The Repulsor still looks butt ugly, but I think if It's stripped down to it's main two guns (looks like it can take a Gatling in turret and twin Heavy Bolter in the hull) and given a non-Ultramarine paintjob it shouldn't be as bad

Caius Tadius on B&C forum - a (fragmentary) summary of events found in the new codex
- spoiler warning -
I managed to get a glimpse at the fluff section from 8th Edition and here's what I managed to glean from it. Apologies if the info is fragmentary.
Ultramarines:
-The 2nd Company is now commanded by Captain Acheron since Cato Sicarius was sent away to be part of Guilliman's Victrix Guard. Captain Sicarius was lost in the warp at the start of the Indomitus Crusade. (He does return in Dark Imperium which is set afterwards, but he still remains with the Victrix Guard).
-The other Company Captains have all nearly not really changed and are very much alive. Captain Fabian is still commanding the 3rd, Ventris the 4th, Galenus the 5th and Numitor the 8th
-After the Plague Wars ended with Mortarion escaping, Guilliman spent some time in Ultramar leading the reconstruction, fortification and rebuilding efforts before having to leave again for other parts of the Imperium.
-The Ultramarines then go on something called the "Vengeance Campaigns" where they leave Ultramar and attempt to take back demon worlds while also handling an Ork WAAAGH. They take back 3 of the 7 demon worlds but the fate of the rest of the planets are unknown.
White Scars:
-The White Scars are badly depleted by the renewed Chaos invasions due to the rift opening but the Indomitus Crusade shows up and delivers their Primaris reinforcements, saving the Chapter.
-They then launch a vengeful campaign against the Red Corsairs, attacking and boarding a major Space Station siezed by Huron Blackheart. The Chapter Master of the White Scars, Jubal Khan, and his honor guard fight their way to the heart of the structure when its plasma reactors blow, the strike force becomes trapped in the exploding structure. The fate of the WS Chapter Master and his honour guard are unknown.
Imperial Fists:
-Seeking revenge for the attack on the Phalanx, the Imperial Fists launch an invasion of the Iron Warrior's newly fortified world of Ironhold (original). Aided by several Knight Houses, they win and defeat their arch-rivals, taking the planet for the Imperium.
Black Templars:
-When the Great Rift opened, a horde of traitor forces began targeting Imperial Shrine Worlds for destruction, led by the Word Bearers. The Black Templars commit themselves to defending these holy places from the traitor marines and several crusades are launched to drive the traitors back. The BT take heavy losses but hold the line against the enemy.
-The Black Templars are called upon to put down a rebellion on a planet. As they fight they discover that the enemy is managing to put more soldiers on the field faster than they can kill them. Realizing the planet was damned as most of its population was turning against them, the BT are forced to exterminate the entire population to put an end to the threat.
Salamanders:
-A Bloodthirster named Khar'kul leads his demonic forces into a Hive World, slaughtering anyone in his way. The Salamanders deploy in Chapter Strength and overcome this enemy with the use of massed Aggressor squads equipped with flamers.
Iron hands:
-When the Great Rift opened, Medusa came under a massive attack by the forces of Chaos. However, the Iron Hands manage to hold the line and eventually the traitors retreat from the planet, leaving behind a battered Chapter.
-The Great Rift that engulfed most of the Space around them now receded, leaving behind planets tainted by Chaos. The Iron Hands launched a brutal "Scorched Earth Crusade" that cleanses these heavily populated worlds from the taint but leaves them in ruins.
-The Iron Hands discover a possible pathway through the Great Rift, back to the other side of the Imperium that is guarded by the forces of Chaos and several renegade warbands. They launch a massive attack on this site and defeat the traitors in battle but just as they are about to reach the pathway, the renegades detonate their charges and destroy the portals. (This is starting to be a recurring theme)
-They then join something known as the Stygian Crusade along other Imperial forces where they make great gains at first but are forced to retreat under relenting pressure.
Shinespider
Caius Tadius, on 23 Jul 2017 - 6:27 PM, said:
-They then join something known as the Stygian Crusade...
This is detailed in the rulebook. Tzeentch and Magnus launch a massive attack against the Stygius sector to conquer it. There's the usual back-and-forth, but at the end of the day they mostly succeed.

If I were to nit-pick anything it's the random shouldermounted microscope.
I know what he has and he looks like a dingbat sitting there inspecting it on the battlefield. The model looks like the best attempt at becomong a causality. I know the roles of the Apothecary and the model conveys absolutely none of it. So while he is busy being the "keeper of the chapter's future" he is also disrespecting the honored dead....that phrase the constantly pops up on the bottom of every imperial army rule book.
You even get stuck with a stupid load out for the apothecary. Why is it a gunslinger? Why would the apothecary ever be a gunslinger? Why doesn't he have the bolt carbine...a weapon that makes sense?
Whoever Darren Latham is, he should of spent maybe 20 seconds just reading up on the role and purpose of the apothecary on the battlefield or shown the sculpt to one of the many 40k fans that have/are battlefield medics so he didn't create this goober of a model.

