Thanks guys- and now with those done, here's the full army shot I promised, about 4200pts worth.

I am exalting you so hard right now

Truly a swarm to be proud of, and so much variety as well. Special shout-out for your Hive Tyrant, probably the best tyrant sculpt GW/FW ever made in all her alien queen glory. I forgot she was leading all these coconut crabs, great to see her again.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. It's been a labor of love. And yeah, I love that FW Tyrant sculpt to bits.

I actually magnetized and painted up the wings for it, and they're pretty impressive IMO- but as I have no other flying critters in the army, they feel a bit out of place at the moment.

If Shrikes come back to go with the new flying Prime, that'll certainly be changing.

I can only do the same. The army looks absolutely fantastic and the display board looks so good.

Been a little while, mostly focused on more Battletech stuff. I finally got around to taking some pictures, now trying to get the hang of a new phone.

Stumbled upon this thread, and 18 pages later I must say all your projects look absolutely amazing!!

Great job on everything from the traitor guard, Death Corps. all the way to the AdMech, Nids (the Welcome to Paradise display board is quite wonderful), and the printed Battletech.

Looking forward to more!

Cheers

That full army shot looks so good! Such a great colour scheme and seeing all your nids together, it really works a treat. Your Mechanicum are coming along beautiful as well. Looking forward to seeing more!

A long-overdue update; it's taken me a lot longer than anticipated to paint a unit of Ironguts.

I improved the skin significantly by tweaking the recipe, but it also became apparent that this sequence really needs a bit of blending to smooth out the layers. So some areas where I did a bit of quick glazing look better than areas where I just layered. I also did some more experimentation with brass, adding in some darker washes for the more heavily corroded areas, and I think it's looking a little more realistic.

my apologies for necromancy - I was hoping you could remember how you did the right arms on the musician and standard bearer. Particularly the right arm for the standard. I’m struggling to understand where that piece is from.

Thank you if you can give any answers. I tried browsing a few pages of comments but didn’t find anything.

Not only have I never seen your Tyranids before in all their glory, they look amazing!

Also now I want to know the skin recipe as well. Mine changes so often it's all over the place.

Looks like an arm from the Mournfang riders (bottom left):

I'm less sure about the bellower's club arm tho ...

Oof, it's been a while since I checked this thread. Truth be told, I assembled those Ogres so long ago that I don't remember exactly where all the bits came from, but a mix of the original Bull/Irongut/Leadbelcher plastics with the somewhat newer Mournfang ones sounds about right.

On the subject of Ogres, I recently got pulled into The Old World and made the somewhat painful decision to rebase back to squares for the Bulls and Ironguts I'd already finished. Rebasing at least was fairly straightforward, though I also decided to pull the second standard from the Bulls and replace it with a normal Ironfist. I then got to work on a few more additions.

Some of the recipes are evolving as I go, but I'm making a point not to go back and repaint older models just because I changed a few things. We'll see how it goes.
