That looks great! Love the addition of the Emperor Titan head, I wasn't a fan of the ones that come with the kit so I may have to do something similar when I ineviatably buy the model for my own collection.

There's some nice ones on thingiverse, that's where I found that one.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Yeah I've just started dipping my toes into 3D printing, it really does open up a whole new world of possibilities!

Grimdark terrain, the lazy forger, artisans of vaul, miffles makes stuff and wargameforge all have great files. Especially for making bases on titans look unique.

Getting back into it with the Maniple boxed set and a Warmaster on order.

Hopefully it’ll arrive fairly soon. Though I do need to dig out my magnets.

Nice! Suggest picking up some A4 sized magnetic sheets for the terminals, unless you plan on getting the card stock ones.

Speaking of magnets...

Does the Warmaster use the same ones as the Warlord? I could do with more, so might as well shop smart (but not S-Mart, as that doesn’t exist over here!)

Apparently the holes for the Warmaster arms are 6x2 and not 5x1.

The arms have pre cut 6×2mm holes in the same place you’d find them on a Warlord. The missile launcher literally just drops in, no need for a magnet, though you could add one if you wanted.
The AA guns/mortars are all pre-cut for 3×1mm magnets as well, and you get four of each in the set for maximum customisation.
The shoulder/bicep guns don’t have pre cut holes at all. I drilled the mounts out to 4mm but you could just as easily make 3mm fit and put 2mm in the actual weapons.
If you want to make the knee guns swappable, you’ll need to find a way to make the shin plate detachable too, because the lascannon are a through-mount from the back of the plate.
The other point defence weapons don’t have any options so I didn’t even think about those.

Also almost done my arachnus spiders. Tried some new stuff out on this one, basically that cool new necron paint, made it like some industrial ooze coming out of the pipes. Also added a little car and oil drum for scale. Still gotta clean it up a bit and do some more basing stuff.

Spoiler:

Wow! Where did the spider miniature come from can I ask?

Many thanks! It certainly looks cool. AT as a kind of Pacific Rim isn't something I had considered before, but definitely think it works!

Hello, I had the intention of spending the week on assembling/painting Cursed City, but then the mailman rang...

Had to move some scenery around to find room on my shelf... Some adjustments are in order:

There's rules for some beasts in the doom of molech book, I think they're part of a scenario for knights but easy to port. I think they say like aprox 40mm base size so they may not be a big threat to titans even if you change the rules and have them attack titans too. There's a scenario in crucible of retribution where you place a bunch of beast nests that attack people who get to close, in the molech one I think they come out of the nests if stirred by knights and just b-line towards the closest unit.

Me and my buddy whipped this up a while back, basically 6 random types of beasties from not to scary to really scary. Basic idea is you put down whatever model feels appropriate for what you roll. Could plonk down a necron thing or a little ork stompa on a 40-50mm.

Dammit. Jonesing for my Titans to be dispatched from GW.

I’ll have my hobby/gaming room all setup a week on Saturday, so hopefully they’ll arrive in good time. I gots painting to do!

Been messing around with a 3D printer the last week or so, really opens up a whole lot of possibilities for this game!

Still ironing out the kinks and all the tricks to get the perfect print but fortunately any little miscasts on the titan can just be painted up as some battle damage.

Now all I need is some rules for a three legged titan...

Shipping confirmation has come through! Hopefully I’ll have my big boys today or tomorrow.

I’ll be reading the Loyalist Book tonight, see if I can settle on a Legio.

If you can't find one that you like, you can always make your own custom legio rules from the ryza book. That or just make up your own scheme and just play as an existing legio. I'd actually recommend checking out the wargear section at the back, reason being its one of the biggest changes in the book, before you could only by wargear available to your legio, now there's universal wargear any legio good or bad can take in addition to some loyalist only wargear still available to all loyalist factions. Before that it was tough because some legios didn't even have special wargear, just a stratagem that might work in a similar fashion to wargear (assign it to titan turn one generally).

An idea I toyed with recently--because it took me so long to settle on a Legio--was to paint the models in a camouflage scheme, e.g. for ash wastes or desert world, like they did in the Epic 40K days. Then one shoulder pad or plate could bear the Legio's specific colours, like the shoulder pad of a Techmarine or Librarian showing his Chapter. You could paint several plates and swap them whenever you wanted to try a new Legio.

It would be a little tricky to arrange for the Warhounds though...

The trouble with AT (#firstworldproblems ahoy) is that there are so many Legios that you might not find the one that really suits your playstyle until you've tried lots of games.

Yeah that's why the custom legio rules are so great, you can really make a legion with a playstyle you like.

Bah, didn’t arrive yesterday.

Still, we’ve got a long weekend here in the U.K., so I’ve certainly got time to be hobbying.

The old depression has also been rearing its head, so hopefully some hobby will distract the weasels long enough. Also got the Silent King to paint, which was a Christmas present from my girlfriend. Haven’t been able to crack on due to lack of Grey Seer spray, which has now been rectified.

Oh joy, oh rapture!!!

Shall dig out the blutak later, as a stand-in for magnets until I find them or reorder.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, going over the data terminal and book entry for the Warmaster, it seems the shoulder weapons needn’t be a matched pair?

So I could, for example, have a Turbo Laser for hitting Titans, and an Inferno Cannon to get Knights off my back?

I see your fancy 3D-printed train sets and raise you a cheap windup Chinese toy!

Found mine in a discount variety shop for $5 AUD. (For comparison, just one base for a Reaver Titan costs $7 AUD from GW.) Came with enough track to make an oval layout. The engine is nicely chunky and AdMechy--just needs the cow-catcher removed and the big wheels concealed with side plates. I'll put side plates on the cars as well.

NB: This toy does indeed have a 'Wide Range of Selection'. There are about a dozen different packaging versions online, with various types of cars. I got one with a flatbed ore carriage and a fuel tank. The cars are just snap-fit and can be easily taken apart if you want to add your own freight.

Also found some cylindrical plastic dropper bottles in the same shop--silos!--plus packs of thin wooden rectangles ideal for basing industrial terrain. Walked out with enough to make a decent little refinery complex for peanuts. And it cost peanuts, too. (I'm here all week folks.)

Raah, progress!

Flagellum Dei, the Scourge of God, joins the ranks of the Ashen Gods this day.

Nomen est omen and so on, the tasty irony in the naming being that though the Great Crusade was a secular endeavour, Legio Favilla was most often unleashed only after peaceful negotiations had been rebuffed and a complete eradication of opposing civilizations was requested. Thus, like a divine retribution of whatever deities they might have bowed to, did the resisting planets bring on themselves their doom until only ashes remained.

A bit of freehand training this time, couldn't find suitable transfers so I just painted the whip then

As ever, click 'em bigger.

Been building my Warmaster Titan. And he is a proper choncc!

Overall, a very satisfying build. They’ve certainly put more thought into the construction of the legs, as unless you’re going for reposing, it’s pretty much impossible to go wrong. And reposing shouldn’t require a whole lot of work either.

Looking at the construction of the armpit weapons, I don’t think I’m going to worry about magnetising, as good old blutak will do the same job for an absolute fraction of the bother. Should just be clipping off the peg, and putting the blutak into the slot.
