Voluntarily putting your Boyz on 32mm instead of 25mm is giving up two ranks of Boyz fighting. With 32mm bases two ranks can fight, with 25mm bases four ranks can fight.
Nobody in their right mind would make the switch, however I hear that there's going to be a base size chart for all factions meaning you MUST rebase (or get adapter rings for) your Boyz for matched play.
It's a huge nerf to Boyz. They need to compensate this somehow (more attacks, -ap, something?) or Orks are just going to wind up being trash. No wait, they are already trash to begin with so I guess nothing really changes.

Well if they attempt that then I just stop going to tournaments. I sure as hell am not going to damage my models and pay literally HUNDREDS of euro's for sake of rebasing(and no extenders/new bases is NOT the issue in terms of cost so don't try to mention...Even with those it would be ridiculously expensive. Literally 3 digit euro's and not even bare minimum). If somebody has issue with that in tournament that TFG can have auto win by default. Wasting time playing with him/her isn't going to be worth the time.
(or maybe I get temporal bases I can put them and then play reeeeeeeeeeeaaal slow moving carefully one by one premeasuring everything and ending game mid turn 2...Hey they want to remove my way to move fast eat the consequence.)

So moving on from one guy’s opinions based on a made-up word... the new vehicles look bloody great. I may have to budget for a Speed Freeks box! I don’t need another army but teenage me would kill me for not getting these!
Wonder if there’s more to come than speedsters and Codex or not?

Speed freak box set, codex, then 2 vehicles on their own and big guy on trike. Speed freak box vehicles will then come individually later. There's also rumoured 3 non-speed freak sets one which might be mek workshop so terrain ala knight terrain(hopefully bit better than that though...The knight terrain is literally so bad opponents will HAPPILY give one for free to you just in hopes you make the mistake of using it. Seriously that piece just might be THE worst unit GW has ever written. Can't recall any other unit ever that is not just inefficient but detrimental to your army).
This based on GW's release patterns and what we know. 4 different vehicles which look too different to be dual boxes so 4 kits. Speed freak box set contains 2 but GW generally doesn't release box set content new units instantly on their own as they benefit more from people buying those bix boxes than individually(let's say big box is 90e and vehicles were 30e per piece. GW obviously benefits more from you spending 90e for 2 vehicles than 60e. Rest of the content doesn't cost GW that much so they increase their profit line while giving players discount with warbikes and terrain but on sprues that are old for GW so have sold most of their life expectancy sales anyway so wouldn't be selling much anyway. This kind of unit is very good one for GW to put to boxes for discount value as it doesn't really drop their sales at full price while tempting players to spend more than they would have. And gives good PR as well with discount box. It's win-win strategy). See for example warglaives which came first in forge bane box, then came helverins on own and only later warglaives came out on their own. Expect that to be mirrored here as well.

"Approaches" isn't a made up word mate...
Its looking less and less likely we get anything other than Speed Freeks box, Warboss on Trike, eventual separate buggy release and the Mek workshop scenery previously rumoured.
We might get a new Ghaz. Maybe. I doubt we'll get any other new warboss given the recent focus on Grukk's model as our kill team commander and the link in the latest article to the old metal model warboss with big choppa.
Take it you don't collect Orks?

I somehow doubt the new Ghaz thing, since they old model constantly appears on new pictures that promote orks. For example, the picture on the ork section of GW's store has been switched out recently, with the new one showing old metal Ghaz.
7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

Unless they want to keep it super secret but reportedly pictures of new Ghazz doesn't show up in even a codex so that would be some super-hyper-mega secret release if it's coming in near future and DOESN'T feauture in codex...

Oh I used to. A great 2nd ed army I foolishly sold during university. My only fully-painted army ever! They’re always nagging at my mind to get into Orks again. These new models may just be the catalyst I need.
(And “Orktober” is a made-up word, and we’re all fully aware of your opinions on it now. Let the thread move on...)

You misunderstand what the leaker said here, they said they had no pictures of anything in their pre release codex so couldn't confirm one way or another if Ghaz had changed model-wise but his stats and abilities were still awesome, apparently.
Jidmah is correct, unless they are using the Ghaz model to represent something else in the future we aren't getting a new one, given its use online and in marketing.

"Orktober" is a pun of October no? The month we are currently in? If something happens as we approach that month surely it should happen before? Struggling to see the confusion here.
If you lot want the thread to move on, stop with the backhanded insults.
Guess you done fethed up selling that army. Still, now might be the perfect time to buy in again given the possible changes to Boys' bases that look like they're incoming.

