I'm using mine as scatter terrain in my Necromunda games. The main terrain will come from the Sector Mechanicus stuff. One box (two of each sprue) looks to be fine for that.

I'm guessing that "large wall section" means more than one component. I.e. An 'L' shaped section made of two or more peices. I presume that they need a perpendicular peice to be stable.

I'll probably pick up a load of the Ryza pattern ruins, as it will be good scatter terrain for the board I'm using, and not take up huge amounts of space, to create a more "sub-urban" workers camp than a full on industrial zone.

It also helps that my group uses bigger terrain as a center piece, so smaller ruins will allow it to stand out more without the board getting too cluttered making movement a bit of a chore...

I completely looked over the plastic Necromunda terrain and bulkheads/doors. Definitely interested in that, too.

I'm curious to see if those doors fit in with FW's Zone Mortalis terrain. Our FLGS has a full set of it, so if they fit, finally some (cheap) doors for the set.

Warhammer Community had a snippet on that and it appears they do:

Finally, all the terrain from the Necromunda: Underhive core set will be available separately. This includes barricades, bulkhead doors, and objectives, and while these have been designed to make adding cover to your Necromunda tables easy, they’ll also be great for Warhammer 40,000 players. The bulkhead doors even fit Forge World’s Zone Mortalis tiles!

That's very clever of them. Also great they're selling the Newcromunda terrain separately.

Well... 'cept the tiles. The bastards.

Well, the crafty buggers want you to buy the 3D versions instead.

Though, it'd be nice if Forgeworld did expand the Zone Mortalis tiles with a bit more variations - collapsed walls and the like

From the previous thread about a lunar base playing board and terrain...

Spoiler:

I just wanted to put up some quick pictures of the terrain in comparison to the Shadow War Armageddon stuff so everyone can get a good idea on how well they look on the table together.

First is a shot of two terrain pieces side by side so you can get a good idea on size and theme. The Klaisus terrain is not designed to integrate with the SW:A stuff but visually it works as there are elements that match the SW:A support structure pieces as well as the pipes.

Next, I stacked two Klaisus pieces and put them next to the SW:A piece. They do not match vertically and so trying to make a large building won't fit. The Klaisus is far better suited as scatter terrain in a larger SW:A setting than trying to "meld" both into a single terrain model.

Lastly, there is one bit of concern. As you see there are tight corners formed when you assemble the Klaisus buildings. This can be a bit troublesome for painting so I suggest you paint each item separately and then assemble after. You'll have a much easier time and your brush will thank you.

Lastly, one real drawback is the way the terrain is cut. The pieces fit together via slots like the old cardboard buildings. BUT... the two larger buildings have their slots cut reverse of the four smaller ones. This means you are limited in how you can assemble things. An unnecessary limitation, in my opinion, and one that I really wish they'd not continue with future releases.

That red oxide coloured peice looks like at least 2 parts...?

The walls are two parts. You can see the join on the sprues.

I'm gonna have to see an in boxing before I get this set. The box and images on gamesworkshops site seem misleading about the contents - and it doesn't seem worth it for just the stuff on the box cover.

Discription: In it, you’ll find 4 detailed ruined wall sections, 2 each of 2 unique designs, which slot together quickly and easily with no glue required. There are also 2 access hatches and 4 barricades.

Looks like GW has updated the page. Hopefully the remaining ruins will be released separately.

so it looks like you don't get this sprue

Spoiler:

And you get 2 each of the other 2 as that matches the box cover and description contents. But this image shouldn't be there as it's of the above sprue.

seems odd to make a third sprue and then not use it I guess it's the incentive to buy the moonbase.

Yeah, that's what i'm thinking. For the same price, you can get more ruins out of any of the imperial sector terrain kits than you can for these ruins.

I mean even one of those sprues, so you do get the complete kit. Now the only way to get everything from those ruins is in that God-awful tile kit.

Oh well. Thanks for saving me AUD$100 GW.

GW does sell those but you might want to resist doing it that way. Instead, buy this big set and see if you can trade away your "bulby things" for more space corridors and... yea, let's not go there.

