Correct.

The alternate build and sprue shots.

I really like that alternate build. Pointy hand of command, for the win!

Librarian

Almost forgot! You have a choice of guns for the Captain. Auto Bolt Rifle(the unscoped version) or standard Bolt Rifle(scoped).

Bringing over for the new page.

These should be $35 USD.

The Librarian helmet looks pretty awesome. The Psychic Hood cables are feeding into the top of it. 10/10 will have him wear the helmet. The sword definitely looks more impressive at the right angle. Very nice.

The Captain's weapon options are just the Bolt Rifle and the Auto Bolt Rifle. The ammo feed and scope can be changed out for the ammo box and revolver feed of the Auto Bolt Rifle. No other melee options besides the sword and a pointing hand. A little disappointing. I was hoping there would be a helmet without the augmented eye, so I could put the augmented eye on the Hellblaster Sergeant and the normal one on the Captain. Not a huge deal though. He still looks pretty great, but I definitely like the Librarian better.

Yeah I think I may use a different head on the captain, the helmeted option looks like it has a tiny groove on top so the crest is almost mandatory. I may use the hellblaster bare head from the starter or one of the other ones with a lower face mask. I am glad the captain has a couple gun options...but definitely a bummer about the melee choices...sword or nothing I guess.

The nice part of the Captain is that his melee option is just the extended arm and you can fiddle about if you have a weapon with a hand attached to it.

From what I can tell, I think the helmet actually does not have a groove or anything.

I take that back. I looked at the 360 degree and you can spot it.

I am a pit underwhelmed by the weapon options. I was hoping for something that was not already available in existing Primaris kits. Combi-boltrifle or something like that.

I kinda noticed it looking closely at the sprue, but it shouldn't be too hard to fill with greenstuff and file down if someone did want to use it without the crest. Though I think it's very good the shoulderpads are seperate...that was kind of a key thing for me.

Interesting thing is the transfer sheets, they strongly imply that Primaris, Chaplain, Lieutenant and Apotechary kits are coming. Another interesting thing that the Captain has a pistol too, so it seems to be possible to arm him with three weapons.

I am disappointed by the lack of techmarine transfers on that Ultramarine HQ transfer sheet. Sure would be nice to get a plastic techmarine.

The Primaris Librarian is carrying no visible ranged weapon. Will he not be allowed even a bolt pistol?

anotgher thing toi consider is that if you want a helmet but no crest, the Primaris heads are apparently interchangeable with standard Marine heads. so odds are you're sitting on a few spares

To be fair, Techmarines traditionally have had the important part of their iconography(the cog and skull) molded on.

Not unheard of in Age of Sigmar for casters to have a ranged weapon profile for their melee weapon.

The new T'au sets had decals for one specific Sept.

It's a push to make it easy for people just getting in. The alternate build of the Captain is meant to be a Raven Guard, yet no RG transfers are available from GW.

I'm curious as to what Lieutenant options we'd get in blister form.

If I had to guess it'd be either the options they have now in a different pose, in others words auto bolt rifle/bolt rifle/bolt pistol/power sword. I wouldn't mind another kit of them getting different options from those in the starter though...I think people would get more use out of them that way.

I think i'm looking forward to the apocethary the most...the artwork shown off a little while ago looked promising.

Points are also on the website, under downloads under the pics. But... just the points, and not the datasheets.

The gun is actually a 'master-crafted stalker bolt rifle' for 5. (Deathwatch stalkers are 4. )

The captain is 13 points more than the standard SM captain and the primaris librarian is... the same price as a standard librarian. Hmmm.

https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/Downloads/ENG_Primaris_Marines_Release_01_July_1st.pdf

Also, unlike the other primaris stuff so far, Deathwatch can take them.
And while the Libbys can use (actually must use) the SW discipline if they're space wolves, that isn't true if they're DA or BA.

The art on the pdf is really fairly terrible- the winged skull on the chest piece was apparently done freehand by a servitor rather than being a molded part of the armor, and the duck on top of the psychic hood is quite odd.

Happily on the model it looks like you can leave off the bizarre yellow plastic tubes and the duck. And a helmet on a psyker! Wow.

The PRIMARCH of the Ultramarines is alive, in fact the only Primarch confirmed concious in the 41st millennium.

It wouldn't even make sense from a marketing perspective to focus on anyone other then Ultramarines. Blame Sanguinus, Ferrus and Dorn for being dead and the others for wandering into alternate dimensions and getting lost.

But the chapters aren't dead. And Roboute is still pushing the idea that _Chapters_ are still very important, giving large chunks of 'Greater Ultramar' over to successor chapters.
Just because he's currently wandering around doesn't mean the Fists, Angels and everybody else fell off the map and shouldn't get nice things in 8th edition. [Even more so since we know absolutely that several of the ones that 'wandered into other dimensions' will wander back in the next year or two. And possibly also Dorn, since he isn't actually confirmed dead, just missing a hand [And comics rules apply- if you haven't seen the body, he ain't dead].

A little dissapointed about the options on that captain. Glad that they add at least some, but I expected something like the old SPace Marine COmmander kit in number of options...

Or even better, something like the old Ork Warboss and Empire General kit.

EDIT: So they give you the points in PDF form for free? And they give you the rules in the box. So... are they gonna release free rules AoS style at last? That could be cool, even if they release codex with extra layers of rules and personalization.

ugh I hope not. generally it seems Marines have always been a slightly better value then other similer armies packs, so I'm hoping that continues over to Primaris Marines

The hallmark of Primaris seems to be a lack of options. It's been consistent on everything so far, and backed up in the fluff (at least the Dark Imperium novel). The Primaris captain even lampshades it.

Eh. They could have just included the datasheets in the pdf if they wanted to do that.

I think over all the idea of Primaris Marines is they're supposed to be MUCH more standardized then standard marines. course this'll proably change as time goes by and GW starts needing to put out more kits and needing a reason to revise kits for the various squads

And thats suck BrianDavion.

I know that for some poor races like Necrons the lack of options is a given, but Space Marines where the faction of variety and flexibility and.... heck, this is about our models. I like to have variety for my models both aesthetical and gameplay whise :(

ohh I agree, especially on aestetic value, however I think with Primaris Marines they really wanted to avoid obseleteing astartes, so they wanted to make Primaris distinct, and I feel that the way they're doing it is making Primaris units of extreme specialsits with limited options, to allow standard astartes to have that place of "extreme customization" a part of me wonders if GW's idea is for Primaris Marines to be sort of a "starting point" and to then have people graduate up to standard astartes, whom they're figuring due to the reduced wounds on them individually etc will be more complex.

if so this is IMHO a backwards approuch for Primaris Marines but...
