Timing... I've been working my way through Rebels for the first time while waiting for the end of Clone Wars, and the episode I was up to immediately after the finale was Ahsoka's reunion with Rex.

I'm happy with that ending. We know what happens next with the galaxy, and all that's really left to tell is how Ahsoka came to be 'Fulcrum' for the burgeoning Rebel Alliance, and how Wolf and Gregor ended up with Rex.
You may regret that decision...
Three or four episodes in, and you can tell it’s aimed at a younger demographic. But overall it’s fairly enjoyable Automatically Appended Next Post: Really quite enjoying it now.
Not a big fan of cel shading, but the voice acting is top notch.

Good job on the final episode. I'm happy.
Despite the awesomeness of it, I feel that the 3rd episode was slightly better, but the way things worked out and that ending... wow... who'd have imagined that?
Mind you, if you see the final arc as a movie that bookends the whole thing, the final episode is just tying up that movie in a most satisfactory way.
"I didn't much like being a commander, anyway."
Indeed. Well played.

Your bar is indeed lower than the final round tie break in the world limbo championship. Automatically Appended Next Post: I want a poster of that final shot of Vader reflected in the cracked Clone Trooper helmet.

Just binged it in 2 days. Bad Batch arc, painfully 'toyetique' like the first season or two of rebels. Ahsoka Tano spice smuggler - meh. I know I thought that's where we would just leave her off. Final arc - Damn. I am tired of Mandalorians in Clone Wars, but this was just awesome. I wish they'd spent the whole season retelling Revenge of Sith. I think they made the right call not showing the various Jedi deaths though. When Revenge came out they didn't really matter because most of the Jedi didn't have names or stories, but after 7 seasons of Clone Wars (plus the original series, comics etc) the deaths have become a lot more powerful. Now, what would it take for a Dark Times series? Please?

The Bad Batch arc is strange because it has a really strong (and exceptionally well animated) first part, and then just kinda falls into meandering nonsense. Any sense of tension with Echo and whether he is loyal is resolved almost immediately, and the characterisation of the heavy and sniper are just so cliche as to be exasperating, as is the sudden rivalry they develop in the arc's final episode. And they're getting a whole series about them? I don't think I could stand episode after episode of the big guy screaming and charging a bunch of robots armed with guns so he can beat them up with his fists. The only thing it has going for it is the timeframe it's set in - post Clone Wars. But chances are they'll wiggle their way out of that and have all of them be immune to Order 66 so they can keep fighting the newly-emerging Empire. Kid_Kyoto wrote:Ahsoka Tano spice smuggler - meh. That entire arc was a complete waste of rendering time, IMO. Kid_Kyoto wrote:Final arc - Damn. I am tired of Mandalorians in Clone Wars, but this was just awesome. I wish they'd spent the whole season retelling Revenge of Sith.
Thankfully this redeemed the final season of Clone Wars. Yes, there were some points that stretched credulity (and entire hangar bay of Clone Troopers unloading on Ahsoka and Rex, missing every shot), but other than that it was very well put together with a super cool ending.

I'm willing to entertain a theory that it is a stealth 'Dark Times' series. Use the utterly cliched tough guy team as the hook but really use it to tell the story of the rise of the Empire and the Jedi hunt.
At least that's my hope.

The marketing blurb for it mentions them taking on mercenary missions and looking for a 'new purpose' ... so either they've resisted Order 66 (there was some suggestion that as 'rejects' they might not have functional obedience chips) and left the army, or they've been let go when the switch from Clones to Storm Troopers kicked in. Or they took part in Order 66, but then started questioning stuff afterwards and left...
Yes, there were some points that stretched credulity (and entire hangar bay of Clone Troopers unloading on Ahsoka and Rex, missing every shot),...
That sort of thing was certainly not unique to the finale, though... there were plenty of episodes that had battle scenes with both sides just standing twenty feet from each other shooting madly. The 'Unfinished Business' episode at the start of series 7 with Mace and Obi Wan facing off against a droid army was a particularly silly example of this in action.
That and the bendy armour plates are my only real complaints, though... this series was an awful lot of fun, and that finale was just brilliant.

Random Mando question, so when did it become 'the way' not to take off a helmet? Cause the Mandos in Clone Wars and Rebels take them off all the time.

Yeah, the likely theories are that it's a new idea that was implemented post Clone Wars, or that the particular group of Mandos seen in the Mandalorian series are strictly following an ancient way that was largely discarded in the settings that we've seen previously, but has been readopted now that their race is endangered, as a way of preserving their heritage.
I expect that Filoni will explain it for reals somewhere along the line.

Seriously, it feels like Sabine and her family can't keep one on for more than a minute or two at a time.
And it feels weird that the cartoon characters have more facial recognition than real actors (who as actual people in a profession, generally want to be recognized on sight, and tend to fight being 'faceless' even in scripts where it makes sense).
In Mando it feels like a backwards nod towards 'Boba the Divine' (He of the Fan Devotion) with no other real basis.
Personally, it was a drag on Mando for me. A weird cult-like quirk aimed at the audience, much like the worst aspects of the Jedi obsession.
In universe it seems like an amazing inconvenience (to the point of not being able to eat if other people might be around), with some really nasty potential hygiene issues and a strong dose of 'why the hell would it matter?.' since a big chunk of them are war or disaster orphans that no one else cares about anyway.

It does somewhat add the to mystique that they're obviously trying to build back up around the Mandalorian warriors... You never see their faces, you never see them eat or sleep, you never see more than one of them out and about, so you have no idea how many of them there actually are. Given that they're essentially refugees with nothing to trade but their own reputations of badassness, it makes some amount of sense. It's just the fact that it's at odds with previously established lore that causes the head scratching.
