It makes for some interesting reading. The battle of Solway moss for example occurred in the 'Debatable Lands'. Awesome name, sounds like something out of a fantasy novel, but it really was an area along the border between England/Scotland. An area on the west side of the country that neither crown had agreed who owned which part.
I seem to remember one funny story of an attempt to settle the issue, the representatives of both crowns meeting at some Inn, getting drunk, and going off in different directions (after losing each other) to draw the border - which didn't really help.

...but sadly agree that it's likely bunk.
I still believe we will see plastic Sisters of Battle by the end of the year. I remember that when the new canoness miniature came out at the end of 2016, GW was surprised by how well it sold and the story was that it pushed GW into doing more with the SoB. However, the GW process of miniature design through to final production seems to take about a year, so it would make sense that we don't see anything before the end of 2017.
Times vary.
IT can take a few months just to get moulds cut for plastic injection moulding, Add into that that there are kinks and issues that need to be worked out, variations of mould, optimisation ect ect, it can be 6 months just to get the mould ready.
BEfore you get to that you have concept, design, feedback, redesign, sculpting, alteration , resculpting, test printing, test casting, ect ect ect ect
The standard for GW seems to be three years of development with several projects on the go at once. I've no doubt that could push a faction out in a year, But I doubt they'd dedicate so much labour and time to getting it rushed out if it could risk lowering the number of people working on the dark imperium release.
Now I don't believe the rumour for a second, however, it should be noted that much of the "design" phase work for plastic Sisters is already done, they already have CAD files for their armour and likely a digital library of iconography etc, because they had to do them for Celestine and the Geminae. That's not to say there's no work left to do, adding detail, figuring out the poses, how to cut the models and pack out the sprues etc will be a big timesink I don't doubt, but they're not quite starting from scratch if they did decide to put a rush on them.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

I like the reivers with helmet.
I've been thinking about turning my DI NuMarines into true scale Night Lords or maybe "Space Sharks" for some time now (though my Charcharodon Guard chapter is older than the fleshed out background for Space Sharks). Both could use some skull masks. The loyalists even the more scout-y bodies, but the legs would need more armour.

It's a really interesting part of British history, well worth reading about. George Macdonald Fraser (of Flashman fame) wrote an excellent book about the Border Reivers. My dad lives in Dumfries, and I've spent many a day driving out to old ruined peele towers in those parts. Anyone with the surname Johnstone, Nixon, Armstrong, Eliot, Maxwell etc, will probably have some Borders connection!
Off-topic, but a Border Reivers skirmish wargame would be amazing ...

Further off topic, but I did find some rules and miniatures as well. Fairly cheap, too, at less than $2 a model.

If Age of Sigmar is anything to go by, they are not. The new starter will come with a datasheet that allows for the smaller 3 marine unit for both the intercessors and rievers, but the codex when it comes out will likely have the minimum at 5. That's what they did for the 3 model stormcast liberator and 2 model stormcast retributor units that come in the Storm of SIgmar mini-starter.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

I would actually like it if they were in 3 man cells as opposed to 5. GW has developed an odd fixation with multiples of 5, while in the past you had a greater variation of squad composition.

Retributors actually have a minimum unit size of 3, just so you know.
Because that's what they were introduced with in the original Age of Sigmar starter set.

Well they did break that line when centruions came out
still dont understand how they fit into the actual codex asterties.
also technically now devestators with a cherub is a 6man squad.

Not for the GHB pointage though. Min squad size for them in GHB is 5. Just like the dracoth guard could be units of 1 without points, but min squad points wise for them is 2.

White Dwarf Preview
The latest White Dwarf is nearly upon us, and with it a raft of great hobby content, from battle reports to tutorials and exclusive previews. We were lucky enough to get a look at July’s issue before it goes on sale – here’s what you can expect.
Firstly, there’s a great look at the new releases for Warhammer 40,000, namely the new Primaris Space Marine heroes and Getting Started sets. You may remember these from our reveal – this is your chance to get up-close and personal with the new sets. You’ll also get to see Open War cards for the first time – we’ll have more information about these soon!
There’s also an in-depth interview with the Citadel Design team – the guys that make all the miniatures you know and love. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to make the best fantasy miniatures in the world or want some valuable insights into our design process, it’s well worth a read.
If you’re getting stuck in with the new Warhammer 40,000, this month’s White Dwarf is your comprehensive guide to the new edition, starting with our first Tactica Imperialis – a monthly guide to strategy in the new Warhammer 40,000. We’re starting where your army will – at the list building stage – with a rundown of how datasheets and army special rules work. This is a great way to get an edge on your opponents in your first few games.
There’s also an intense battle report between the T’au Empire and a pack of loot-hungry Orks led by Kaptin Badrukk – showing off all the new rules in action as two of Warhammer 40,000’s most diametrically opposed factions duke it out among the ruins of an Imperial city.
Painters of all levels can look forward to a huge number of painting guides covering the new releases. Even if you’re not a collector of Death Guard or Ultramarines, there are a wealth of tips to use on your models, from painting rotting flesh en-masse to realistic scrolls and seals for characters. Our favourite is an in-depth guide to painting the face on the Primaris Librarian, right down to bags under his eyes – perfect if you’ve been looking for a unique way to make a character stand out.
Fans of Warhammer Age of Sigmar (or just anything greenskin) will enjoy this month’s Illuminations, which has a closer look at The Art of Waaagh, featuring classic illustrations as well as some awesome new ones, including a huge mob of Ironjawz smashing through a shieldwall of Stormcast Eternals. There’s also a close look at James Karch’s enormous collection of Astral Templars Stormcast Eternals, complete with his guide on painting these boisterous hunters of beasts.
This is just a taste of what’s to come in July’s White Dwarf – we haven’t even covered the half of it! For all the above and much much more, pick up your copy on the 7th of July, or subscribe to guarantee you never miss an issue.

The banner has "https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NZ/ 40k-Pre-Orders-Old" as the URL.
If you remove the "Old" from it, it opens up the same page but with another preorder tab that says "0".
