That's... stupid. Why have a different entry from regular Bolt Pistols? Or is this just AoS' bespoke rules influence?

Edit: Or it's just a mistake.

Probably because it's from the easy build? I dunno.. it says the squad is 1 Sgt +2 .. and it's different from the beginner thingy.. so still probably not 100% complete.

Ooooh.. here's a thought for everyone..
The full box of Reivers might get different options based on equipment not included in the easy build box.. Maybe those rules are being left out to drive sales of the full kits when they hit for the "oh man, mine don't have that gear" type of thing.. I know if I put together squads of those and suddenly the full kit hits with stupid vernier packs that aren't in the easy build kit I will probably be converting..

Agreed. I suspect it'll be faq'ed in a short time.

Too bad, since ap -1 on the melee weapon would make them a decent bit better.

It also would have/currently makes (since this is conjecture about it being a typo) a simple machete demonstrably better than the larger chainsword since it would retain the chainsword special rules on top of the additional -1 to saves.

Alpha Legion were the only widespread users of the power kinfe/dagger and as such possession of one is probably not a good idea, besides they own the copyright on them and finding alpharius to get a production licence is a ball ache.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

They should have AP-1 on both, it's not like it'd make the unit OP.

Hold on, Primaris is just another word for Alpha when you think about it, the first and foremost. And now this thing with the daggers -I smell a conspiracy.

This is what I keep saying.

We don't know their rules, but we soon will.

We don't know what options they will have.

The easy to build kits are an illegal squad size with no options.

So don't buy them, yet. Wait and see.

How is it an illegal squad size? Their rules card says 1 sergeant and 2 reivers.

It might be a smaller squad size to whatever rules the next kit gets, but it's not illegal. Just different.

The download for matched play says they get fielded in units of 5-10.

I think that's what he is getting at.

I think it's fair to say that the 3-man squads are not aimed at the Matched Play brigade. Hold your horses, folks. You know there are kits coming. Relaaaaax.

actually the grav chute being an option makes a lot of sense, from a matched play POV, let's assume the ability for a squad to deep strike is... 10 points (arbitrary number I pulled out of my nethers for examples sake) 10 points per squad isn't that big a deal in isolation, but if you're deploying tanks and wanna have reivers march up with your army, it's 10 points you can spend elsewhere. and maybe put some plasma rifles on a tac squad with it instead, or something

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Too bad we can't just simply expect them to proof read a single piece of paper instead of waiting for a FAQ.

You are able to field one understrength unit in matched play, but have to pay the full points cost for a minimum size unit (in this case, 5 dudes).

I'll be waiting for the proper box with all the weapon options.

Nah, they FAQ'd that, you only pay the points for the models you use if you take an understrength unit, not the minimum for a normal unit. If you're using power ratings you pay the full power rating. It means in matched play you can fill a troops slot with one model from your cheapest troops if you want to.

Unless I read the FAQ very wrong, that is.

Fair enough, I forgot about below-strength units. That addresses that issue, only leaving us with these:

We don't know their rules, but we soon will.

We don't know what options they will have.

The easy to build kits have no options.

My advice remains not to buy them, yet. Wait and see.

Honestly releasing the easy to build set first looks like GW trying to flog us this cheap kit, then sell us a more expensive one in a month because we need the weapon option and stuff.

The easy build kits are a cheap buy to make the whole hobby more attractive to newcomers and kiddies, they're not a serious way to build an army

‘If you are using Power Ratings, you must still pay the

You are correct, good catch! You only pay full on power ratings.

Just a reminder that the Codex: SM interview with Phil Kelly will be broadcasted on Twitch today. Topic will be the new fluff in the book.

On Thursday, we’ll be taking a look inside the studio, starting with an interview with legendary Warhammer writer Phil Kelly. Phil will be discussing the background in the new Codex: Space Marines. As well as the classic story of the Space Marines there’s loads of new content following the Adeptus Astartes in the wake of the Ultima Founding and the Indomitus Crusade, meaning that there’s surprises in store for even veteran players.

You can watch the interview with Phil at 2:30pm. Later in the day, we’ll be diving into Path to Glory with Ben Johnson from the Design Studio. Path to Glory is the new way to play narrative campaigns in the Mortal Realms, and Ben will be providing some insight into what you can expect when it’s released.

I think everyone got used to daily updates and news, and now the pace seems a little slow. Plus, in the absence of a narrative (or release schedule), people will create their own.

That's cool actually, super handy as I'm terrible at getting round to building and painting full units. I'm happy that this is finally a thing.

The stream just ended and, if you were waiting for any previews on new units or rules, then it was a wasted hour of your life that you'll never get back. About the only new info they shared was details on what exactly the new Primaris organs are. It was just fluff discussion and patting themselves on their corporate backs for a job well done.

Tbf they did say that it was going to be about the background, not the rules.
