The above, exactly.

GW knows they can 'edition up' and people will buy in. And as much as I'm enjoying the actual models on the table, all evidence I see makes 8th the biggest pile of convoluted rules yet. And somehow they managed to take a few pages of rules and drop six extra books on us. Now we're scrambling for Facebook posts and testing beta rules and getting hit with half written FAQs and paying for another rulebook. Points and rules all over the place, people citing emails for rules questions.

Like, yes 8th made the game simpler, but the overhead to play went absolutely sideways.

Maybe. Depends on the price and depends if I can find a Necron player to take that half.

If I can find a person to trade with I’ll get the Admech side.

If I can’t I’ll buy it and see the necrons on Evilbay.

I want the Armigers as I have hopes for a titan force that is worth something eventually. I think a pair of knights, with 4-6 armigers wandering the table causing problems, getting objectives is the army I think would be worth playing.

How likely is it that people will buy the 'other half', because when this hits ebay will be flooded with each half.

I'm a yes on this. Depending on price I may get a couple, I've no idea what I'll do with all of the Tech Priest Dominus' though, I already have 6 from SC boxes.

I always try local first to just set up a straight swap/split, but on eBay if the price is right they all tend to go pretty quickly. Those models are likely to be a bit below going rate by nature of the bulk kit and will probably be a hot commodity for a while.

I saw with eyes then young, and this is my testament.

Although I have a fleeting interest with both factions I don't have the hobby time to commit to them and they would sit forever unpainted and unassembled when I already have a big enough pile.

It's a no from me.

Adding to the grey pile is the most important aspect of the hobby.

I’d like too, but I do have most of the models, just not the new knights or cryptek. If it isn’t crazy expensive, I might just buy it - but may have to wait for funds to replenish.

first of, im cult mech!, i do not want the pathetic skitarii wimps in my elite ad mech army(even tough 3 wound elite armys is crap in this edition).
secondly i just bought a heap of used necrons so i have all i need, i just want the codex.
lastly, i like the old cryptec sculpt that i ordered yesterday in fact, alot better.

Why edition up every 3 to 4 years when you're already producing Chapter Approved for $25 to $35? You get in all the changes you need to make to core rules without all the other disruption. New codexes will still pop up as they expand the ranges.

I doubt they're lords of war.

Typically they give you a workable, battle forged detachment.

1 techpriest dominus

I would wager they're Elite.

The Necron force is HQ/Troop/Elite.

It also makes sense they'd be elite because of the nature of the supreme command detachment. So you could bring these with a knight and a few characters.

I voted maybe but i'm actually thinking i might get this and split it. Because I have an Imperial Knight, and I would love to be able to field a workable 1,000 point army with him in it.

Latest Warhammer Community article confirmed they are LOW units.

I voted no, simply because I'm not interested in Ad Mech and I already have all Lychguard, Immortals and Wraiths I could ever use. Only thing I'd be after is the new Cryptek, but highly likely that it will only be available in the box (at least for the first few months) so I'll probably get it off eBay.

There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.

Probably no, depending on price. I have Necrons and the included units for them are actually quite decent but it'll depend on price and whether I really want to get any of the AdMech stuff, as it's not a faction I currently play. Resale value will be quite low, so maybe I'll just take advantage of the cheap Crypteks that will appear on eBay once this comes out.

Great deal, and interesting models. I'll say "maybe" if they're still selling it once I move on from the other armies I need to build and paint.

If the pricetag is good I will most definitely. I'll add the Necrons to my small existing force and then cannibalize the Ad Mech for conversions while assembling the knights.

Regarding editioning up I'd say that the Chapter Approved is their new edition format. So instead of 8th and 9th edition I think we are now seeing Warhammer 40k 2018, Warhammer 40k 2019, and so on.

Just a heads up that while the Skitarii and Dominus won't be too high on the resale value, the Knight Armigers will likely be on the high end. I'm having a hard time, locally, finding anyone to split the box with as the Necron players feel they shouldn't pay half despite their stuff coming out to $113USD before adding in the Cryptek while AdMech comes out to $75 before the Armigers.

The Armigers are something people just don't know how to price it seems. Many people think they're a huge kit while in reality it seems like they're maybe Hive Tyrant sized.

Even if the Armiger kits arrive at a more reasonable price, say $45-50 a pop (reasonable for GW at least), you can expect to flip them for $40 a pop on eBay pretty easily.

I feel this is correct. I can't decide if I should buy 2 boxes, and slowly sell the stuff, or just wait and buy Armigers on ebay for $30-$40 each. I think a lot of flippers are going to buy this and sell the parts on ebay.

If i get lucky and they over produce, Maybe the Armigers will get into the $20-$25 mark on Ebay. If that happens I'll most likely try to get to a full 6 of them.

For me, it all depends on cost, rules and options.

Personally, I’m going to wait for a couple of unboxing reviews before I decide. I like the idea of the Knights, but, if they are single pose, have no options/future options (depends on datasheet) and costed way out of normal play/semi-competitive play.

Sure, I could make use of the Skitarii bits, but, overall won’t justify the potential £100 cost just for some admech torsos.

A Hive Tyrant is a $50 kit, the Cryptek is a small character model so will be $30, so... $140 for the Necrons and $175 for the AdMech. This is assuming you're right that it'll be priced as a Tyrant, while I think it'll be $65 like the Redemptor Dread (ergo, $205 value). Either way I think your local Necron players have a point; if what you want is the Necron half then I think buying the whole box and flipping the AdMech portion on eBay is much better value than splitting it 50/50.

I wont be getting it but am tempted by the mini knights. I want to see where they go with the Imperial Knight book.

I love the idea of a non-marine based starter box, and I have some admech, but I'll probably pass on this one. Domini are pretty bad as far as HQ choices go, and I already have mine, no need for more than the bare minimum. I don't care for the Skitarii troops, and I'm not a big fan of titans either.

I like admech when it focuses most on the weird and whacky body-horror-y stuff. You know, the stuff that sucks.

While i think it's nice to see a box set that isn't marine focused, these aren't factions that interest me personally, and i'm pretty tight on money at the moment anyhow, so... no.

Someday i would still love to see a completely non-imperial box set. Orks vs tau! Chaos demons against tyranids for some strange reason! Confused Dark Eldar trying to enslave necrons!

Well, you get the idea.

I depends. If my will breaks and I decide to build a Knight Household then probably - especially if the boxset on its own is close to the cost of 2 of the small knights.