Nah it was the right thing to do for me at the time and I kept my Morg’n’Thorg to Warboss conversion. A vehicle-heavy ork army appeals to me more than a horde so I’m keen to see rules to see if that’s viable. I have too many other horde armies already, and as we’re unlikely to see a new basic troops kit and I’m not a fan of the current one it’s all hinging on viability of a speed mob.
Excuse the digs, but know they were meant playfully and you’re treating apocalyptically. Again, let’s move on. Apologies if I poked you.

you can keep talking about the "talked to death" topic of "aasumptions of orktober" if you want. we have been mostly replying to you and other guys on this topic (cause guess what, when you make claims that we are being entitled or brattish then we are most likely going to call that out and defend ourselves). but at this point ill just avoid readin what you write (unless its actualy something else). dont expect a reply if you adress this post (i have realized you guys are impossible to reason with, and no amount of logic we can provide will get through to you).
on another note.
i like the names with the vigilus stuff.
Krooldakka
Speedwaaagh
i aprove of this new stuff. my only hope at this point is for there to be legitimately good lore put behind this new warboss and his waaagh (at least more then a few paragraphs). i remember the days of 7th with the "redwaaaagh" and that was a blast to read (though it ended on a miserable note with spacewolves and deamons hijacking the fight from the orks and guard). i wasnt in the hobby back when Armageddon was published, but whole entire campaign books dedicated to the conflicts (damocles was another good one) was great to get tons of detail and cool lore (this greatly changed with the coming of girlyman with everything being shrunken down in order to get to the big mahreens faster). my fear though is due to vigilus becoming the "every faction and the kitchen sink" type of conflict is that very few factions will get any real coverage and most likely it will focus from the point of view of the big blue spez mareen gits and their conflicts with bolter sponges (i expect maybe a page for each faction getting stomped until we find out it was chaos who was the real enemy).

Ah, a warboss after my own heart. It's all about Kult of Speed, mad max style Orks. Evil Sunz for life! Hopefully the Speedwaaagh(?) is viable, GW seem to be pushing the new models and usually we all know new models = good rules (though not always cough*Orkanaut*wheeze).
Re the Digs - comment wasn't aimed at you particularly but still - 'ma feels bro!'

You're half correct - they said "watch for more previews and model teases as Orktober approaches'. I must of missed em!
Jidmah wrote: Can you please stop flinging poo at each other on the subject of when Orktober should have started?
Yes. Fine. We'll stop. No more talk about Orktober and whether the community is at fault for expecting too much or GW are at fault for delivering too little. I think we all know where each other stand on this right now.
So we still have a number of models anticipated that we have yet to see -
*something, can't remember* Scrapjet.
Rukkatrukk Squig Buggies!
Mek Workshop
These all seem to be more or less confirmed.
I think we'll have a buggy set that makes 2 buggies, of which 1 is either the Kustom Boosta Blasta or Boomdakka(?) Snazzwagon (the molotov one) and the other buggy is either the Dragster or Sguig Buggy.
I think the Warboss on Trike set will also make the Scrapjet as an alternative build (because the back of the trike looks kinda jet-like).
Mek Workshop will be it's own piece.
Does anyone else think the article yesterday was reactionary to try and counter all the vexed Ork players/posters? It was posted quite late UK time and didn't seem to fit in to a normal release schedule of news to me.

The articles usually appear after I get home from work. It was there when I got home from work, so I don't think the schedule was off.
In fact, it was uploaded as the second one of four articles at the same time.
In general, I love the picture with the battlewagon in the middle. I never was a fan of a huge hordes, and if I can revive my battlewagon army by adding a bunch of buggies to it, I'd be a happy Warboss.

Yea the new picture was ace.
It also gave me a better idea of how the boss and the molotov buggy will look in my colour scheme, which was nice.
There was an ace picture from the Warhammer Community instagram as well apparently that I saw shared on facebook of the Boss on Trike, it looked really good.

Boyz were pretty good. Taking them to 32 is appropriate. There are multiple base converters (https://www.ebay.com/i/131844003105?chn=ps). And indeed matched play will require it.
It's one thing to not convert, because of the work and cost. It's another to not convert, because you want to be beardy.

or do what i did... the super lazy way, I literally glued 32mm bases under my existing bases. I spent a lot of time doign tunra /snowscape bases and did nto want to do that to several hundred models again. kinda cool, gives the step up base look, will one way add some crackle paste and drybrush to make it more of a snow hill look but for now it was good enough.

Pretty good as in trash. When killing 60 boyz a turn is nothing special it's hard to be good. If game goes 5 turns you will be looking at wipeout.
Hardly beardy to not self handicap when you are already joke army that needs desperate help to at least lose without wipeout nevermind winning

Boys depend on volume of attacks in a competitive setting. That volume of attacks has now halved. It's a huge nerf.
Every base converter I have ever seen and used has looked like a pile of dog gak compared to a properly completed base. They are garbage and they are a cost.
This all pales in comparison of course (I tend to play Ork Boyz only get 2 rows in combat because it makes sense to me anyway) in comparison to the time and effort to do this. That's the killer and not something that I'm willing to do personally. The amount of time I've spent basing those literally hundreds of Boys and 30-40 bikes is pretty obscene. I will not do it again.
Finally, at the moment there is no requirement for 32 size bases on Boys. They are currently sold on 25s. Until and unless GW release a basing document ala AOS there will be no need to do it for matched play. Unless tournaments put in their own rules to implement this for Boys there is no need to do it for tournaments either. If GW release a basing document for matched play I think I'll have to quit the hobby. I see no way I'll ever get the time to re-base all my figures and I like to play by the rules, regardless of how stupid they are.
