Ok, maybe I'm going mad, maybe its the conspiracy theorist in me, but I think Eldar are getting some kind of significant revamp in the future:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Eldar-Wraithlord

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Eldar-Wave-Serpent

Both are out of stock? Not even 'temporarily out of stock', but out of stock and discontinued?! See the following:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Frequently-Asked-Questions#15

This is a real bummer for me personally as I was planning an Eldar army for 8th that was a Wraith host with Aspect Warrior Strike force for backup, but now two of my core units are OOP.

I know, I know, these models are still available on shop shelves and in FLGS and online etailers, but, it doesn't bode well for these particular models in the future.

Will they be in the new Codex?
Are they simply being replaced with newer, better models?
Are they being replaced with entirely new units?

I was hoping for a full range of plastic Aspect Warriors with the future new Codex. But who the hell knows now?

The Wraithlord is way too new to be replaced by a new model. The Wave Serpent could (though the old Eldar plastics are pretty superb from a design standpoint and have all the necessary "bits".

We will see.

Outside the box set, so far they are £22.50 per model. I would advise not getting into them.

Don't think it won't translate into £50 minimum for a box of troops.

Fair point regarding the price of Primaris characters, but, *atleast* I know for certain (as certain as anything is with GW), they won't be discontinuing the Primaris sets any time soon

Back to topic, and the thought of me outlaying on stuff that maybe permanently discontinued....

That said, are there many examples of where a squad or entry has been permanently discontinued? Lots of examples of squads and vehicles getting redesigned over the years, and some special characters have been left by the way side over the years too...

But what makes me thing twice is AoS. The entire range is getting revamped to suit the lore, and while I can still buy High Elf Dragon Prices (my favourite WFB unit ever), I wouldn't touch any of the High Elf models until they release there new 'Aelf' book due whenever....

And the lore has shifted in 40k too. Who's to say the entire Aeldari range won't be distilled into a single Ynnead faction? Who needs Wave Serpents when they can use Raiders instead?

I think someone mentioned that the Carnifex has been suspiciously unavailable for some time as well (although they're just "temporarily out of stock"). So maybe they're doing something with the small MCs?

As for the Serpent, it's kinda weird that it would go out of production, but not the Falcon of which it's based on. I'm honestly at a loss for this one since it makes very little sense.

It's most likely reboxing.

The reason I say that is because the Succubus was "No Longer Available" a week ago, but is now back on the page and you can order the model.

Because the Wave Serpent is strong in 8th edition and I imagine it sold out due to its newfound popularity.

Decided to drop in to the local Warhammer store today, find out whats going on.

Only suspicions of a reboxing, or a possible dual boxing of the Wave Serpent / Falcon models. Clueless about the Wraithlord. I made it clear I was looking to buy Primaris Marines instead, if the Wave Serpent / Wraithlord was permanently out of stock. *shrug*

They called the guy on Customer Support, who said that the Wave Serpent was "completely out of stock in the Warehouse, and unsure if there getting any more". Don't take that as gospel, even the Store Manager wasn't in agreement with that opinion either, so he promised to call up Customer Support on Monday and find out whats going on.

I'll post back once I find out more.

i strongly suspect that the current stock is gone, and its pending a reboxing (and a price hike to the match the falcon & fire prism/night spinner).

There is a lot of stuff currently temporarily or not-so-temporarily out of stock. It varies by country a little bit, but I'm not too concerned long term as yet. To some degree it may just be initial enthusiasm for 8th bringing in sales after 7th murdered desire for the models.

A Wave Serpent / Falcon kit would be nice - even better with the Eldar vehicle upgrades bits added in, etc. However that would also likely indicate no new models for the next 5-10 years on that kit.

Are you confusing the wraithlord and wraithknight?

I literally just bought myself a second 'lord, but I am surprised they got rid of the Wave Serpent. Why not just squat the falcon, no-one uses them.

Wowzers. You're right. I was so sure the current model came with the 3rd ed update. I was even using wraithlords back then and was sure I never had any of the old metal ones. Huh. Mandela effect, I guess.

Probably re boxing since they said that from now on the boxes will have data sheets for all the models.

Flacons are what got me to start Eldar. I have two, and at least one makes it into most of my lists. Sure, they are second fiddle to a lot of other things in the codex, but that still makes them pretty decent in an absolute sense.

I need another WS. Missed getting the box with them bundled with the DA. Next time I can get one in a discount bundle with stuff I can use I’ll probably grab it. I new WL would also be tempting. I love the look of the current one, but he doesn’t really suit my style of play.

It's surprising it's only 11 years old, it feels considerably older when compared to things like the Dreadknight and Talos.

Its from the days when the box cover was a photo of the model surrounded by other minis, and the back call for "bleached bone" and shows them bascoating the mini without an undercoat, HOW DOES THAT NOT FEEL OLD?!

The new WL? Why does that young pup not feel old? Because this is the guy sitting on my shelf:

You kids these days with your fancy “plastics”. There is tons of stuff that came out in 3rd+ that I still think of as “new”. I’ve got minis older then some of my opponents, “old” is a very relative term.

Thank you for making my point about age being relative. I think I picked him up sometime late 2nd edition. Painted him last year-ish.

Still want the new one.

I caved in.

Bought Dark Imperium today, and enough extra Primaris units from Ebay to make up a worthy force for a decent sized points game.

Still want more Inceptors! Watch this space for a new P&M log.

I'm officially putting the Aeldari / Eldar on hold for now - I think I'll just wait for the new book whenever it hits, I'm sure I'll be bored of my Primaris by then
