I think they should. It could a nice way to further tie 40k and Necromunda together, and the former could lead very nicely into the latter. "Say new player? You like the IG? You like their models? Well did you know that there's an entire game dedicated to the gang warfare of their home planet? Try it out!".
I would also love to see what these minis might actually look like. Since House Van Saar make the best equipment, I imagine that their designs would feature a lot in the Necromundan regiments. In other words, the Necromunda IG would use Van Saar style lasguns/pistols, flamers, meltas, plasmas etc. Then again...contracts often do go to the lowest bidder. What about the other gangs? What sort of input would they have? Something tells me that House Goliath might have a hand in making the armor for example.
However, I don't know where this would leave the other IG kits. As it is, I think GW struggle to deal with the variety of IG regiments there are already.

There are already two designs for Necromundan IG. I prefer Jes Goodwin's design (can't get it to link, but search for Jes Goodwin Imperial Guard). Considering how popular longcoat guard proxies are, GW would be leaving money on the table not to make their own (modern sculpts in plastic).

Check the back of the IG 3rd ed codex. IIRC there's at least 1, if not 2, different IG regiments based on Necromunda gang designs.

The Cadian models at the moment are based on the old RT-era guard who were most typified by the Necromundan VIIIth, "the Spiders".
With the Blackstone fortress traitor IG showing that they now definitely have CG assets for Cadian style Guard scaled to the Genestealer/Necromunda/AdMech scale and Cadia gone I could easily see the return of the Spiders as the new default IG regiment.
Basic IG but properly scaled cross compatible bits with all the necromunda gangs for all your officers and vets!

The problem with this is that Cadia might be gone--but lore has made it abundantly clear that all those Cadians that were fighting elsewhere? They're not. And that's not even accounting for the Regiments that couldn't return to Cadia in time to fight during Abaddon's offensive.
Hell, for a bit of a spoiler with regards to "Cadia Stands":
I get that people want a "new showcase regiment" or whatever, but Cadians aren't gone from the lore. We're just at the whole "Battlestar Galactica" stage of things, with Cadianity looking for a new home!

I think that having a more distinctively gothic IG regiment in plastic would be a good thing. I like the idea of many varied IG regiments, and when they were metal, it made sense. But the first really gothic IG regiment, the Vostroyans, was an absolute home run.
I think that if they made models with great coats, open/gas mask helmets, and some gothic ornamentation, it'd be really successful.

This is actually why I keep saying we should see the Militarum Tempestus range expanded a bit.
They hit some of the same design cues as the Vostroyans(more ornate gear with a less 'grounded in real world' look) and could use some extra stuff to make larger detachments potentially viable without compromising on the nature of the Tempestus as the more 'grim-faced killer' side of things.

Where did it state the 8th Imparial Guard Regiment "The Spiders" came from Necromunda? In the colour plates for the Rhino and Land Raider in the Warhammer 40,000 Compendium, the regiment (and the 7th "Lucky Sevens") don't have a planet named, and the regiment on the cover of the box set of plastic Guardsmen (the same painting that gave us Ollanius Pius' only fleeting mention) is the 9th regiment. The colour plate that usually gets brought up in conversations like this features a Guard regiment that uses a spider as an emblem is the 5th Arcadian regiment. A really gothic-looking range of miniatures might help to drive the popular idea of the army away from modern day units or things like Aliens. OK, fair enough if you like that sort of thing, but making them look more unique would be a good step IMO. That's why my army always has as many abhumans and techpriests, etc as I can get in it.

I don't think it's the "gothic-looking range of miniatures" alone that would do it...
In any regards, that's why I suggest it be the MT that get expanded with the more 'dark imperium' feel. We can add some really dark aspects to them, whether it be one-man killteams of a Scion washout as an Elite choice or Heavy Support choices of Scion teams with heavier weapons and the ability to shoot into combats...there's room for some dark gak.

My plan for a Necromunda based regiment design is to use GSC neophyte hybrid models with auto guns and the new forge world Necromunda gang heads to make them uniformed in terms of armour and weapons but look like gang members still with their unique head designs, then the squads would be mixed with different gang members rather than an Orlock squad, or Escher squad etc.

Whatever the wargear STC a local Forge World has looks like?
I mean that's the long and short of it. The various looks are related to three or four big things:
1) The STCs of local Forge Worlds devoted to arming them.
2) The availability of said wargear. If the 'standard' stuff isn't available? You might see older patterns of gear that was initially earmarked for PDF use elsewhere show up instead.
3) The importance of the regiment being raised. If it's an important founding, you can bet your ass that it'll get top billing for gear!

That’s the 2nd Ed retcon. Original background is in WD109 I believe:
I never liked the ‘whole House as army’ as much as the ‘officer has a pet spider’ origin! The old plastic Guardsmen boxset had a Necromundan regiment on the box art.

Just to expand on what Kanluwen said - it also depends how long they have for the founding, and how long the regiment has been in the field. A normal founding they should all be issued identical equipment and organised into units but a rebellion / alien invasion in a neighbouring system? Round up all the gangers you can find, shove them into a transport and give a gun to anyone without one - you've now got x weeks transport time to learn to function as a coherent force.
Also, the longer they've been in the field the more 'old habits' would re-emerge: hair dye, trophy taking, non-standard dress, etc. (unless they have strict officers / Commissars).

I would think that the discipline in the Necromundan PDF would either be fairly harsh, and clamp down on "gang colours", or they'd have full regiments from each different House; either method would be a way of reducing internal conflict once various House members have been conscripted.

Unless they feel the Gang Ties make for better performance. Grouped like for like, you get different specialism, and a level of competition between the units?
I'd imagine any fratricide is clamped down on heavily as a result though.
