I'd love another warp smith. I hope they tone down the crazy on the figures and keep them generic (as CSM). Would love a much more HH styled generic approach to the CSM kits. I doubt it'll happen, but I'd like to be wrong!

I'm loving that they are broadening their horizons and releasing one-off or new theme models regularly now... I don't know how long it's going to take since they've been getting it intensely right (imho) for years now, but I remain shocked at the monumental turnaround GW has pulled off since the 'dark days'.

It's also the perfect way to expand 40K armies in meaningful ways without launching a new codex with the requisite number of releases.

Good Guys: Rogue Trader, Kroot, Eldar Ranger, 5 various henchmen, Giant Robot Dude.
As these two side are supposed to be equal-ish, I have to wonder how powerful the Robot Guy is to balance things. A Rogue Trader is good, but not Chaos Lord good. The rest of the henchmen would be about as good as the cultists and Negavolts. That means the Robot Guy is about equal to two Chaos Marines, an Ur-Ghul, the drones, and needs to pick up the slack from the Rogue Trader/Chaos Lord fight.
This is a co- op dungeon crawler. There is no reason to assume the forces will be equal size. In fact there should be a ton more adversaries than characters, as it won't always be the same adversaries in each mission.
They definitely won’t be equal.
As starfarer says, you’ll be picking certain models each mission to play against, well the game will.
I’d imagine the Chaos Champion could also just be the last story scenario that he’s in too..

Just the perfect way to expand 40k.
Chaos has needed a ‘chaffe’ army for a long, long time. They exist in the background, but in the game it’s always The Big Boys coming out to play, with some sacrificial prawns.
But we know Cults and Renegades are the true threat of Chaos. The one that prevents The Imperium from being able to turn its back for even a second.
Let’s get that on the board, yeah?

So one of the criticisms of Silver Tower was that the two sprues for the minions was really just one and a copy. Do we think that perhaps the sprues for this games baddies are completely unique?
And also, for my money, the chaos marines are Emperor’s Children.

From what's been said by GW proper, this is something we should regard as akin to Deathwatch Overkill or Silver Tower: a 'preview' of what's to come, with multipart sprues coming later.
And also, for my money, the chaos marines are Emperor’s Children.

I think Kanlunwen is spot-on with the Warpsmith idea. Makes sense for one of those guys to explore ancient technology and bring along a score of dark mech cultists.
Abaddon would be too big of a calibre for the scale of this game. Contrary to Abaddon, a Warpsmith ist manageable for a group of andventurers.

For example in Silver Tower, there are forty-four adversary miniatures, and seven for the heroes.

The Drones definitely had me more excited for an original concept than just more generic galactic villains. Generic Chaos being the 'big baddies' in everything Games Workshop does (for the most part) is a little tiring.
However, I concede that the Chaos Marines definitely need a face lift, and perhaps the box wouldn't sell nearly as well if the main antagonists were a new race of cybernetic critters instead of Chaos.

No and I doubt it very much. If they were to do emperor's children, they'd be more than dudes with bolters and boss with hammer/staff thing.
Fluffwise... it's a hard sell to get a storyline where the EC have a real interest in something like this (beyond a generic power is power so why not?). On the other hand, Iron Warriors or Black Legion- right in their wheelhouse, especially with Dark Mech representatives wandering about. Alpha Legion too, but for different reasons.
Completely unique models for footsoldier foes just isn't reasonable. For drones/cultists/negavolts (there seem to be quite a few in that 'throne room'), it makes more financial/production sense to simply replicate a sprue once or twice.

Maybe. Maybe not. The silhouettes of the CSM are rather plain, so it really could be any legion. Or even Red Corsairs. The hammer doesn’t necessarily indicate IW or BL. EC has got hammer wielding precedent with Eidolon. But I’m not privy to any inside info and am just conjecturing given what’s probably following in the release schedule.
Regardless I’m stoked for this release!!!!

First they lulled us into a false sense of security with the excellent but somewhat expected RT and his Kroot pal. But then its BLAM! have some Old one/pre fall Eldar drone thingy. Then while we are still reeling from that they hit us with Dark Mechanicus? I'm almost afraid for any more reveals after this. They are either going to feel underwhelming in comparison to the last two days, or so amazing I'll spend the weekend looking like the Orkmoticon.
I like the way the video sets up the Chaos forces as an opposing group of explorers. It would be cool to have rules for a game from there perspective, with there own heros and mostly Imperial hostiles.

I kinda hope this game includes some nice marbled blackstone dice. Quality ones like the kind from adeptus titanicus.
The dark mechanicus model was meh on first glance but I do like him. All I saw was a ton of cables and bits that would end up getting damaged.

With this and Rogue Trader you would have a nice starter for a Lost and The Damned Chaos force. Supoort it with a few Imperial Guard tanks, daemonforge vehicles, cultists and other allied Chaos stuff and there's a nice selection to chose form.

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting they were IW or BL. Just that those legions would make more sense than EC from a story perspective with a Blackstone Fortress. The marine images are entirely generic, but they're so generic Emperor's Children seems even more unlikely, as this would be an opportunity to do their special weapons and exotic touches, not just random chaos marine #37.
A warband works too, but after the 6e/7e bland chaos codexes, my taste for random renegades is still low.

Do you mean this quote?
The Imperium is not alone in seeking to stake a claim on the Blackstone Fortress – in its dark halls and vaulting caverns, the rot of Chaos permeates the stifling atmosphere. See which sinister foes you can spot in our latest teaser…
Nothing points to Slaanesh. Also worth mentioning that the "Slaanesh symbol" is purportedly on the torso for the middle figure in this group:
It honestly doesn't look like the Slaanesh symbol. It looks like it's a clasp/buckle for some kind of ragged cloth the guy has attached to his chest plate.
