It looks like 5 sets of legs and five torsos for each gang with a bunch of arms, weapons and trinkets for each side.

Well, that's... underwhelming.

I mean, the minis are pretty and all, but as a boxed game the 2d tiles are certainly much less impressive than the original's terrain setup.

If the smaller box doesn't have the terrain padding out the price, it's going to sell more. Buy the terrain afterwards, once pocket money allows. 40k's First Strike and Know No Fear appear to be selling well.
For the rest of us, I expect something will appear later on, with less-industrial looking set of terrain to go with the Shadow Wars stuff.

Let's not kid ourselves. This will be as expensive if not more than Shadow War, plastic terrain or not.

I'm expecting the same or slightly more than Blood Bowl. A little more plastic overall, and more complex sculpts, with more board pieces overall.

Btw - does anyone know what the big slug thing is? I don't remember them from way back when.

Do you see any Juves in the box?

Original set didn't have Juves in the box :p

But if these are the standard production Gangs (as the Community article seems to heavily imply), then yeah. Where are my obvious juve models?

Didn't have any leaders or heavies either

But yeah, these look like complete starter gang sets as opposed to the basic stuff we got in the original box. Maybe we just use regular models as juves, or maybe they aren't in the game anymore. Heck, I guess we don't even need heavies, just limit the number of heavy/special weapons that can be carried in a gang. I could speculate all day, but I'll stop myself there.

Looking at the Escher, their lasguns and plasma pistol almost look like they're from rogue trader. That bolter/needler is certainly an interesting looking weapon. On the Goliath side there doesn't seem to be much variety in their guns.

The messaging behind the lack of terrain has been to keep the cost down. It has a slightly fewer minis then bloodbowl, maybe a bit more board real estate. I think it will probably cost exactly the same as bloodbowl.

Looks about the same for the original Necro books, though there were two of them: one for the main rules and one for the campaign.

If memory serves it was about 100 cad.

When shadow war came out, necromunda rumors kept floating around, which to me was kinda odd. I mean why release two similar games so close to each other. I get that the themes are different but mechanically it scratches the same itch.
The only thing i could think of was to absorb the development cost of the terrain, thereby making them cheap to include in the necromunda box.
Obviously i was wrong about that, but i still think they could have included terrain in the base box and kept the whole thing reasonnably affordable. GW has shown us in the past their willingness to give us good deal on starter sets.
That being said if it means a price point similar to blood bowl, thats really good.

Judging by the brief, we might be getting the proper Spire combat rules in a separate product. That's where the big campaign rules should be.

Doesn't look far off the thickness of the original book to me. The source book, if that's what the other book is, does appear to be rather lacking.

I'm looking at the new models and there's something off. Can't put my finger on it, but I have a bad feeling about them. Might just be the paint jobs or the large photos. I'll reserve judgment until I see them in grey plastic for myself, but this new round of info has not been as positive for me as I hoped.

Yeah. Pretty thin. The starter box had better contain the full rules. I mean, come on. I actually like the possibility of expanding the game with tunnel fights, but the game still is 3D and campaigns. And with so much focus on the tone and setting, I'm not sure how they're going to cram core rules, campaign rules, 3d and 2d rules and background in that sad little thing.

I want new Necromunda to be good, but the doubts are growing...

Will the book contain the full game rules though, or will you have to buy this starter set and the expansion book to play the normal game as we remember?

Including loads of card terrain in the box seems like a great way to kill any potential sales of the perfect-for-necromnda scenery they spent a fortune developing.

With the rules release, following the already established way blood bowl did it with the simple core rules and then expanding them with s subsequent books as they did with Deadzone I + II seems likely to me

Nope. It's an additional setting of sewers and tunnels in the Underhive.

3D terrain rules seemingly to follow.

I've seen some people suggesting the tiles are 6" square. Forge World's Zone Mortalis boards (that these seem to be based on) are 12" square with 6x6 2" squares. Scaling from the 8" flamer template in the product image (assuming it's not just a render or Photoshop job), they look to be at least 9" - 10" square.

I'm interested to see what the other materials are - the card decks and reference cards.

As for Juves, they might be coming later. The plastic sprues will be designed for maximum interchangeability, so having 5 completely interchangeable bodies is better than three Gangers and two Juves. Being able to build Heavies and Leaders out of the sprues is more useful, IMO, than Juves; the latter are useful, but not vital.

It didn't contain two plastic gangs in this sense and didn't have enough terrain for a proper game.

Now they are giving you plastic gangs in the proper sense and a fully playable game right out of the box, which is obviously going to be a better thing to try and sell to people with no history of playing Necromunda.

We are just getting an ADDITIONAL way to play. Terrain is still separately available and the rules for a true Necromunda game are there too.

It didn't contain the same kind of plastic gangs that the new set does, but only because GW didn't do plastics like these new models at the time (the original plastic Necromunda models were pretty great for the time and if I remember pretty well liked). And yes, they didn't provide a full table worth of terrain, but it was a good amount of terrain and much better than what we're getting with the current set.

Feel free to disagree, but personally I don't have any interest in playing Necromunda on flat boards. Thats just really unappealing to me. I wasn't expecting a large amount of plastic terrain, but I would have rather had a small sprue of terrain with the core set. That at least would have been useful as a starting point for a terrain collection. These boards will just end up traded to other players or in the trash. Maybe they'll offer some kind of bundle that offers the box plus some plastic terrain kits and whatever extra book we have to buy to play the not-boardgame version.

Is there any blog/place to see the new mechanics of necromunda?

There were people playing it.

I think it's more a case of 'buy the standalone rulebook and a box of gangers' if you want to play the old way.

I don't think it's impossible, but including rules for Spire combat in a box that cannot really implement them seems a little pointless.

So 40k and Age of Sigmar shouldn't include rules for terrain because the starter sets don't include any?

Why is it better to have tunnel fight Necrumunda and real Necromunda in separate products, when instead you should just have Necromunda as a product?

There's a 12 inch ruler in that image too.

Surely they'll be 12x12 and the 3D bulkheads will fit the 3D Zone Mortalis tiles too. Perfect for upselling!

The tiles are clearly 12" square. Not only that, but many appear to have exactly the same layout as actual zone mortalis tiles.
