Your plague marines look amazing. I like the alternate color scheme, it's very striking.

Great work on the painting too!

Yeah, tell me about it! they’d be nasty combined with your pony’s being a torpedo ahead of them!
Flapjack wrote:Your plague marines look amazing. I like the alternate color scheme, it's very striking.

Thanks Flapjack, I really appreciate it. They’ve been super fun and relatively quick to paint up and still look good on the tabletop!

I have a couple more games to write up, all defeats, so the motivation is less . That’s not massively slowed my painting though as I’ve been working through a block of 20 Poxwalkers. Here’s a pic from a while ago showing the different skin tones

They really do take Comtrast paints well! I’ve now got about 80 of them built and converted with tentative plans to get to at least 120 so I can field a full compliment under their detachment. Not because I think it’ll be effective, but it should be fun (as long as I print some movement trays for them!

I’ve now got them to a similar position to the Blightlords with all of their metalwork rusted up. I then batch Verdigris upped the copper on both units before getting some yellow on their bases before calling it a night

For the FLGS’ slow grow I need them done bothbefore the end of the month. Normally I think that would be doable but next weekend I’m heading to Warhammer World with some of the Kill Team group from work. Sadly we can’t play there as we didn’t check the events and there’s one running all weekend . Regardless, I’m really looking forward to going and will try not to spend a load of money in the shop!

Speaking of spending money I picked up Tomb World. The terrain looks really cool and I’ve quickly built it and over lunch on Friday I got it primed

Really looking forward to painting this up, theirs loads of cool details all over it

Thanks for looking!

Hi kabaakaba, yeah, they’ll mostly be contrast apart from the metallics, green glow eyes and any boils they have. I’ve already got 26 painted and these guys are going fast so far. My Tomb World terrain will be the same scheme as my Necrons on the previous page, so a dark ghostly turquoise with gauss blaster green glows, bits of black and some grey walls.
muette wrote:Lots of progress and lots of work ahead, keep it up!

Thanks mate, I’ll try to keep it going for sure!

Since it was an F1 weekend I sat down again tonight and cracked on with the Blightlords. I wasn’t massively feeling them but thought they were close to being finished. Then when I sat down tonight I remembered that their cloth and bones hadn’tbeen done yet. So instead of painting nurglings I figured I should do that first. Whilst it’s not my favourite part of the scheme to paint I think it’s really helped them grow on me, particularly the 3 members of the Tainted Cohort.

The chap at the back is really cool too as his armour at the back is strapped together because his mutated flesh is seeping out. It was looking a bit meh, until I dry brushed the straps and made the whole arrangement pop. Mutations and nurglings will be next to paint, then it’ll be drips (of which there are plenty in both units!) and glowing bits before bases to finish. Starting to think there is an outside chance that I’ll get them painted in time for the slow grow (not that 500pts a month feels particularly slow!

Thanks for looking

The Blighlords are getting their pink on! Minor progress last night with the first highlight on the Nurglings tentacles and pipes.

They always look good at this stage I think, then the first pink layer looks worse until I add white to the mix. Hopefully I’ll get one of those steps done tomorrow.
Thanks for looking

Thanks kabaakab, if you like the contrast that the purple brings I’m sure you’ll love the pink!

It’s been a crazy few weeks, so there’s not been much painting progress. There has however been a good bit of gaming with the Death Guard losing a 40K game against Tyranids (awful dice and a couple of silly positioning mistakes) but winning 4 games of Kill Team. 2 of the Kill Team games were in Nottingham as my Kill Team group paid a trip to Warhammer World to bid farewell to a couple of guys who are moving away to new jobs. It was my first trip there and was really impressed by the set up. Sadly we didn’t check the events calendar so it clashed with the 40K Grand Narrative, so we didn’t get to play there, but there were some cool cosplayers. In fact the Deathwatch Marine nearly took me out with his backpack . Amazingly I also didn’t return home with any miniatures! I had hoped for some MkV Marines for my Panthers, but they are now sold out (hoping that means they’re the next release for Heresy).

Tonight though I cracked on with the Blightlords. Their tentacles/flesh cables/nurglings are now fully highlighted and I made a start on their boils.

