Im not so sure anyone will die in this. I think marvel has prooven they can keep the drama and danger going without needing to kill heroes (unlike dc ::cough superman cough:: ). I think there isna fair chance everyone walks away from this alive with some much more scarred by the experience then others.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I mean, folk are pretty sure Cap is going to die more because of what's been going on outside of the plot than in it. Evans' contract is up, so given how physically demanding the role is and how high his profile is now thanks to the MCU, they would have to pay him a literal fortune to keep him around and the people in charge might see that as unnecessary given how much success they've had plucking actors from relative obscurity(either newbies or old hands fallen into a slump) for - comparatively- chump change.
Then there's the comments he made on Endgame wrapping which have since been kinda-sorta walked back a bit and danced around.
It might all be manipulation of course, to keep people off-balance for whatever the actual resolution is, but I'll be going in with the expectation that either Cap or Tony or both will be done for, with an option open for saying goodbye to Widow and Clint as well, on top of all the non-Snap deaths from Infinity War being left as they are. If they then manage to tell a compelling tale where most or all of those folk survive, I can be pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed that the ones I wanted to live didn't. They damn well better not off Thor though, Ragnarok finally found the right "place" and tone for the character and I want more of that.

It's possible that Tony, Steve, etc retire rather than die - let them go off into the sunset and bring in the new heroes. Chris Evans might be up for the odd cameo if it's only a day's work once every couple of years.

I can see Stark falling into more of a 'Charlie out of Charlie's Angels' role. Not actively participating, but continuing to fund, train and support the next generation of heroes.
That leaves him open to Cameos, and more in-depth roles should RDJ fancy it. It also means Iron Man can continue, as they've done in the comics.
Cap? Well, who knows. I don't think they've yet dug into his increased life span due to slower ageing? Could make for an interesting 'thirty years from now' type film, where we see a barely aged Cap dealing with the loss of his team mates, either through action or old age - repeating the same loss of Peggy?

I don’t think they kill Stark and Rogers both, but I bet one of them bites it. Probably Steve. I can’t see him surviving and doing a Fury cameo thing, he’s too proactive. I wish Stark had a more established successor for the Iron Man job to take over for him.

What if steve gets to go back to 44/45 or whatever and stay with peggy. He marries her. They live their lives. And steve dies an old man, the person peggy married and then forgot when the alzhiemers settles in.
Cap gets his dance with his best girl and they get their happy ending they always deserved.

I really want to know what (if anything, considering Guardians 3 is up in the air right now) they're gonna do about Gamora ... as she was pre-snap (like Loki, Heimdall and Vision? Was Vision really pre-snap? Need to rewatch ... again...). I guess I could imagine Loki and Heimdall "skipping" EG, but not really being dead?

Pre and/or post snap is meaningless. Several Disney Plus mini series have been announced for the end of the year that have characters both pre and post snap.
Its a basis for nothing.

Gamora is essentially a test snap, so she could go either.
I've been suspecting they'll give Cap a happy end with Peggy as well. I see this movie as more of a celebration of the franchise akin to Return of the Jedi. No one dies, bad guy loses and the Ewoks sing at the end.

The mcu has never gone backwards except to place another building block to go forwards. I.e. cap america 1 so they could bring him forward and place the cosmic cube in circulation.
What would be the point of disney plus prequel serieses?
In the comic nebula was the one who got the gauntlet and fethed up thanos for a bit.
I could see nebula undo the snap, taking gamoras place in the soul gem so gamora could live again. Thanos ends up with the soul gem and nebula taking on the death role. Thanos always trying to appease her and nebula always ignoring him and spuring his advances.
Thanos, thus incapable of ever having all the gems again, is defeated.

I actually hope its just steve alone his job done. Just quits being a super hero and joins up with peggys niece. While it would be cool to see him in 44/45. He still has a lot of value compared to Downey is basically completely done.

Ok, so I think we can have our cake and eat it.
Rogers goes back in time to be with Peggy and gets his happy ending. However, thanks to his reduced ageing, we consequently have Old Man Cap in the modern day instead of Capcicle, and while still relatively vital, his age means his role is diminished to a minor one in future movies.

Thanks Mysterio. I bought some Guardians comics this year but TBH couldn't really get into them - despite them being my favourite MCU characters.
Aside: I've never been into "Superhero" comics ... Much prefer stuff like 2000AD, East of West, Lazarus, Fables ... one-offs like Wake, Death, that kind of thing ...

It wouldn't be done the same way it was done in the comics. One of the MCU's biggest strengths is the ability to take a nugget of a reference and reshape entire characters around bigger ideas to build up to that moment. If Nebula was to take Gamora's place, it would be tied to the characters and how we got there in the films. Namely, Gamora being stuck in the soul gem because Thanos had to sacrifice his most precious thing, and Nebula wanting to be the favored daughter.

I do expect Steve Rogers will die. He's not the kind of person who even could just "retire", as the whole basis of his character is that he is someone who can't stand idly by while bad people are doing bad things. Stark could certainly retire as Iron Man, but he would still be what he is when you take away the suit: "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist".

I didnt say anything about what you need to know. Dont put words in my mouth.
The marvel movies have followed basic concepts and over all arcs from comic storylines. Tony being poisoned by his chest doo dad and acting out while getting rhodey to take the armor was like tony faking his death because of his alcoholism and getting rodey to take over from demon in a bottle.
Nebula is still alive. Nebula hates thanos, has no goals or loved ones besides gamora and making thanos pay. Where can her story end without some poetic justice to thanos and giving gamora back her life?
You cant see nebulas story following that path from guardians 1 - iw?

@LunarSol: I get Nebula - always have done - but how do we know Gamora's "stuck" in the soul gem? Honestly, I'm rewatching IW as I type, and Thanos just chucked her off the cliff ... is there something later that I've missed before?
Also: @ Lance: sorry ... that was a bit brusque ... I have no beef with you ... I'm just trying to understand as much as I can about my favourite films in the past few years ...

That is a little bit of comic stuff that you can infer from the movie.
1) movie. She was specifically sacrificed.
2) movie. She for sure died.
3) comic. The soul gem has traditionally claimed souls. Like full on they dont get to move on to any afterlife their souls are forever in the soul gem.
Theres just nowhere else for gamoras soul to go.
Also, not mad. Everythings cool. Were fine. Just chatting about dumb movies and comics and gak.
What we DID get from the movie is that tje soul gem requires a sacrifice to understand what your doing. Nebula COULD sacrifice herself specifically to undo what thanos did. At which point the soul gem could swap them.

I do really like the idea of Cap going back in time, "retiring" with Peggy and that being who she married.
So Cap would be in sort of a time-loop that he can't interfere with (and that's why he is able to "sit idly by") for risk of changing the hard-fought outcome.

If you pay attention to the environment that surrounds Thanos and Gamora in the scene post snap, it's a diffuse orange, which incedentally is the same colour as the soul gem.
Inferring from that bit of information alone, we can probably safely assume she's trapped within and it's how Thanos is able to meet and speak with her, since he possesses the soul gem.

Agreed. What was most interesting to me was when everyone had thanos all bound up and spidy/stark were pulling the glove off, strange is JUST off screen and hes not saying gak. He never interfers with starlords freak out. He never speaks out to tony or spidy. He plays his part the entire time and lets it all unfold.
Stark may have needed to be there with nebula. Maybe his role now is just getting her to earth. This is the end game, but the only person who knew how it could play out was strange.