They way the sprues are laid out, I wouldn't be surprised if they get variants of some of those units. The weapons for the Redemptor are on a different Sprue. My guess is we will see a Furioso Variant for Blood Angels and a Mortis Variant for Dark Angels. Hopefully a giant Frost Cannon for Space Wolves. It is actually quite ingenious.
And yet they'll probably still leave BA, DA, and SW unable to take Cataphractii or Tartaros armor. First founding chapters, but sod those guys.

The Chaplin and Apothecary look great. Although I think I prefer the Chaplin with the crimson/purple robes from the artwork. Hopefully the Apothecary will follow the rest of the Primaris characters and have a helmeted option. Until we see the price my only gripe would be the scenic base on the Apothecary. But that's easily sorted out with some rubble.

Sorry, there's complaining about that gorgeous sculpt by one of GW's most consistent and talented sculptors? "Stop liking what I don't like" isn't worth filling up a thread with. Move on and live a happier life.
Also, the magnifying lenses aren't shoulder-mounted. They're fitted to his suit collar/gorget - you can see a channel that it could slide along.
Edit: I absolutely LOVE the Desert Eagle model of Bolt Pistol that Chaplain has! Hand Cannon or what?

The Apothecary's datasheet had rules for the same pistol as the Chaplain, so I am hoping that there is a different hand than the Gene seed one where he is holding the Absolver Pistol. Failing that, I will move his pistol arm up and turn his head so it looks like he just extracted a Gene seed and he is now shooting away in the other direction. That way it looks like he just stood up from kneeling down to extract the Gene seed from the brother under his foot (he was using his boot to steady the corpse to gain better access to the progenoids).

Yea thank god they decided to mount those steam punk goofy lenses on his gorget rather then something practical like a fething helmet
Hate the pose, he looks like a douche standing on the fallen like that, luckily I guess you can just scrape the marine away and flock over it lol.

You could also paint the fallen Marine in Traitor Legion colours..
Have to say I quite like both of these, but I'm not quite seeing the excitement the Apoth has generated in some. The paint job on the Chaplain with the subtle tonal shift through various blacks and browns is the most impressive bit IMO.

And it looks like the magnifying glasses are geared to move back and forth along the neck.

For the chaplain, I like the skull mask and all the robes, but I wish he had a normal breastplate instead of the ribcage. Will have to see the model and if that would be terribly hard to mod at all.

I just noticed that he is using them to examine the progenoid in his hand.
I see what you are saying about the gear so they can move back and forth. Still, they are kind of ridiculous.

Apothecaries aren't just "battlefield medics". They're the quite literal keepers of a Chapter's future.
That thing he's looking at? It's the fallen Marine's geneseed, according to Darren Latham(who sculpted the Apothecary). That's the most important part of a fallen Marine.

He looks like a arena FPS character whose bio says "armored biologist who is prone to losing focus when he sees something interesting amongst the bodies of the dead" than a combat medic who is doing everything in his power to keep his battle brothers alive while in the thick of battle.
He doesn't even look like a battlefield medic, he looks like an over grown biologist doing a post battle analyst of the enemy dead..
He would make a great model for a follower of Fabius Bile with a few addiitons and paint sceheme - FB even likes making Big Marines - maybe Cawl knows him.
Definitely would fit fine in the apothecary is the last guy you ever want helping you look the Fabius Bile gives. The I'm not here to help anyone...I just want easy victims for experiments.
Obviously you have created an image in your head of what an apothecary model should look like.. and moreover that you feel like miniatures should somehow be posed in a way that is a representation of them in battle. That's cool.. just stop trying to force that on the rest of us. Automatically Appended Next Post: Hey.. everyone complaining about the Chaplain..
The alternative, is a guy with a skull mask in normal power armor holding a stick and a pistol.. You have access to everything you need to make that RIGHT NOW.. you don't even have to wait for the official model to release ...and not be used by you. Best of all, you can buy any number of kits right now that gives you a suit of Primaris armor for less than $5 each and convert up an Apothecary too! (seriously.. these are some of the easiest conversions people.. and will keep you from buying a $30 kit you don't even like...)
Personally, I think all the new kits they've shown are decent... overpriced but decent. I'm a little unclear as to whether or not there is a Primaris Techpriest but otherwise it's pretty good stuff.
I do feel like the Aggressors are kinda doofy looking.. but part of that is me wanting them to look a little more like normal terminators.. and I think with a few BT bits they'll look correct

I'm sorry if this has been asked or detailed already but I haven't seen it.
Is there a detachment restriction on the number of chapter tactics you can field in a detachment or army? For i stance can i field white scar bikers and salamander devastators in the same detachment?
Is there any similar restrictions on chapter specific relics or warlord traits or strategems?