The pink turned out pretty well, but I had an intrusive thought when painting the boils on this lad…

The resemblance to Mr Blobby is uncanny! For those that remember I’m; Apologies for bringing back the thought. For those that don’t know him, YouTube will have the evidence, but remember, you’ve been warned!

Thanks for Blobby!

Grand Prix weekend usually means double painting sessions, so here’s another update. Everyone got their boils painted up starting with a dark yellow then a red wash before picking out the height of their pustules with yellow again. Nasty! Here’s the Poxwalkers;

I then Made a start on the greens but could only manage the emerald green base coat in a few of the Terminators before calling it a night.

Getting the green on these, really feels like the home stretch and brings the look together.

Thanks for looking

Well this week was a bit of a hobby bust. Didn’t manage any mid week painting and my Wednesday evening Crusade game was called off 30mins before it was due to start (actually worked out quite well as my wife didn’t make it home from the Chiropractor until 15mins after the start time!). This weekend though I got a fair bit of priming done, with all of my remaining Necrons now primed and ready for painting. Plus tonight I got my plague bus and 2nd plagueburst crawler primed, which I primed the tracks and a few bits in lead belcher with the hulls being done in black. Hopefully that will speed their painting up a bit.

Tonight though I sat down and got most of the greens done on the Blightlords and all of it done on the Poxwalkers. I also did the washes on their bases.

I still need to to back and so the brighter green on the Blightlords’ flames and I think the pink could do with a brighter final highlight but then I think that I’ll be done. The Poxwalkers are essentially done now and will be complete once both have their rims painted black.

I’m quite a bit behind on the slow grow, so hopefully I’ll finish these guys up this week. I’m then debating what to do next. I had planned the Plagueburst Crawler, Lord of Contagion and Rhino, but I’m close to getting one of my Characters upgraded to Daemon Prince or potentially turned to Chaos Spawn. As such I’m thinking I swap the PBC for the Prince and the LoC for the Gellerpox Infected as some of the larger chaps make good Chaos Spawn proxies. What do you lot think I should do?

Thanks for looking !

It’s been a while dakka! Work, life and hobby have been nuts with things getting more crazy as I’ve just accepted a new job that will see me moving to Germany at the start of December. Wife, Kids and Guinea Pigs will likely follow in Feb/Mar so in between adjusting to new life I’ll probably get a bit of hobby time too. For now I’ve resolved to finish my WIP projects and prepped a bunch of things to keep me busy on lonely December evenings. That means I’m aiming to finish my Blackstone Fortress, Space Hulk and Necrons before end of Feb. All of my remaining Necrons are primed and nearly ready to make the trip with me in December when I reckon I should manage to get them done as the scheme is pretty straightforward. My Blackstone Fortress stuff is mostly primed (just an Ork waiting on the priming stick I think) but will be quite a bit more effort to do as everything is much more varied so that will be January and February. But what about Space Hulk and the Death Guard you still haven’t finished! Well, the Space Hulk Terminators are sat on my desk waiting to be finished as the Blightlord Terminators and Poxwalkers are done! So enough with the wall of text, here’s the Poxwalkers

I’ve got to say I think these turned out pretty well for a speed paint. I’m also really chuffed how the kit bashing looks, whilst they all clearly share similar bits, they’re also all unique with most of the cut and shut jobs being fairly seamless.

The Blighlords also got finished off, here’s the multi part versions

Compared to the Deathshroud these guys are are bit on the bland side so I’m glad that I added the Nurgling on the flail chap. The Tainted Cohort on the other hand are chock full of detail:

These lads were chock full of detail and each seemingly had a theme; tentacles, teeth and horns. Mr tentacles has a distinct Krang/Mr Blabby vibe to him but I like him nonetheless.

