Spoiler:

Didn't you know they are pro wrestlers(hence the Mexican wrestling masks) - he layin the smack down on that guy with the emperors elbow...

I personally really like them model n rules wise, but poses are very ridged - I'm going to wait for a full kit. But my custom Primaris chapter was going to mix in scouts so theses will do instead perfectly. Also I think the imperium would be all over things like skull helmets they love them some iconography. I'd expect these guys canonically to be hitting soft targets like human heretics who already dump their pants at the incredibly rare sight of an angel of death comeing at them let alone a giant skull faced one with a meter long knife screaming ultra sonic blasts at them. I'm certain I'd being having a brown trouser day even if I was a hardened soldier.

Dreadful.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

They Shall No Fear:
Terrifying Troops: Enemy units must subtract 1 from their leadership attribute if they are within 3 "or less of any Reivers
Shock Grenade: A shock grenade does not inflict damage. Instead, each time you hit an enemy infantry unit, they are stunned until the end of the turn, you can not make defensive shots, and your opponent must subtract 1 from any shot made by the unit.

Basically that's literally it.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

The dataslate as posted above is absolute garbage. It may be different, or may change in the codex, but that's a different dataslate. That one I have posted is dreadful.

I could see them as a spoiler charge. Head in first to negate the overwatch, and debuff the target. But how much do you want to invest in that? Both in cash and points?

Lack of any movement/deployment rules is a little sad.

As I’m not a fan of the models, and the rules don’t wow me, pass.

Exactly what I expected. They will need the $100/300+ pt transport in order to get anywhere so they can be of use. A unit with short range weapons without any way to get around cheap is utterly worthless. Pass.

Urgh... The lack of infiltrate is super disappointing. Explains the point cost I guess...

I really hope the codex version is better.

yeah if they lack infiltration rules I can't seem them being very useful at all. which is a shame as I was thinking these guys could have been fun.

Seems the only thing interesting about them is the shock grenade. I can see them as support for other, deadlier units, but certainly not by themselves.

Also that primaris transport needs to be pretty amazing to give these new marines a step up. I do think it's funny that most people (myself included) feared that these new marines would outshine the old ones, but the only ones worth taking so far are the inceptors.

Lieutenants give you a re-roll to wound buff. I’d put them firmly in the “worth taking” camp.

Now if I can just get them in non-primaris...

Gw sure is trying hard to not sell primaris marines. They're all such garbage in game. When stormravens get 40.shots and admech robots get 18... Adding an additional -1 ap to a 12" pistol isn't going to cut it.

I think the other Primaris Marines have had definate uses so far. but Reivers are DEFINATLY dissappointing. unless they're very cheap, I'd rather just have assault marines.

A shot in the dark, but maybe the datasheet is missing infiltrate or something similar because in the tiny scale and simple rules of First Strike, there's no room for special rules that change how half your army deploys? I'm glad the Primaris models look so cool to me, because their rules so far just seem 'more expensive for very little gain'.

This seems likely to me as well.

Another thought.. maybe GW is being conservative with the rules for Primaris Marines to try and curtail the seemingly obvious response if they had been OP.. You know the whole "they're completely making regular Space Marines obsolete" discussion. Kinda hard to claim that when the units it's meant to be said about are kinda crappy. It would also set the stage for them to justify just rolling Primaris Marines into the regular lineup.. you know.. because they were never really popular..

Hmm, if they don't have any form of infiltrate in their final, codex version I will pass on them. I really like the models, and the shock grenades sound really useful, but a three man team will be shot down looooooong before they can get in close without any sort of transport or deployment rules.

It's time for that Repulsor GW.. "soon" indeed.

Alpharius? Never heard of him.

Seems like a really bad business plan for their new flagship army. More likely is that gw still has no idea what they're doing in regards to unit stats and rules. There is no way to think they can be op when again you have single models currently with 40+ shots in the shooting phase.

I suppose GW is thinking we can just put em in transports. and that'd work if they had an affordable transport option, but if primaris Marines transports are land raider prices like I think they'll be, not sure it'll work

Agreed that these guys could really do with infiltrate to make them useful. I'll still probably grab a full box when it's released for the models though.

Are there any other datasheets for the small units? Curious to see if any of their standard rules have been lost.

It's POSSIABLE that with the full release there'll be some magic missing component here that'll make them better (perhaps ALL Primaris Marines can take a grav cute that gives them deep strike. if so that would be... kinda amazing.)but yeah the stats as presented? are kinda bleh.

chances are their boltgun option will just be the stalker bolter the Primaris Captain has, which will, likewise, be dissappointing.

I respect that they are keeping the rules toned down and not overload these units with excessive special rules. I like the grenades - they encourage coordination. However don't Scouts have infiltrate and not these guys? Weird.

Just to be clear, it's the concept of the easy to build range that I find trashy, not the reiver models specifically. I actually think they look ok, if a bit static.

I'm not a fan of their helmets but that's easily fixed, and I could live with it.

All I'm saying is that I'd rather wait to see the full kit, with the weapon options etc, rather than buy easy to build stuff. I think that releasing the easy to build kit first is a bit sneaky by GW, as people will buy them only to have better versions of the same guys released a few weeks later.

On the subject of weapons, I think the thing that guy in the art picture is carrying is some new kind of bolt weapon that we haven't seen before. It's shorter than a bolt rifle but chunkier than a bolt gun. Some kind of short-range but high-power/rof weapon would be logical for an infiltration unit to carry.

The reason I don't think it can be a bolt rifle (apart from the fact it doesn't look like one) is because it would make reivers simply better intercessors, for 2ppm cheaper. I'm hoping that GW doesn't do that.

I think someone posted a few weeks ago that they have the option to carry bolt carbines, so I'm guessing it's that and not a simple bolt gun.
18" 4/-1/1 Assault 2 (or Rapid Fire 1) would be my guess.
