Disappointingly spendy for my liking. Might see if I can find someone who’s well into the yellow buggy to split it with me.

I think we can safely expect eBay to be awash with cheap warbikes in about two weeks’ time.

what is sad that the dcecision to discount the models and contents less than previous boxes will result in lower sales... lower sales will result in them saying look how much better imperium and chaos boxed sell and thus result in more of the same... #thenewGW #sameastheoldGW

How does this deal compare to previous deals, in terms of discounts?

Are the Orks the only ones who aren’t getting proper discounts? I wouldn’t be surprised.

We can’t know for sure what sort of discount off the full whack we’re getting without knowing how much the buggies would be. Also, this isn’t directly comparable with, say, Tooth and Claw since it’s a self-contained game, and only contains one faction. Plus some scenery and other bits and bobs.

Given this, I’m not sure it’s time to start implying there’s some sort of anti-Ork pricing conspiracy going on. Even if it’s a worse discount than other box sets, I think it’s much more likely they’re just experimenting with a different packaging/pricing model (admittedly, one I’m not a huge fan of) and seeing how the market reacts to it.

At that price point I think I'll be hitting up ebay for the new buggies. I don't place much stock in the game itself so the value proposition is only in the models for me. But I mean if they do overprice the buggies themselves they might make the box look like a steal!

I really want to like this box but it wholly depends on price. I don't need any more Warbikers but I'm slightly interested in the scenery and definitely interested in the vehicles but not at all interested in the game itself. I want to be persuaded by the price to pick up two or three copies, partly to help show GW that there's people out there who want Ork content.

Anyone know how long after Forgebane was out the Armigers were released by themselves? I'd like to be able to compare the price of the kits individually before deciding whether Speed Freeks is good value for me but I don't want to wait so long that I miss the chance to pick up some copies (if it's a limited-time-only thing?). Feels like a decent conundrum to have at least.

I'm getting it, even at $150. I will do so if I have to get a second job to pay for it (fiverr, anyone?)

In some way I'm glad they are not dirt cheap. If they were, everybody would be jumping on the ork squiggwaggon.

I'd even pay extra dollars to have them lower the points...

...wait a minute, are we talking buggies or mortgages? At this point, is there much difference?

Nah, I think we’d already established that though, given that it was explicitly stated to be coming after SFreeks

oof.

That most likely means the kits for the individual buggies will be at least 50$...if not 66$.

Looks like I'm going to be getting a lot less of this stuff than I had initially hoped with my commission money. I thought 350$ would be overkill to get one of everything!

Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

ok, there is still a deal here.
bikers cost 41usd right now.
2 sets of bikers leaves the rest of the box as 68usd for everything else.
they were never going to sell the new buggies for 30 a piece (that's the current price of the old buggies/wartracks and these new buggies are bigger, expect 40usd at least)
and there is orky terrain that at most might cost 30usd
my theoretical calculation puts the contents of the box at the cost of 192usd. so we are most likely saving around 40 dollars.
now getting more bikes is kinda meh for me, but i have people that i can sell those to, but i definitely want the new buggies and the terrain (and they might take longer to sell the terrain separately for the very fact that its likely not essential for the 40k proper).

how much were you guys hoping the discount would be? more then 40usd?

So around $230AUD. I was expecting it to be around the same cost as the other box sets that have come out (Forgebane, Wake the Dead etc)

I'm really, really on the fence about spending $150 on two buggies and six bikes, especially considering I don't think I'll play the actual Speed Freeks game more than a handful of times.

I'm steadily leaning towards yes, but that's a pretty soft yes. Those two buggies better be damn-well worth it.

I'm waffling as well (even though I was really gung ho this morning...go figure.)

What would totally suck is if I blow $150 and find out the buggies are overpriced on points....that would royally piss me off. At this point I'm going to wait for further leaks.

And this is why we don't pre-order things.

We can afford to wait until the codex comes out, to purchase Speed Freeks. There'll be plenty of copies.

The cynic in me says they are releasing Speed Freeks first so people will buy it for the new buggies before the codex comes along and proclaims the unit "trash" in the eyes of the meta.

No harm in waiting for the rules first. This box set won't be going anywhere anytime soon and eBay will be flooded with them for months afterwards either way so you lose nothing by waiting.

The rules for them were just leaked.

Funny that they leak *just* before the pre-orders and nothing else.

yeah, this sounds like GW is even more loose with the "orks are only bs5".

maybe a shot in the dark, but maybe they will make the flashgit wpns assault so they can use their snazguns with their full BS.

and maybe they will decreas the price of all our dakka. they didnt change the profile of the rokit on the dragsta but maybe it will be cheaper across the board.

Yes! If this transfers to gretchin, they might actually become good at shooting.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

yeah i noticed, would be awesome and possibly make the grot the new preferred horde unit for orks lol (if their pts stay the same).
but looking at these leaked pics...
they are black and white, so i suspect they are from a printout given to the playtesters, and thus everything we see is up for change. maybe the grot blasta strength was a typo.

80 pts for such rules seem to be somewhere between Still ok and Too much.

I mean, yeah, their damage output seems nice but durability is not. Besides they have huge bases and no fly keyword. This alone makes cc and movement worse and they loose a lot of utility from the get go.

Nice models but the rules don't jump at me as "worth it over more boyz or tankbustas in a trukk".

At 80 points I'd take a Kustom Boosta-blasta in a heartbeat. It's just solid overall, good potential on the rivet kannon and the exhausts are pretty good up close. Potential for mortal wounds on the charge is nothing to scoff at. All the buggies are somewhat durable, they can't take true anti tank guns but they'll stand up pretty well to a lot of small arms fire.

Helverins will melt through all the buggies though

I'm still trying to rack my brain as to how trukkboyz kan be good again though. I seem to remember having read that someone who listened to the french youtube video said they weren't bad with the new codex.

If normal boyz get +1 to hit rolls in a trukk and can fire overwatch when the trukk is charged maybe? Or they can fire their guns in CC even if they're not pistols while embarked on te trukk

that is always the issue with orks though, currently the only reason our ork work as green tide is all those anti knight anti tank weapons get wasted on a 6 point boy. I am not saying these are going to be bad, but sprinkling a few buggies into a green tide army is just asking for a bad time. I am hopeful that a mec ork army may be good, but i doubt with our armor still being rather weak and no signs of invulnerable saves. I was hopeful that a big mek on a bioke with kff (I have modeled 2) might make that be viable but if other codexes are an indication as GW does not make the model it will nto be in the codex, will still be in the index so I guess I'll have the option, but I am doubting it will carry over to 9th. maybe kff in the codex will go back to working in a vehicle though, kff in BW with cannons sounds fun. big mek rolling dakka fortress.

I love the idea of killing people with a molotov cocktail. I would love to use a good deal of these in an army so here is hoping their point values are appropriate.

Latest preview is very welcomed; the "Billowing Exhaust Clouds" is a nice stratagem, and a fun throwback to ed3 bikers - but, without the ability to be used multiple times a round; I question how effective it'll end up being.

If Ork vehicles are as cheap as we're hoping you're spending a CP to give ~120 points a -1 to hit.

Which, don't get me wrong, is fantastic, and I'll gladly - but, it appears it can only be used for SPEED FREEKS; which is buggy class vehicles? Since it's not EVIL SUNS instead.

My pessimism knows know bounds.

But what I do know is, Orks are finally getting things! And damn fluffy things they are.

It would appear vehicles aren't more prone to exploding, just because you're an Ork. Really hoping for a stratagem that lets you blow up your own units, instead of having to make the roll.
