I'm working on other things for now... so I doubt there will be any more Squats for a while (sculpting wise... I still have the army to paint ).

I made the DJ for my DJ friend so it would be cool for you to get one for yours . I have sent the latest batch off and it has been received by the caster so it's now just a matter of time before they will be made available.

I was hoping to paint up a Christmas miniature but didn't have time... so here's the latest sculpt, an Ordnance Officer. Merry Christmas :

Excellent sculpting, the beard and moustaches are wonderful

Incredible sculpting! So much character.

The Ordinance officer looks like he has been at the wrong end of that ordinance!

I'm currently working on other things so it may be a while before more space Dwarfs turn up... but there are more planned .

A small update... Thor, the Engineseer and the two advisors have now been sent off for casting. I should have sculpted a pair of Servitors to go with the Engineseer but I have been distracted with a couple of other projects...

First, a friend of mine asked me to sculpt him a diver that he could wear as a pendent. He provided me reference to use and this is what I came up with:



Second, a conversion was needed for a game board at Salute 2023... so I dug out a Hasslefree Miniatures dolly and converted it into this well known, sci-fi heroine:



I am now working on a caricature of a political figure and a pair of laughing Buddhas... which are far from finished. Hopefully, I'll get back to the Seritors soon but I think I just need a bit of time away to act as a palette cleanser .

Things are ticking along... I now have another proxy Chimera for my converted Squat army:

Base-coated (waiting for washing/highlighting):



The conversion (based on a Meng toon King Tiger):



And the last batch of miniatures have been cast in resin and will be delivered once the diver has also been cast in metal :



I just need to finish off some servitors now...

Nice scratch-bashing on that Chimera, the base coat pulling the build together is super satisfying

When you use "all sorts" in a scratch-build it really is nice to see it with a coat of paint . As you say, it pulls everything together .

I think that I'll be trying to build two transports at the same time, next (different design to the last one but these two will both be the same as each other)... that will fill out the transport for the first platoon.

Then I'll just need another six and we're golden .

I've run out of sculpting mojo so I thought I'd paint the first infantry squad for the first platoon :



I've started to paint the heavy weapon squad for the same platoon so (hopefully) that should be finished in the next week or so .

You never cease to amaze me, Inso. I envy your skills.

These are awesome man, sculpts are really characterful even love the way you've done the lasguns.

The next unit is a heavy weapon squad with 3 lascannons and I've made the mistake of assembling them before painting... so painting the faces/side of the lascannons is going to be a bit of a pain...

First squad looks amazing mate. So nice to see some colour on these guys. The sculpting work is so clean, really impressive stuff.

Love the psyker sculpts in particular - so much character!

Cheers . I try to get as much expression into the faces as I can .

I was going to sculpt the psykers as Beastman Shaman types, instead of Dwarfs but I just had this idea that the Dwarf psykers could channel their ancestor's energies by getting drunk... and the Beer Seer and Wine Witch were born .

Lovely painting on the Squat squad Inso! Looking forward to seeing how you get on with that chunky tank.