Anyway, I did a quick survey of the image in the WD and it seems to break down like this:

2x Arches - http://i.imgur.com/gLZKK5e.jpg
1x Furnace - http://i.imgur.com/4g9lvTz.jpg
1x Stack dome - http://i.imgur.com/4tWXdEG.jpg
2x Angled platform - http://i.imgur.com/OrkSFrH.jpg
2x Octagon platform - http://i.imgur.com/K3kqVlY.jpg
2x Straight platform - http://i.imgur.com/slmseeJ.jpg

Edit: I originally thought that the Stack tower - http://i.imgur.com/JUTu4Ur.jpg did not seem to be included in this set. HBMC spotted a piece that comes from that sprue so I think it is safe to assume there is at least one in the set. That brings the sprue estimate to 11 which is an odd number to put in a box. I think there might be only one of the Straight platforms or perhaps as vegeta365 suggests only one of the Octagon platforms although I'm 99% certain there are two in that model pictured.

Okay. Given that the small terrain packs value the sprues at $25 USD each and the large ones were four sprues for $75 USD (buy three get one free) this new pack seems to be a stupendous value with 10 sprues at a $115 (or $11.50 per sprue).

Damn. There goes my Christmas budget.

Anyone see anything I missed?

I am looking at the picture in the magazine and I can't account for all of the sprues that you listed. Are there other photos out there of the Refinery?

Specifically:
* I only see 4 arch pieces in the pic. While it would be misleading of them to weight them to one side and not support the sides evenly, I only see 4 arches.
* Straight sprues - I don't see these in the pic anywhere. Where is this information gathered?
* Octagons - I technically cannot pick the flat sections out, but I do see the one cable section on the bottom left and can count 2 ladder pieces from that sprue, with any others possibly from the Arch sprue.
* I do see 4 flatter railing/barricade pieces, which appear one each on the Octagon and Angle sprues, but I would lean towards there being 4 angle sprues based on the positioning of the rails on the far side of the image.

I believe 2 xOctagons to serve as the areas where the Stack dome and furnace attach to each other and to the Angled platforms.

I'm not convinced on the straight sprues either. But it does appear to wrap around which would imply 4 x Angled sprues!

I do believe there's 2 arch sprues simply because there's no way the thing would hold up imho. the thing is even at 8 sprues it's a great value. I'm still betting on 10.

My bet is 4 x Angled, 2 x Octagon, 2 x Arch, 1 x Furnace, 1 x Stack Dome, 1 Stack Tower.

It does look like 4 angled, which would be awesome.

I'm thinking only one Arch. The sprue has 4 of them on there, and there's a picture in the WD of that from the side and it doesn't have another four on the other side.

At 10 or 11 it is still a fantastic deal, I just need to determine how much in debt I go for these.

From bob on War of Sigmar:

Hello everyone !!

Talk is ongoing about the new scenery !

Nothing new at 16h16 (uk time).

But some precision about the scenery incoming for christmas (ruins, plasma generator, plasma regulator).
They worked very hard on the modularity with the Mechanicus sector. So they are compatible, pipe are the same height, 2 panels cover to fix on the coursives, generators lot of stuff.

Tbh it's quite hard to retranscrit this discussion, they are very fun but it's a bit chaotic !

Q/A :

-An extra topper for the painting handle is planned i guess.
-All scenery box for 40k have rules and all older scenery will be update to 8th
-You can stack power pipe on top of each other.
-Dragondais is out of stock (i heard right ?

/cheers.

yes Dragonfate Dais has been out of production for a year now. So the inclusion in Ruins of Elixia is the only way to get it.

From another pic it looks like there is no back walkway... It appears the Angle walkways terminate at a railing.

So, my guess is -

1x Arches
1x Furnace
1x Stack dome
1x Stack tower
2x Angled platform
2x Octagon platform

I think you are correct. That explains why there are only two big skulls in the picture (only 2 angled sprues) and that picture shows that back edge much better. There are only 4 ladders in the pic and I thought they had weird placement, but they might be attached to the Octagon pieces along the outside of the furnace.