I also took some picks of them together; all the Terminators

And the Poxwalkers screening them

Altogether a pretty decent looking bunch. I’ve still got plenty of Death Guard to paint so they’ll return when I’m fully set up in Germany. I’ve packed most of them up ready for the journey, one box of painted bits and another of unpainted. This will be the only painted army that comes with us in case my German goes from nothing to being able to sustain a game of 40K. All of my other painted things will go in to storage whilst we’re away so I’m currently scouring eBay for storage solutions. if anyone has hot tips for long term storage for minis let me know!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Tommy, glad you like the flames, it looks surprisingly good for such a simple recipe (base emerald green, wash striking scorpion green, wash bile green)

It’s been a while Dakka, with oodles of life admin I’ve not really managed too much hobby progress. I’m also struggling with about a million blood drops, gems and lenses. My old eyes have been struggling of late, so I’ve been needing to use my magnifying glasses and they’re not easy to use for prolonged periods. I think though, bar the ones that I’ve missed (there’s always a few!), that they’re done

They’re pretty hard to see in this pic , but I think the eye lenses in particular have turned out really well, as have some of the blue lenses. Here’s some close pics

The sergeants have loads of gems, and the purple ones on Lorenzo were a slog but most look good. Also it looks like I was wrong and the Red gems need a final orange highlight on the bottom and a point of white ones the opposite top

On this pair their eye lenses are really popping and their blue targeting lenses have a nice shine to them. God those targeters are really fiddly to paint like this! I think quite a few of them will need a wash to tidy things up

The heavy weapons guys are fun minis. The green gems on the Heavy Flamer are some of my favourites, shame his blue blood drops are a bit meh. The blue vial on the Assault Cannon is one of my first attempts at painting a such a thing. Not a bad effort, but I’m happy for a first attempt

The final trio pic I took for completion but also their eye lenses. I’m liking the brightness against the darkness that the streaking grime creates.

Once I finish the gems that I missed I’m thinking of doing a few highlights on the metallics and the cabling before calling them done… they’ll have only taken a year to paint I’ll get to them next weekend with any luck. In the meantime I’m away this week with work so my Eversor Assassin for Blackstone Fortress is coming with me. Hopefully I’ll get more done on him.

Cheers Cap, that move is creeping up on me fast!

Well my trip the other week was a bust for painting, managed to do absolutely nothing on the assassin. Then, when I got home I did nothing on the Terminators either. I do however build a bunch of Plague Marines out of the bodies you get with the Poxwalkers and a Biologus Putrifier. I wanted to max out the Special Weapons options for 2 squads, so went with extra plasma and Melta guns that I had spare from the Plague Marine box, plus a couple of Raptor versions that looked awesome in Tek’s Death Guard army.

As you can see one of them got a promotion to Biologus Putrifier. Another eBay win made me up to the max 3 Putrifiers. 2 of them are converted using Plague Marine bodies. Here’s the whole gang as I’m not sure I’ve shown them before

From the Putrifier bodies I made an icon of despair plague marine and a Plasma gunner

So from wanting some more poxies, I’ve also grown my Plague Marine options, and am now able to max out the special weapons choices for 2 full squads.

In life news, I start my new job on Monday, so me and a bunch of Necrons will be flying to Germany on Sunday. Wife and kids won’t be following until February half term, so I’ll try to get these guys done and get back to posting more regularly.

Thanks for looking

Thanks, the nurglings are always fun but sadly I don’t have enough and there’s not always space to add them.

Well, I’ve survived the first week at the new job and so far so good. But you lot don’t want to hear about work. So here’s my temporary painting setup

My Necrons have made pretty decent progress so far with the ghostly green base colours laid down.

Thanks matey, I promise that I’ll finally finish the terminators over Christmas, I think it’s been a year since I started them so I probably should. As for coasters, the apartment is distinctly lacking in them, so the cups will be naked on the table . Also, one of them is most definitely not a drink!

Made some steady progress since my last post. Last night I painted all 25 of the Necron Warriors’ guns with Black Templar

Tonight I did the Plasmacytes and Plasmacyte warriors from the Canoptek Circle, plus 3 lightly modified Skorpekh Destroyer

I really need to get some some glue for the broken Ophydian Destroyer, but I’m really pleased how his mates replacement arm and tail spike are looking now they’re painted

These tomb crawler things look pretty cool, you can tell the family lineage with the Canoptek reanimator. These guys just have short legs to stay inside

The geo and psycho mancers are some of the coolest minis in the Necron range I think. I’m looking forwards to painting the digital skull and digital bits around the rocks.

But reckon Mr Szeras is truly the coolest Necron mini onthe market right now.

Thanks for looking
