I am super pleased to see them unbuilt. Half the fun for me is gluing the stuff together (and then ignoring it for months and/ or years).

Is it just me or is this stuff more in line with the Bones BLACK material? Or is it just my poor eyesight?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I posted a Kickstarter message to Reaper asking about when the weapon sprues from the last Kickstarter campaign would be released and got this reply:

"We will not be releasing the clear options. They were too hard too cast. The gray sprues will be released while supplies last and then will be discontinued. This should happen any time now."

So that's disappointing.

That is disappointing. Please post here when they are finally released if they give you a heads-up. I don't want to miss out, and I'm sure plenty of Dakkanauts feel the same way.

That's odd, even for the grey ones. I thought they were pretty snazzy sprues. I'm with you guys, we can always use more weapons!

IIRC, One of the updates says that the sprue layouts were wrong. Something like instead of one of each weapon on a sprue, they put two of half of the weapons on one sprue, and needed a second sprue for the other half. Also, I remember reading that Reaper didn't have the packaging for the sprues??

Too bad. The weapon sprues were very useful for multipiece 28mm figures from various companies that had the hand and weapon separate, and didn't include the weapon that you wanted. Some game rules distinguish between types of weapons (eg. axe vs. spear) and many rule distinguish ranged weapons vs. melee.

Mebbe ask for them on the Bones request thread on the Reaper forums?

If I had to guess I bet that the thin nature of the weapons/sprue with nothing more substantial to push on (like a body) getting out them out of the mold meant a bunch of breakage/tearing so lots of expensive QC selecting good sprues with all the stuff still on them

(that's assuming they were done in basic bones rather than bones black)

They're hard plastic, not the vinyl Bones plastic. They were part of the Bones 3 KS, so this was before Bones Black. Can also confirm that there are two copies of a weapon on a sprue.

Now, I'm wondering why Reaper doesn't put out multipiece kits, like Northstar (Frostgrave) does. I know they're targeting the RPG market (which includes players who want the pieces pre-assembled and don't paint them), but the skirmish and rank and file markets have cash, too...!

That does seem odd then, they're clearly selling otherwise why warn that they might be gone any day so why no make another run

Good question. I also sorta remember that, if it wasn't for KS backers, they wouldn't have even made a print run. But you'd think, by now, the correct sprues would have been made! I would have thought that the Chinese company that designed the sprues / created the molds would swallow the cost, but, if Reaper made or accepted the error so has to pay for a new set of molds, they might put the whole project aside, not bother with a print run with the old molds, and wait for KS 5 to fund for revised weapon sprues. No idea!

EDIT: Reapermill says packaging problems 'cuz they want the sprues to be with the blisters on the rack. : http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/83697-armory-sprues-a-one-off/

that makes a lot more sense, if they don't fit in the standard packaging (because the doubled up?) I can see why retail for stores isn't going to work

that shouldn't matter for direct sales but it could well be enough to make another run uneconomic compared to something else, and if they did make them available direct but not to retail some retail partners might worry they'd loose sales from people buying the weapons & other bones while they were there

There are a few Bones minis that they sell at conventions in bags because they could not get packaging to work for retail. I'm thinking the same will happen with those weapon sprues.

I'm not sure if you can get those from Reaper's webstore (probably you can).

I wonder if those won't ever see a second run, though.

I like this orc shaman! How do we get one? On their website, it says 'qualifying orders of $40' or more get a Black Rock Troll... But I didn't see anything about the shaman. Sorry to be so dense, but is there a link to this offer?

I play...

Sigh.

You're right -- there is no mention of this being a freebie!

I'm sure it's an oversight, but I guess you'll want to contact Reaper to make sure before placing an order on their website!

Bones overseas packing for shipping complete!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-4-mr-bones-epic-adventure/posts/2471751?ref=ksr_email_backer_project_update_registered_users_refresh

Previous update said they need to prepare for packing to the US, which will be done in a warehouse (?) across the street. Shipping should start April 8th. They have some but not all of the "Baba Yaga's Hut, Tree of Despair, and Frost Giant Raiders" models, and expect the rest on the 16th. This should not be noticeable to US backers, though. Worst case is that "Once the stock on hand is depleted, we will continue pulling all orders that do not contain these missing items. Once the container arrives (see below) we will go back and pull all orders that contain those items."

This KS had 30% stuff than their previous one (!). Rumormill is that the next KS will have fewer larger miniatures. Random guess is that, with Bones Black, they knows can make smaller miniatures, while, during the KS 4 campaign, they knew original Bones was better (and more cost-effective) for larger miniatures.

I also read that, instead of glue, they fit pieces together while the plastic was still cooling. However, this resulted in some noticeable gaps, such as in some of the efreeti models (see last month's freebie).

Man. I wish I went in on this KS... When's the next one???

I know they're still shipping, but any word on when this stuff might hit retail? Does it usually take a few months after KS ships, or is it usually pretty quick?

Looks good...

Yeah, I missed out on it too. Looks like a great way to build up a diverse collection.

Black Magic Craft did an unboxing video in which he said that the next one would probably start soon, but IIRC it wasn't a sure thing.

Unfortunately, it can take months or longer before it hits retail. However, check the KS3 miniatures to see if they're available! Was there a particular miniature you had in mind?

No official date for KS5. ): Pure speculation is later this year! Save up your C-Notes! The core set is $100, each expansion (eg. Dreadmere, Fan Favorites, etc.) is $50, and smaller add-ons vary.

I think there's still a lot from the last campaign that hasn't hit retail yet.

Just a word: I got my KS shipment yesterday. I don't know if I got a bad batch of the new bones black material, but I had several miniatures where either a weapon or a wrist had snapped. It does definitely hold detail better than the regular bones, and Reaper's excellent customer service already has me taken care of, so I would definitely call bones black an improvement, but it may come with a small tradeoff on how bendy vs brittle the miniatures are.

My guess is that it was just a small poorly mixed batch or something, since other miniatures from the same material were just as flexible as the white material.

Brittle like HIPS/ GW plastic? Or somewhere between old-Bones and that?

I'm shocked at how heavy the wings are on some of those models. The demons and devils, jeez, some of them are going to need to be seriously weighted down due to both the size and weight of their flying appendages.

Don't even get me started on Argent's wings...

There's something poignant about celestial beings weighed down by their own wings.

I had to go to Canadian Tire and buy a pack of washers so I could glue some under the bases of the winged demons I got in hopes they'll stop falling backward. I might even try to magnetize those wings for storage and transport.
