That's my point. People think this AoS thing is going to be such a huge release. It's basically just a new starter box, a small amount of side boxes, a battletome, the new general's handbook, and maybe some cards and dice. All of which is probably coming in july minus the general's handbook.

That leaves June WIDE OPEN for all sorts of knight related things regardless.

This is sarcasm right? The aos release is a new core rulebook, a generals handbook, a new battletome with a massive number of new kits, at least 5 new kits for stormcast, a new magic supplement with accompanying minis, new plastic scenery, objective markers, and dice all CONFIRMED for June. There is probably a new starter set too.
Also GW is running in store aos painting competitions on the 9th of June.
Ministomp, a notable online retailer said there is no preorder on June 2nd. This is what normally happens the week before a new edition.
GW teased Knights early to give 40k people something to look forward to while all the aos stuff is happening.
GW also followed exactly the same release pattern for the very successful launch of 40k. I imagine they want to do the same again.

Most of those new kits are a part one ONE box. GW has a bad habit of releasing them exclusively in said box until much later. The NEW RULEBOOK is available for free and therefore is just the general's handbook. So congrats. That just blew you back down to what I said. GW isn't teasing knights 6 months ahead of time when they teased it alongside two other codices. The new "massive overhaul" of AoS isn't really as big as 8th edition for 40k. It's not going to need it's own private launch. Stop blowing things out of proportion.

Besides, there's nothing saying this won't spill into july instead of taking up all of June. If their 40k previews were something to go on, they still have a few more weeks until launch. They seem to like covering a good deal of the armies and changes before release. So expect some of it later on even if it's key to the new addition. Just take the Overlords, Death Watch, and Deepkin releases as examples of key units coming out multiple weeks later.

Dude, no. The new rulebook will be a full book with rules, background etc. And on top of that there will be a new general's handbook and a new magic supplement book (this is all what they've said on warcom). And even if half the models we've been shown are in the starter box that's still four to five boxes plus a handful of clampacks. And a new edition is still a new edition, even if it's not a massive overhaul like 7th => 8th I don't see how you can think this will be a small deal that's "not going to need it's own private launch".

Sir Hekhtur, a free blade, seems to be the named knight character!

Love the look of the spear.

Interesting art found in the banner, new Knight pattern?

Also, potential special character?

OH-I Wanna get out of here

The knight's weapon in the banner looks very similar to the Lascutter weapon on the Atropos. It does seem to be a "normal" knight otherwise outside of the face mask.

Hope it means upgrade bits for current IK

The livery does feature a wolf, this was mentioned in the rumours as being part of the special character's motif.

With the exception of the "spear" it looks like the existing plastic Knight. It could just be artistic license, but if its a sneaky model preview then either the third "new" Knight looks a heck of a lot like the Paladin frame or we are looking at some kind of upgrade kit(like the addition of the Warden sprue) or cross build with the new kit.

Really hoping it's not just added on to the existing chassis. Was hoping for a new one! Stiff legs does not make for a dynamic lancer.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

The face plate does seem to taper in at the top more than the one of a similar style that's included in the regular IK. The shield shape is also slightly different from the one on the Warden sprue.

Is it Sunday afternoon yet?

Bit of a long shot, but the kit could include a different sprue for the legs along with custom weaponry and whatnot.

The character is supposed to be an alternative build for the new knight that isn’t the Castellan.... looks like that kit will be heavily based on the existing knights

If they give me new legs that I can pose, I will be a happy man.

Indeed, the legs are the one thing that keep the Knight kit from being an awesome kit in my humble opinion. I love them, but the lack of out of the box posing with the legs is a bit of a missed opportunity.

Its certainly possible. GW have released "alternate" kits with different poses and weapons before. The first example that springs to mind are the regular and assault Terminators, although doing it with something as large as a IK would be a first IIRC. My personal wish list for this would be that the Canis Rex parts could be used with any of the large Knights and that the unseen new kit is a different frame from the known ones.

An upgrade frame that goes with any chassis would be aces indeed, but not something GW would sell on its own.

Definitely feeling a las-cutter weapon there. Probably not a graviton gun or a lightning cannon, though both would be welcomed in my mind.

Otherwise, looks like a standard Paladin frame with fist and stubber.

They are going to rerelease the current knight kit with another frame of weapons and stuff (for another £10) before Christmas.

Dunno, that just looks like existing 2D art distorted by badly applied pseudo-3D filter. Hence the unnatural flat look.

If you want posable legs for a knight, there is an ebay seller that has knight legs that are totally posable. Not too bad a price either, I think they were selling for $40.

That looks like the short range gun an Atropos carries. Interesting.

Well we know how GW likes to have their artists draw the minis, so there's a good chance that's what a new kit's going to be.

The art may have been done by a freelancer who hasn't done much work for GW before, the previous Knight codex certainly has its share of, IMHO, questionable art.

It has art where knights have legs in different positions. That's clearly inaccurate to the model.

Just a joke. It's not even really that hard to convert the legs of a knight. It's weird that a lot of people just keep the static pose. I won't argue with a nice laser weapon for my knights.Just personally waiting on the shapeways guy to come out with anubis heads for the mini knights.

I don't even field them like..ever..but I enjoy the models. New stuff and maybe better rules are a plus.
