True, but they have given special mechanics to CSM and DG so far. Such as the ability to summon Daemons. I don't think it would be out of line to add in a few options for Skitarii formations that have no HQ.

Yup, confirmed GW wants to keep mechanicus as half an army. Like why the feth even bother trying to release it with no new units. I get not having them ready at the word go, but dude wait till you get new units ready to release it so you can make some more money off the release? like seriously.

Wait how did you not expect that to happen? Did you follow what GW did with niche armies and niche games every time before?

Knights, Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus are in the same army because thats how they work in the fluff and how they should work in the tabletop.
You can always run a only Skitarii force, like one can run a 100% Deathwing army.

I'm going to be Devil's Advocate and say that the difference between Doctrina Imperatives (which I am sad are gone) and Canticles was interesting, and perhaps big enough to justify separate armies.

Your anger over Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus being the same army is very strange Kan.

It's an army for the Adeptus Mechanicus. What's wrong with them being together?

Well, lets not get pedantic. Of course they don't exist, but you know what I meant. I was referring to a theoretical Skitarii only detachment.

In fact, just now for fun I went to page 240 of the rule book. And it specifically says:

"On pages 243-245 you will find several Detachments that can be used with any army, and more will be published in other sources."

So there is already a written clause allowing for exactly this situation. So, maybe they will answer Skitarii player's fears and publish some new Detachments just for Skitarii that don't require an HQ

You're missing the point. They removed formations from the game for a reason, and not just to add them back in a few months later. In 8th edition, formations do not exist.

They've also already said that they won't be introducing new detachments in any of the codexes. I seriously doubt that position has been 180'd already.
That clause is likely there for narrative supplements.

Seems like Chapter Approved would also be a good place for detachments as well.

Cult Mech, Skitarii, and Knights ought to have been together in the first place. No different from say Dark Eldar containing Kabals, Wych Cults, and Covens.
In fact, what we need are Ordo Reductor units to give some more vehicles. Skitarii and Cybernetica are fairly well covered for now in plastic.

At the very least, I hope for the option for a Skitarii Tribune/Prime or Sicarian character, since they can make them out of the plastic kits.

I for one will be happy to find all Mechanicus stuff in a single book. Splitting it into three books (yes, I count Knights, too) was bogus.

If I had to guess, I'd say yes. According to Warhammer community: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/09/10/codex-adeptus-mechanicus-and-deathshroud-terminators/

Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus is the most complete guide to the servants of the Machine God we’ve ever released, covering rules as well as background of the different sects of this mysterious cult. Inside, you’ll find datasheets for the Cult Mechanicus, Skitarii, and for the first time, Questor Mechanicus Knights, as well as new Stratagems, Warlord Traits, and Relics. There are also rules for 7 forge worlds, including classics like Mars as well as more niche factions like Agripinaa and Stygies VIII – we’ll be taking a look at the powerful unique abilities for each in detailed previews next week.

Seems like enough material for an article per day until release.

It's 11am in London gimme them previews already! I am a wee bit overexcited for new flavor options. Admech feels a bit "one obvious build, and that also involves significant 'IG allies'" to me right now. I would appreciate some reasons to go all in on admech.

I wouldn't expect a Warhammer Community post before 2 or 3pm GMT. Still plenty of time for antsyness.

I wouldn't know about builds, obvious or otherwise. I just play the models I like the look of. Mechanicus got only a slim selection of models by merit of being a "new" army, though, so I wouldn't be surprised.. As always, it would have been much better if the resources poured into the umpteenth incarnation of Marines would have been used on an army that actually needs new models, but what can you do?

Saw this elsewhere, needs to be confirmed.

So, I just managed to sneak a peak at the AdMech codex at one of my game stores. They've reused the  ing Raven Guard/Alpha Legion trait again.

-1 to hit infantry units outside of 12"

It's the trait for Stygies.

Metallica gets a 6+ FNP. Mars rolls two dice for canticles (and I think they get to use both results as well though I may be remembering wrong. The second result might only apply to infantry)

Can't remember the rest. Techpriests (both the Dominus and Enginseer) can repair Knights now as well.

But they only repair 1 wound on a successful master of machines, as opposed to 1d3

Very interesting. A shame the infantry sucks so much for the -1 to be hit part.

6+ FNP on.... everything? Or just infantry? If everything, I will be very, very happy. That 16% chance of stopping a wound have a significant impact. If just infantry, then... meh.

Which is great for those factions - but AdMech is pretty vehicle heavy. If it is just infantry, it will be pretty meh. For everything really. Unless they miraculously make our infantry not suck!

Actually, (Chaos) Space Marines can get traits on T8 W14 vehicles. And it will certainly be weird if Guard can't get traits on Russes or Tyranids on monsters. And obviously Knights (perhaps not Mechanicus Knights but regular Knights) will have House tactics that they get something out of.

Traits on what vehicle is t8 w14? I think you may be mistaken. If you refer to forgeworld dreadnoughts, they do not get the traits.
