I am at a loss trying to navigate the new codec. All the old keywords and appendixes are completely different.

If you're referring to combined infantry squads that's gone, though there's a Stratagem called Consolidate Squads (p.134) that lets you merge two infantry units at the cost of a Command Point.

Which you almost never want to use. Your squads will generally speaking be more effective separated, esp. now that IG's pseudo morale immunity was nerfed into the ground, pissed on and buried.

Holy Bejebdus, thats so bonkers.
90% of playing IG used to be getting hand cramps painting your massive infantry platoons. That was like their thing. What do they do now? Just use armor for everything? Automatically Appended Next Post: Or do they like, still swarm, just in seperate squads now?
The new moral rules seem to mean that you don't lose your whole squad when they flee, which is good.

You take a bunch of armour and use swarms of single squads to fill space around them so they don't get locked up in combat or alpha-struck out by Deep Strike units.

But yeah, the old days of a platoon as a single troops choice are gone.

Best advice I can give you OP is look up the new formations. A battalion is pretty much a platoon with how the new rules work. It's just now we get rewarded for taking them even more with command points and can mix and match the units inside.
Only thing is we can't combine squads, but with the way 8th works you would want to run them msu style anyways. It definitely is a pain having to move 12+ squads individually though
