm going to be somewhat annoyed by those Reivers; it appears that the putative Sergeant only has the mask portion, and no helmet option.

The Reivers are cool designs but the poses are terribly static. Hope a proper kit gets released soon to complement these.

A Librarian with a helmet option? The getting started boxes look like a cool idea. Although I'll wait for the proper kits on the Primaris side, the DG and Poxwalkers could tempt me.

So, primaris marines being bigger than the old marines, now «easy to build» marines, colored sprues, skull helmets etc...
It looks like 40k is definitely aimed at kids now.
I hope FW don't go this way with The Horus Heresy

on the forum. Obviously

How is "easy to build" different from the Snap On kits they have? This is not new. I remember buying snap on kits from GW years ago.

What are your thoughts on the new Getting Started kits, should they have a seperate thread? What about the upcoming DG? It looks like GW is going to mix releases somehow but all in one topic will probably get messy soon.

Actually it looks exactly like the Grave Wardens grenade launchers

The reivers are a bit cartoonish, I like them..but they are a different style for sure.

But there are a lot of tabletop/wargamers out there who play x wing, other games etc who have probably never actually built a model before. These kits are good for actual beginners. It's easy for us to look down on these kits cause we've been in it for so long. But for outsiders looking in.. the dark imperium set may seem daunting...and this new small starter with the mat and colored sprues (and true snap fit, not monopose) might be the way to go.

Hope that these are priced at £10 a kit like the AOS easy to build kits. The small model count suggests so:

*Slowly raises eyebrow.* All they need is some green stuff bones here and there on the armour.

Are people dissing on Chaplain helmets?! That's a heresy! To dismiss skull helmets is to dismiss the Emperor himself.

So those Reiver swords do not seem to be power weapons. So they have a bolt pistol and CCW, and can probably infiltrate. Not terribly frightening, I have to say.

Plus those skull helms would be ace for some Renegades, particularly Red Corsairs. WITNESS!!

Also producing kits aimed at the younger beginners is in no way a bad thing, after all we were all kids once.

And let's be real here, it's not like most infantry kits are really built with a whole lot of posing options, at least if they have 2 handed weapons. Without modifications, which you can do pretty easily to monopose models too, a bolter marine looks like a bolter marine, a termagaunt looks like a termagaunt, a devastator looks like a devestator.

Fluff wise SM combat blades are power weapons.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'm beginning to like the look of this stuff. Maybe I'll just get a small detachment.

After having a longer look at the Reivers they seem different enough from the regular mkX armour to warrant there own(non easy build) kit.

Looks like there is a three man Intercessor easy build set as well. The ones in the First strike picture are posed differently from the DI models.

The sword is S×3 ap-6 with 3d6+6 damage and the reiver pistol has the same stats as the avenger gatling cannon.

Yunno, since we're making up rules.

Yes. After Inceptors deal-wielding heavy bolters I certainly expected a bit more oomph.

No they aren't.

Anyway I might do a small force now. Maybe a squad or two of intercessors, a hellblaster squad and some reivers.

Or an entire company. That sounds fun and I like painting marines.

I think the skull masks would look better (and stealthier) in dark silver or black.

Yes! This whas what I wanted, a generic Commander Primaris kit!

Oh boy, oh boy! And that Librarian, it has to be the first librarian Model that I like!

The skull helmets are pretty edgy but I just love Chaplains so...

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Black is obviously the best choice.

The starter set is perfect enough for me atm. The captain, Lieutenants and the 2 intercessors are just over 500 and sit nicely as a small detachment of Red Scorpions and Imperial Fists for my Imperial force, gods of war surrounded by masses of mortals. Never been so excited to paint a space marine!

I'm not actually that impressed by the librarian. Too much robe. Great for Dark Angels, I guess.

I have to recognise it. GW has learned. All this easy to build kits like AoS, the "mini-starter set", that is a mix of Storm of Sigmar and Blood and Thunder, the book that probably will cost 6€ like the AoS one.

They are just premium products for a very very small price. Perfect to get people in the game!

Yeah, I love it for that reason!
Plus... a Helmet? A helmeted librarian?! GW has ear my pleas!
